Súlyos rakétatámadás érte szerdán egy iraki katonai légitámaszpontot, Ferenc pápa látogatása előtt két nappal – jelentette az iraki hivatalos hírügynökség, és megerősítette ezt a nemzetközi koalíciós erők szóvivője.
Tíz rakétával támadták a nyugat-iraki Anbár tartományban lévő Ín el-Aszad támaszpontot, amelyen az Iszlám Állam nevű dzsihadista szervezet ellen harcoló külföldi koalíciós katonák közül is sok állomásozik. A tízből több a létesítmény területén csapódott be, de arról nem közöltek semmit, hogy bárkinek baja esett volna. Az iraki biztonsági erők vizsgálják, hogy kik voltak a támadók.
Hasonló támadás már több történt Irakban az utóbbi hetekben, sőt az utóbbi egy évben. Miután az amerikai erők 2020 januárjában dróntámadással megölték Kászem Szulejmáni iráni tábornokot, Irán megtorlásul az Ín el-Aszad támaszpontra is csapást mért.
Pénteken érkezik iraki látogatásra Ferenc pápa, katolikus egyházfőként először. Az AFP hírügynökség szerint ezek a támadások nagy fejtörés elé állítják az út szervezőit.
Matteo Bruni szentszéki szóvivő kedden mégis hangsúlyozta, hogy Ferenc pápa évek óta el akar látogatni Irakba, és az utat nem tartja veszélyesnek sem biztonsági szempontból, sem a koronavírus-világjárvány miatt. Sehol nem találkozik tömegekkel, a programban kevés a nyilvános esemény, zárt térben a legtöbben a Ninivei-fennsíkon található Karakos keresztény templomában várják az egyházfőt, de ott is csak néhány százan lesznek jelen.
Ami a biztonsági feltételeket illeti, a szóvivő elmondta, hogy szokás szerint a Vatikán biztonsági emberei és a svájci gárdisták végigjárták a látogatás útvonalát. Ferenc pápának páncélozott járművet biztosítanak, az egyházfő azonban nem szokott ilyet igénybe venni. Mindvégig zárt autóban közlekedik majd, kivéve Erbílben, ahol a stadionban tartandó misén nyitott járműben fog utazni. A 30 ezres stadionba 10 ezer embert engednek be – tette hozzá.

Csütörtökön az Egyesült Államok Szíriában egy Irán-barát milícia egyik objektumára mért légicsapást, 17 ember meghalt – jelentették amerikai illetékesek a Reuters hírügynökséggel.
A hírügynökség szerint ez a múlt héten Irakban amerikai célpontok ellen végrehajtott rakétatámadás miatti válaszcsapás volt. A Reuters forrásai tudatták, hogy a támadást Joe Biden amerikai elnök hagyta jóvá. A védelmi minisztérium egyelőre hivatalosan nem erősítette meg az értesülést.
A brit székhelyű, Emberi Jogok Szíriai Megfigyelőközpontja (OSDH) péntek hajnalban arról számolt be, hogy az iraki határ közelében végrehajtott csapásban három, lőszert szállító teherautó semmisült meg, és legkevesebb 17 ember meghalt. Mindannyian a Hasd as-Saabi tagjai voltak, amely egy Iránnal szövetséges, iraki félkatonai szervezet.
Február 15-én az észak-iraki Erbílben található amerikai bázist érte rakétatámadás, amelyben egy nem amerikai szerződéses biztonsági ember meghalt, több amerikai pedig megsérült. Pár nappal később Bagdad közelében is rakétatámadás ért egy bázist, ahol amerikaiak is állomásoznak.

A bagdadi Zöld Zónára hétfőn rakétasorozatot lőttek ki. Ebben a zónában található az iraki kormányzati és egyéb épületek mellett az Egyesült Államok nagykövetsége is – tájékoztatták az AFP francia hírügynökséget iraki biztonsági vezetők.
Egy hét alatt ez volt a harmadik támadás Irakban lévő nyugati érdekeltségek ellen.
A Zöld Zónában legalább két rakéta csapódott be – tudatták közleményben az iraki biztonsági szolgálatok.
Egy nevének elhallgatását kérő biztonsági vezető szerint legalább egy rakéta eltalálta a nemzetbiztonsági hivatal épületét, amely az amerikai nagykövetség közelében áll.
Több más rakéta a fokozottan biztosított épületegyüttes körüli lakónegyedekre zuhant, Haritíja negyedben egy parkolót ért találat.
Február 15-én az iraki Kurdisztáni Autonóm Régió fővárosa, Erbíl repülőtere közelében lévő katonai támaszpontot érte rakétatámadás, ahol az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet ellen harcoló, az
Egyesült Államok vezette szövetség külföldi csapatai állomásoznak. A támadásban egy, a szövetség számára dolgozó polgári vállalkozó meghalt, kilenc másik ember megsebesült.
Több rakétatámadást hajtottak végre Erbíltől északnyugatra is, itt lakónegyedeket is ért találat. Itt öt civil sebesült meg, egyikük hétfőn belehalt sebesülésébe.
Két hónap óta ezek voltak az nyugati katonai és diplomáciai létesítmények elleni első támadások. Tavaly többtucatnyi, Irán-barát csoportoknak tulajdonított támadást követtek el.
Szombaton rakétákkal lőtték a Bagdadtól északra fekvő Balad légibázisát, ahogy az iraki légierők F-16 típusú vadászgépeket tárolnak, a gépek karbantartását végző amerikai cég legalább egy iraki alkalmazottja megsebesült.
Az erbíli támadás elkövetését egy viszonylag ismeretlen szervezet, az Aulíjaa ed-Dam (Vér Őrizői) vállalta magára. A szervezet az interneten közzétett közleményében bejelentette, hogy további támadásokra készül az Irakban állomásozó amerikai erők ellen.
Több nyugati ország elítélte a támadásokat, és figyelmeztetett, hogy a szövetség elleni támadásokat nem fogják eltűrni. Az ENSZ figyelmeztetett arra, hogy Irak stabilitása ismét meggyengülhet.

Szerdán a török légierő csapást mért a Kurdisztáni Munkáspárt (PKK) terrorszervezet állásaira az észak-iraki Gara térségben – közölte internetes oldalán a török védelmi minisztérium.
A tárca azt írta, hogy a PKK Észak-Irak némely térségében továbbra is jelen van, óvóhelyeket, hadállásokat alakít ki és átfogó támadásra készül. A minisztérium rámutatott: a csapásmérést a török nép és a biztonsági erők ellen irányuló terrortámadások elkerülése, valamint a török-iraki határszakasz biztonságának szavatolása érdekében hajtották végre, Törökországnak a nemzetközi jogból eredő önvédelmi jogával összhangban.
A PKK 1984 óta folytat fegyveres felkelést Délkelet-Törökországban a kurd kisebbség függetlenségéért, főhadiszállása azonban az Irak északi részén fekvő Kandil-hegységben van. A török harci repülőgépek ezért a korábbi években is rendszeresen hajtottak végre csapásokat az iraki határ túloldalán.
A PKK-t nemcsak a török kormányzat, hanem a világ közösségének egy jelentős része is terrorista szervezetnek tartja.
A török biztonsági erők és a PKK közötti több évtizedes konfliktusban már emberek tízezrei vesztették életüket.

Több mint 340 halálbüntetést hagyott jóvá az iraki vezetés, jórészt terrorizmussal összefüggő ügyekben – idézte az iraki elnöki hivatal közleményét vasárnap az asz-Szumaríja hírtelevízió.
Az elnöki hivatal hangsúlyozza, hogy a jogerős iraki bírósági ítéleteket azután „ratifikálták”, hogy alaposan, a hatályos jogi normáknak és az alkotmánynak megfelelően megvizsgáltak minden egyes bírósági döntést, amely ellen fellebbezni már nem lehet, és az elítélt kegyelemben sem részesíthető.
Irak 2017 végén hirdetett katonai győzelmet az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet „kalifátusa” felett. Az iraki bíróságok azóta több száz halálos ítéletet róttak ki, amelyeket Barhám Száleh elnöknek kell jóváhagynia. Külföldi, így francia és belga állampolgárok is vannak az elítéltek között.
Jogvédők gyakran bírálják a bagdadi vezetést a halálbüntetések miatt. Tavaly mintegy száz elítéltet végeztek ki Irakban, ami megközelítőleg hetede volt a világon végrehajtott halálos ítéleteknek.

Két öngyilkos merénylet is történt az iraki főváros központjában található piacon: legalább huszonnyolcan meghaltak, és több mint 73 ember megsebesült.
Az elkövetők egyelőre ismeretlenek.
Iraki katonai források két, robbanóövet viselő elkövetőt említettek. Jahja Raszúl, a hadsereg egyik szóvivője azt mondta, a merénylők a biztonsági erők elől menekülve robbantották fel magukat.
Az iraki állami televízió rendőrségi forrásokra hivatkozva azt közölte, hogy sok sebesült állapota válságos.
Irakból 2017 végén űzték ki az Iszlám Állam nevű terrorszervezetet, és bár a szervezet több fegyverese menedéket talált az ország nehezen megközelíthető peremvidékein, a fővárosban és környékén nagy mértékben javult azóta a biztonsági helyzet. Bagdadban a legutóbbi, 27 halálos áldozattal járó öngyilkos merényletet 2018-ban követték el, ugyancsak a Tajarán téren.

Az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet irakiak millióinak életét forgatta fel. Rengetegen menekültek el az erőszak elől, közülük sokan ma is a fent említett táborokban élnek. Vagyis éltek, amíg az iraki vezetés meg nem kezdte ezek felszámolását.
A Moszultól 25 kilométerre délre található Hammam al-Alil egyike a számos tábornak, amelyet még ebben a hónapban bezárnak. A műveletet egyébként az év elejére tervezték, de a koronavírus-járvány miatt mostanra halasztották. A moszuli menekültügyi és migrációs iroda vezetője elmondta, hogy minden kitelepített család 1,5 millió dináros (1263 dolláros) támogatást kapna az első évben az újrakezdéshez, a hatóságok pedig együttműködnek majd a nemzetközi segélyszervezetekkel annak biztosítása érdekében, hogy további segítséget kapjanak, miután letelepedtek.
A segélyszervezetek szerint azonban a folyamat nem lesz egyszerű: a legkiszolgáltatottabbakat nehéz lesz felkutatni, ha a szélrózsa minden irányába távoznak, ráadásul hazatérve néhányuk erőszakkal és letartóztatással is szembesülhet, ha vannak olyan rokonai, akik kapcsolatban állnak fegyveres csoportokkal, köztük az ISIS-szel.

A török határ mentén, Iraki Kurdisztánban élők nagy volumenű légitámadás-sorozatnak voltak tanúi az ősz folyamán. Az ankarai légierő egyes jelentések szerint kifejezetten a PKK menekültjeit célozta akcióival Duhok (asszír keresztény nevén Noharda) térségében.
„Hónapokig bombázták a hegyeinket azért, hogy PKK-tagokat gyilkolhassanak vagy kurdokat támadhassanak meg, mindegy, hogy fegyvereket hordanak, esetleg ételt vagy bármi mást szállítanának” – fogalmazott Samir Youssef atya, az Amadiya egyházmegye lelkipásztora.
Az enishkei plébános elmondta, hogy az erőszak az utóbbi időben még intenzívebb formát öltött, ahogy azt az erről készült fényképek és videók is alátámasztják. „A múlt hónapokban rengeteg embert megöltek csak azért, mert túl közel voltak a PKK által irányított területhez.”
A bombázások több esetben civil lakóházakat értek, máskor segélyszállító autót robbantottak föl.
Érdemes megjegyezni, hogy az Iszlám Állam elől 2014 óta Moszulból és a Ninivei-fennsíkról elmenekült keresztények százai élnek ezen a területen, de olyan asszír keresztények is akadnak szép számmal, akik még az 1915-ös törökországi népirtás túlélőinek leszármazottai.
A török állampárti sajtóorgánumok üdvözölték a hadműveleteket. Kommentátoraik szerint ezek által fogják a „terroristákat semlegesíteni”.
Helyi elemzők arra figyelmeztetnek, hogy a legérintettebb területek mind keresztény falvak, úgy mint Chalik, Bersiveh, Sharanish. A cél az, hogy a térségben lakókat ezekkel a műveletekkel elűzzék, hogy a hadsereg számára tér nyíljon földi támaszpontok létesítéséhez, ahonnan a későbbiekben a PKK elleni harcokat koordinálhatják – vélik.

Szerda este az iraki Kurdisztáni Autonóm Régió székvárosának, Erbílnek a repülőtere mellett rakéták csapódtak be – jelentette a kurd terrorelhárítási szolgálat.
Archív A tájékoztatás szerint az iráni támogatású iraki milíciák ernyőszervezete, a Népi Mozgósítási Erők (al-Hasd as-Saabi) felelős a történtekért. A síita ernyőszervezet része az iraki fegyveres erőknek.
„A Népi Mozgósítási Erők hat rakétát indítottak a Ninive tartománybeli Sejk Amír falu határából az amerikai vezetésű koalíció csapatai ellen az erbíli nemzetközi repülőtéren” – közölte a terrorelhárítás.
A biztonsági szolgálat hozzátette, hogy négy rakéta a légikikötő peremén robbant fel, kettő pedig becsapódott, de nem robbant fel.
Maszrúr Barzani, az iraki Kurdisztán miniszterelnöke elítélte a támadást, és felszólította a bagdadi vezetést az elkövetők felelősségre vonására.
A történteket szintén elítélte a kurd belügyi tárca, amely bár nem nevezte meg közvetlenül az elkövetőket, de közölte, hogy a támadás a Népi Mozgósítási Erők 30. brigádjához tartozó területről indult.
Az iraki hadsereg ugyanakkor azt állította, hogy egy terroristacsoport felelős a támadásért. Közölte, hogy a rakétaindítás térségéért felelős parancsnokokat a vizsgálat időtartamára őrizetbe vették. Egy biztonsági forrás szerint az iraki hadsereg egyik dandártábornokáról és a Népi Mozgósítási Erők 30. brigádjának parancsnokáról van szó.
Wayne Marotto ezredes, a koalíciós erők szóvivője szerint a támadás nem követelt áldozatokat és károk sem keletkeztek.
Az egyik rakéta alig kétszáz méterre csapódott be az Iráni Kurdisztán Demokratikus Pártja (KDPI) nevű, száműzetésben működő fegyveres csoport erbíli bázisától. Egyelőre nem világos, hogy a koalíciós erők vagy a KDPI volt-e a célpont.
Az incidens néhány órával azt követően történt, hogy Musztafa al-Kádimi iraki kormányfő tájékoztatót tartott 25 külföldi nagykövetnek, illetve ügyvivőnek, és fogadkozott, hogy az iraki erők megvédik a külképviseleteket, valamint gondoskodni fognak arról, hogy csak az állami biztonsági erőknek lesz fegyverük.
Helyi sajtójelentések korábban azt fejtegették, hogy Washington Erbílbe telepítheti át az iraki diplomáciai személyzetét, mivel a kurdisztáni régió biztonságosnak számít Irak többi részéhez képest, és az iráni támogatást élvező milíciák hatósugarán kívül esik.
Mike Pompeo amerikai külügyminiszter a múlt héten ultimátumot intézett Bagdadhoz: vagy megakadályozza az iraki amerikai érdekeltségek elleni fegyveres támadásokat – köztük az amerikai nagykövetség elleni rakétatámadásokat –, vagy Washington bezárja nagykövetségét, hazahívja diplomatáit, kivonja az országban állomásozó csapatainak jelentős részét.
Jelenleg mintegy ötezer amerikai katona van Irakban.

Bászrában, Irak déli nagyvárosában a hatóságok szigorú biztonsági intézkedéseket vezetnek be.
Szigorú biztonsági intézkedéseket vezetnek be az iraki hatóságok a déli nagyvárosban, Bászrában az ott kitört erőszakos tiltakozó megmozdulások miatt – közölték a helyi hatóságok szombaton. A biztonsági erők péntek éjjel Bászrában szétoszlatták tüntetők egy csoportját, amely megtámadta a bagdadi központi parlament helyi irodáinak otthont adó épületet. A tüntetők felgyújtották az épület kapuját. A tiltakozó megmozdulás kiváltó oka az volt, hogy az utóbbi időszakban több támadás is ért ellenzéki aktivistákat. Két aktivistát ismeretlen támadók megöltek a héten Bászrában.
A második gyilkosság után tiltakozók egy csoportjára éles lőszerrel lőttek a rendőrök. A történtek után Musztafa al-Kadzimi miniszterelnök menesztette Bászra rendőrfőnökét. A tüntetők szerint viszont ez nem elégséges, szerintük a dél-iraki tartomány kormányzója, Aszad al-Idáni a kisujját sem mozdítja azért, hogy felelősségre vonják a tetteseket. A kormányzó szombaton elítélte a gyilkosságokat, és azt ígérte, hogy a hatóságok felkutatják az aktivisták elleni támadások felelőseit. Ugyanakkor megjegyezte azt is: „Támogatjuk a békés tüntetéseket, (de) a rombolást elfogadhatatlannak tartjuk. Nem tűrjük sem a gyilkosságokat, sem a gyújtogatást” – mondta.
Irakban tavaly októberben kezdődtek nagyszabású tüntetések, amelyeken követelték, hogy a kormány mondjon le, oszlassák föl a parlamentet, és alakítsák át az ország politikai rendszerét, amelyet még a 2003-as, Szaddám Huszein diktátor bukását eredményező amerikai katonai beavatkozás után alakítottak ki. Az akkori kormányfő, Ádel Abdel-Mahdi november végén lemondott a posztjáról. Az új miniszterelnök, Musztafa al-Kadzimi éppen a múlt hónapban jelentette be, hogy 2021-ben előrehozott választásokat tartanak az arab országban.
