Oroszország tagadja, hogy vérdíjjal jutalmazta volna a nyugati katonákat meggyilkoló afgánokat – írja a BBC.
A New York Times értesülései szerint miközben folynak a béketárgyalások, egy orosz katonai hírszerző egység titokban fejpénzt ajánlott a tálib kötődésű afgán fegyvereseknek a koalíciós erők, köztük amerikai katonák megöléséért Afganisztánban.
Az amerikai orosz nagykövetség és a tálibok tagadják a vádakat, a követség szerint a hírek ahhoz vezettek, hogy a diplomatáik fenyegető üzeneteket kaptak. A New York Times szerint a hírszerzés Donald Trumpot már márciusban értesítette, de a Fehér Ház ezt tagadja. Az orosz követség szerint a lap álhíreket terjeszt.
2019-ben 20 amerikai katona halt meg Afganisztánban, de az NYT szerint nem tudni, melyik halálesetért fizethettek az oroszok. A cikkben megszólaló tisztviselő szerint a Fehér Ház nemzetbiztonsági tanácsa még nem döntött, hogy reagál a hírre, de az Oroszország elleni szankciók súlyosbítása is felmerült.
A tálibok szóvivője szerint a vád alaptalan, mert a célzott gyilkosságokat már évekkel korábban elkezdték, és mindegyiket a saját erőforrásaik felhasználásával hajtották végre. A szóvivő szerint február óta nem hajtottak végre ilyen akciót, mert az USA és a NATO beleegyezett, hogy kivonják a katonáikat.
A cikk szerint az a GRU-csapat fizethetett a gyilkosságokért, amelyik 2018-ban az Egyesült Királyságban megpróbálta idegméreggel megölni Szergej Szripal orosz kettős ügynököt és lányát.

Iszlamista fegyveresek megöltek húsz katonát és több mint negyven civilt, valamint megsebesítettek több száz embert két támadás során szombaton az északkelet-nigériai Borno államban.
Helyiek beszámolója szerint a támadók nehézfegyverekkel érkeztek Monguno körzetébe, ahol több nemzetközi nem kormányzati szervezet is tevékenykedik. Megrohamozták a kormányzati épületeket, és megöltek húsz katonát. A lövöldözés három órán keresztül zajlott.
Több száz civil megsebesült, a helyi kórházat elárasztották az ápolásra szorulók. A fegyveresek felgyújtották a helyi rendőrőrsöt, és megrongálták az ENSZ által használt épületet is. A helyieknek szórólapokat osztottak szét, amelyeken azt üzenték nekik, ne működjenek együtt a hadsereggel, a fehér nyugati keresztényekkel és más hitetlenekkel.
Nagyjából ezzel a támadással egy időben fegyveresek betörtek Nganzai körzetébe is, ahol negyven helyi polgári lakossal végeztek. Legutóbb kedden a Boko Haram terrorista szervezet tagjai legalább 69 embert gyilkoltak meg Borno államban.
A Boko Haram Nigériában 2002-es megalakulása óta csaknem 27 ezer embert ölt meg, a terrortámadások miatt pedig további 2,5 millióan kényszerültek otthonuk elhagyására. A szervezet célja egy iszlám kalifátus megteremtése.

Az etióp hadseregnek az Afrikai Unióhoz írt tájékoztatása szerint a táborukat védelmező katonák támadónak vélték a repülőt. Erre az adott okot, hogy nem kaptak értesítést az útjáról, szokatlanul alacsonyan repült, és ezért úgy vélték, hogy öngyilkos merényletre készül.
A gép humanitárius és egészségügyi eszközöket szállított. Három fős kenyai személyzete, továbbá két szomáliai civil életét vesztette.
Az incidens Kenyában heves érzelmeket váltott ki, mert a géppel a koronavírus elleni küzdelemhez szükséges felszereléseket és szereket akarták eljuttatni a szomszédos Szomáliába.

Mikolajivban az Ukrán Biztonsági Szolgálat (SZBU) munkatársai lőfegyverek és lőszerek feldolgozására, tárolására és értékesítésére irányuló illegális tevékenységet számoltak fel – jelentette az SZBU sajtószolgálata nyomán a korrespondent.net.
A titkosszolgálat információi szerint az illegális tevékenységet az Ukrán Fegyveres Erők két tartalékos katonája szervezte meg. Az egyikük lakóhelyén felszerelt műhelyben az elkövetők traumatikus fegyvereket alakítottak át éles lőfegyverekké további értékesítés céljából.
A házkutatások során a bűnüldöző szervek munkatársai jelentős fegyver- és lőszerkészletre bukkantak: hat, összesen 1,6 kg súlyú TNT-blokkra, három F–1 típusú kézigránátra, hét pisztolyra, hét elektromos detonátorra, nagy mennyiségű lőszerre. Lefoglaltak a fegyverek házi átalakítására szolgáló eszközöket is.
Az ügy fő gyanúsítottját őrizetbe vették. Ellene fegyverek és lőszerek jogellenes kezelése miatt indulhat eljárás.
