A görög hatóságok több mint egymillió euró értékű kokaint fedeztek fel egy Dél-Amerikából érkező banánszállítmányba rejtve – közölte kedden az athéni parti őrség.
A hatóságok mintegy 35 kilogramm kokaint találtak harminc csomagba rejtve egy Ecuadorból érkező, banánokkal teli konténer hűtőrendszerében. A pireuszi kikötőben hétfőn lefoglalt kábítószerre amerikai közreműködéssel találtak rá – szerepel a parti őrség közleményében.
Májusban a görög hatóságok nemzetközi bűnözői csoport felszámolását jelentették be, amely Latin-Amerikából csempészett kábítószert Európába fagyasztott áruk közé rejtve. Napokkal később a görög rendőrség egy több mint száz kilós, fagyasztott tintahalak közé rejtett kokainszállítmányt foglalt le Pireusz kikötővárosban.

Görögország betiltotta a juhok és kecskék szállítását az országban, hogy megfékezze a rendkívül fertőző kecskepestis terjedését.
A mezőgazdasági minisztérium közlése szerint „a juhok és kecskék tenyésztési, hizlalási és vágási célú szállítása Görögország egész területén tilos”, majd hozzátette, hogy új eseteket észleltek a középső Lárisza régióban és a déli Korinthoszban. A Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) néven is ismert vírus a fertőzött állatok 80-100 százalékát elpusztíthatja, de szerencsére az embereket nem érinti, írja a BBC.
A görög mezőgazdasági minisztérium hétfői közleményében azt írta, hogy a tilalmat „a betegség terjedésének korlátozása és felszámolása érdekében” vezették be, valamint az állattenyésztőket, a sajtkészítőket, a vágóház-tulajdonosokat és a takarmányszállítókat tájékoztatták az új korlátozásokról.
A hétvégén a minisztérium tisztviselői sürgős megbeszéléseket tartottak a helyi hatóságokkal azokban a régiókban, ahol az új PPR-eseteket észlelték. A minisztérium közölte, hogy vizsgálat folyik a járvány forrásának meghatározására, és nem zárja ki a külföldről származó „gyanús importot”.
Görögország az Európai Unió tagállamainak állat-egészségügyi szolgálataival is kapcsolatot tart. Az uniós előírások szerint a teljes állományból ki kell válogatni azokat az állatokat, melyeknél PPR-megbetegedést tapasztaltak, majd az érintett gazdaságot fertőtleníteni kell. Görögországban már legalább 7000 állatot öltek le azóta, hogy a betegség július 11-én először megjelent az országban.

A turisztikai társaságok nagyszabású erdőtüzek miatt kénytelenek voltak evakuálni több száz ügyfelüket, akik a görögországi Kos szigetére érkeztek nyaralni. A hírt az RMF24 közölte.
Az SVT svéd műsorszolgáltató jelentése szerint július 1-jén este a mentők parancsára reggelre megkezdték a svéd turisták evakuálását a Kardamena város környékén található szállodákból, összesen több mint 200 személyről van szó.
Az evakuált turistákat iskolai tornatermekben helyezték el. A görög Kathimerini jelentése szerint összesen mintegy 10 000 embert – turistákat és helyi lakosokat – evakuáltak a sziget veszélyes zónájából. Jelen pillanatban a Kardamena irányába terjedő tüzet már sikerült megfékezni.

Újabb erdőtüzek pusztítanak a görög Híosz és Kósz szigeteken. Kiriákosz Micotákisz görög miniszterelnök hétfőn a lakosság együttműködésének fontosságára figyelmeztetett a lángok megfékezése szempontjából.
Mint arról beszámoltunk, tűz ütött ki egy Athéntől nagyjából 20 kilométerre található sűrű erdőségben szombaton. A görög hatóságok tizenöt helikoptert, illetve repülőgépet, valamint tűzoltók százait vetették be a lángok megfékezésére a fővárostól nagyjából 20 kilométerre található sűrű erdőségben. Vasárnapra végül sikerült eloltani az erdőtüzet, most azonban újabbak pusztítanak a görög Híosz és Kósz szigeteken.
A katasztrófavédelem hétfőn evakuálási parancsot adott ki a Híosz szigetének nyugati részén fekvő Metohinál élők számára. Arra szólították fel a lakosságot, hogy biztonságuk érdekében menjenek át a közeli tengerpartra. A délebbre fekvő Kósz sziget középső részén húsz tűzoltó, egy helikopter és önkéntes tűzoltók próbálták megfékezni az újonnan kitört erdőtüzet.
Kivételesen nehéz júniusunk volt az időjárási viszonyok tekintetében, az évszakhoz mérten nagyfokú szárazsággal és szokatlanul erős széllel – mondta Kiriákosz Micotákisz a hétfői kormányülésen, emlékeztetve, hogy az idei nyár az előrejelzések szerint különösen veszélyesnek ígérkezik.
A kormányfő hatékonynak nevezte a drónok megelőző használatát az erdőtüzekre való figyelmeztetés terén, továbbá méltatta a hatóságok és az önkéntes tűzoltók közötti együttműködést, amelynek köszönhetően alacsony szinten tudták tartani a tüzek okozta károkat.
Elmondása szerint az egyik legnehezebb időszakhoz érkeztek, amelyet lehetetlen a lakosság segítsége nélkül átvészelni, különösképpen a megelőzés terén.
A forró, száraz időjárás az erős széllel párosítva júniusban Görögországban és Törökországban is erdőtüzeket okozott. Az idei nyár a korábbiakhoz képest kifejezetten veszélyesnek ígérkezik, mivel egy különösen enyhe, csapadék nélküli telet követ.

Tűzoltóhelikopterek, repülőgépek és tűzoltók százai küzdenek a lángok megfékezése érdekében. A térségben hosszabb ideje nem volt csapadék és hetek óta 35 Celsius fokot is meghaladó hőhullám tombol. Szombaton ráadásul heves széllökések is voltak, amelyek a füstfelhőket a görög főváros felé fújták, ahol számos kerületben lehetett érezni az égett szagot és hamut.
Az ERT közszolgálati rádió szerint az erdőtűz térségében nincsenek turisztikai létesítmények. A polgári védelem ismételten figyelmeztetett, hogy az ország központi részein a hétvégén másodfokú tűzvédelmi riasztás van érvényben.
Meteorológusok szerint az elmúlt tél volt az ország feljegyzett történek legmelegebb tele, ami kedvez további erdőtüzek keletkezésének az idén. Görögországban rendszeresek az erdő- és bozóttüzek a nyári időszakban, és az oltást sok esetben nehezítik széllökések és a terepviszonyok is.

Ándrosz és Szalamina szigetén, valamint Görögország más részein is erdőtüzek tombolnak; szombaton országszerte több száz tűzoltó harcolt a viharos erejű szél által táplált lángokkal.
Az Égei-tengeren fekvő Ándroszon több mint 30 tűzoltó oltotta a lángokat két repülő és öt helikopter támogatásával. A szigeten óvatosságból négy települést evakuáltak.
A tűzoltóság szóvivője szerint további erősítést várnak a nap folyamán. Hozzátette: egyelőre sérülésekről vagy anyagi károkról nem kaptak jelentést.
A meteorológusok szerint idén nyáron kivételesen korán kezdődött a forró, száraz, szeles időjárás.
A Peloponnészoszi-félszigeten is számos erdőtűz pusztít, pénteken egy 55 éves férfi hunyt el kórházban, aki a félsziget nyugati részén, Iliában szenvedett égési sérüléseket. A tűzoltóknak szombaton Athéntól nyugatra fekvő Szalamina-szigeten és a fővárostól 30 kilométerre keletre is sikerült megfékezniük az erdőtüzeket.
