Január 19-én tartottak bikaviadalt Mexikó fővárosában, Mexikóvárosban. Először egy spanyol matador, a 32 éves Borja Jimenez küzdött meg egy hatalmas bikával. Eleinte úgy tűnt, hogy az irányítása alatt tartja az állatot, azonban az egyszer csak a nézők felé kezdett futni, majd kis híján átugrotta a kerítést, elérve az embereket.
A közel ülő nézők megijedtek, volt, aki felpattant a helyéről és gyorsan menekülni kezdett.
A bika végül nem jutott fel a nézőtérre, leesett a kerítésről. A viadal később tovább folytatódott – írja az Origo a People-re hivatkozva.

A politikai aktivista előbb vörös festékkel leöntötte, majd nagy erővel kezdte el verni az izraeli miniszterelnök fejét, végül felborította a tönkretett viaszszobrot a világ több egykori és jelenlegi vezetőjének a társaságában. Az esetet „testközelből nézte végig” a brit királyi család, miközben a férfi azt kiabálta, hogy „éljen Palesztina, Szudán, Jemen és Puerto Rico”.
Az én felelősségem, hogy leszámoljak ezzel a háborús bűnössel, mert a mexikóvárosi viaszmúzeum elfelejtette befedni 40 ezer palesztin vérével

Egy csütörtökön közzétett közleményből derült ki, hogy miután 14 holttestre bukkantak Culiacán város környékén, Mexikó Sinaloa államában az ügyészi hivatal nyomozást indított.
Mint ismert, az országban az utóbbi időszakban drámai erőszakhullám söpört végig: a kartellek közötti belső konfliktusok Sinaloa államban több száz áldozatot követeltek, míg más régiókban, például Querétaróban brutális támadások történtek. Csak a múlt hétvégén Querétaróban 10 embert öltek meg egy bárban.
Az ügyészek jelentése szerint a holttestek közül hetet a Culiacánt és Mazatlánt összekötő autópálya mentén találtak meg. Három további áldozatra temetők közelében bukkantak, míg egy holttestet egy híd mellett fedeztek fel. A Reuters jelentése szerint a hatóságok eddig 15 panaszt regisztráltak, melyek gépjárműlopásokkal és eltűnésekkel kapcsolatosak.
Október végén a helyi hatóságok egyetlen nap alatt újabb 14 gyilkosságról számoltak be, melyek az Egyesült Államokban nemrégiben letartóztatott Sinaloa-kartell egyik kulcsfigurájához köthetők.
A brutális esetek nyomán Sinaloa állam biztonságát több ezer katona próbálja megerősíteni. A hatóságok szeptember óta közel 400 gyilkosságot regisztráltak, melyek közül sok összefüggésben lehet Ismael „El Mayo” Zambada letartóztatásával.
A helyzet súlyosságára az Egyesült Államok mexikói nagykövete, Ken Salazar is felhívta a figyelmet: Salazar bírálta Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador elnök korábbi politikáját, mondván, az túlzott engedékenységet mutatott a bűnözéssel szemben. Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexikó jelenlegi elnöke közölte, hogy kormánya „diplomáciai jegyzéket” küldött az amerikai nagykövetségnek, s folytatják a szoros együttműködést az Egyesült Államokkal a biztonság fokozása érdekében.

Az eset Uruapan városban központjában történt. A merényletben egy másik ember is megsebesült.
Helyi sajtójelentések szerint a 25 éves Mauricio Cruz Solís saját hírportált működtetett Minuto x Minuto címen Michoacán második legnagyobb városában. A mintegy 350 ezer lakosú Uruapan Mexikó egyik legfontosabb avokádótermelő régiójában fekszik, ahol több bűnszervezet is próbál védelmi pénzt kicsikarni a termelőktől.
A helyi polgármesterrel készített interjúban Cruz Solís az egyik piacon keletkezett tűzről faggatta a politikust. A hétvégén több üzlethelyiség is leégett, a tűz oka egyelőre ismeretlen.
Alfredo Ramírez, Michoacán kormányzója elítélte a gyilkosságot.
A Riporterek Határok Nélkül (RSF) nevű nemzetközi újságíró jogvédő szervezet szerint Mexikó az egyik legveszélyesebb ország a sajtó dolgozói számára. Az idén már négy újságírót öltek meg.

A mexikói haditengerészet pénteken közölte, hogy 23 embert tartóztatott le az eddigi legnagyobb drogfogása során, amikor mintegy 8,4 tonna illegális szállítmányt foglaltak le az ország délnyugati csendes-óceáni partjainál végrehajtott akcióban – számolt be róla szombaton a Reuters hírügynökség.
„Ez az eddigi legnagyobb lefoglalt kábítószer-mennyiség egy tengeri művelet során, amelyre az intézmény történetében még nem volt példa” – áll a haditengerészet közleményében.
A haditengerészet 8,7 ezer liter üzemanyagot és hat csónakot is lefoglalt a Michoacán államban található Lázaro Cárdenas település közelében, valamint délebbre, Guerrero állam partjainál. „A 23 őrizetbe vett személyt, valamint a hat hajót, a feltételezett kábítószert és az üzemanyagot átadták az illetékes hatóságoknak, hogy megkezdhessék a megfelelő vizsgálatokat” – tette hozzá a haditengerészet. A lefoglalt vagyontárgyak értéke legalább kétmilliárd peso, átszámolva megközelítőleg 37 milliárd forint.
Az Egyesült Államok sürgette Mexikót, hogy fokozza erőfeszítéseit a kábítószer-kereskedelem megállítására, míg Mexikó nyomást gyakorolt az Egyesült Államokra, hogy tegyen többet a határon át Mexikóba irányuló, bűnözői csoportoknak szánt lőfegyverek áramlásának megfékezésére.

Rémület lett úrra a turistákon az ötcsillagos Riu Caribe szállodánál, miután fegyveresek jelentek meg az üdülőhely területén és lövéseket adtak le.
A hatóságok szerint célzott támadás volt – áll a New York Post közleményében. A vendégek sikoltozva rohantak be az épületbe a strandfelszerelésükkel és órákon át egy zárt térben tartották őket.
A hotel közleményt adott ki, miszerint a halott férfi nem tartozott a szálloda vendégei vagy alkalmazottai közé – írja a Daily Mail.
A beszámolók szerint a gyanúsítottak tüzet nyitva jet-skivel elmenekültek a helyszínről.
A rendőrség nem azonosította az elhunyt férfit, de a mentők megállapították, hogy a helyszínen meghalt.
Korábban is történt már hasonló eset, melyről az Origo is beszámolt. 2021-ben rivális drogbandák tagjai nyitottak tüzet Mexikóban, a Cancúntól délre található Bahia Petempich egyik hoteljének strandján. A lövöldözés során két ember meghalt.

Két idős arizonai nőt lőttek agyon egy autópályán Mexikói észak részén. Sonora államban történt a kegyetlen gyilkosság, amiről a helyi ügyészek pénteken számoltak be, hozzátéve, azonnal elrendelték a felelősök felkutatását.
Az államügyészség szerint egy 72 és egy 82 éves nő az áldozat, akikre egy felborult Nissan Pathfinderben találtak rá az autópálya szélén. Az incidenst 10 óra 30 perckor jelentették, majd megérkeztek a rendőrök és a nyomozók a helyszínre.
A nők amerikai-mexikói állampolgárok voltak, amiről egy helyi biztonsági forrás számolt be a Reuters hírügynökségnek. Egy olyan szakaszon találták meg a holttesteket, ami hírhedt az erőszakról és a migránsok illegális kereskedeleméről, akik egy jobb élet reményében próbálnak eljutni az Egyesült Államok területére.
Az ügyészség közleménye szerint a két nő eredetileg Caborcából származott. Az incidensre reagáló nemzeti gárda és a hadsereg tisztjei egy sötétkék színű Ford F-150-et találtak a közelben, amit elloptak. A helyszínen AK-47-es lőszer is volt, amiket ugyancsak lefoglaltak a hatóságok a nyomozás részeként.

Július óta több száz mexikói volt kénytelen menedéket keresni a szomszédos Guatemalában a drogkartellek „kényszertoborzása” miatt – jelentette ki pénteken a mexikói külügyminiszter.
Alicia Barcena sajtótájékoztatóján kijelentette, hogy az ország legdélibb államában, Chiapasban található Amatenango városából július 23-a óta mintegy négyszáz ember menekült el. Ezeknek az embereknek a mintegy fele még mindig a guatemalai Cuilco településen tartózkodik.
Elmondása szerint a helyi családokat az aggasztja a legjobban, hogy a bűnözői csoportok elkezdtek fiatalokat toborozni. Hozzátette, ezek az erőszakos toborzási kísérletek a két fegyveres banda közötti „folyamatos összecsapások” keretében történtek.
Chiapas államban a Jalisco Nueva Generación és a Sinaloa kartell, Mexikó két legnagyobb bűnszövetkezete közötti rivalizálás miatt fokozódott az erőszak. Június végén legalább 19 ember vesztette életét ebben az államban a kartellek közötti összecsapások során.
A kartellekkel kapcsolatos erőszaknak Mexikóban 2006 óta mintegy 450 ezer halottja és több mint százezer eltűntje van.
Tizennyolc éve Felipe Calderon akkori mexikói elnök (2006–2012) a hadsereget vetette be a kábítószer-kereskedelem leküzdése érdekében.
Júniusban a mexikói hatóságok több mint négyezer embert helyeztek el, akik a La Concordiától mintegy száz kilométerre északra fekvő Tula városból menekültek el a szervezett bűnözéssel összefüggő, többnapos erőszakos cselekmények miatt.
Az elmúlt időszakban nem ez volt az egyetlen véres leszámolás mexikói drogkartellek között, ugyanis május közepén irtózatos mészárlást végeztek drogbandák. Akkor tizenegyen haltak meg ugyancsak Chiapas államban egy heves lövöldözésben.
