A halálos áldozatok között eddig 88 nő és gyerek van. Az esőzések országszerte otthonokat, utakat, hidakat rongált meg.
A legsúlyosabb helyzet az ország déli kikötővárosaában, Karacsiban van, ahol hétfőre egész városrészek kerültek víz alá. A lakosok térdig érő vízben gyalogosan, vagy biciklivel próbáltak meg elmenekülni otthonaikból, de voltak akik csónakokkal igyekeztek menteni az értékeiket. A hatóságok félkatonai csapatokat hívtak segítségül az elárasztott utcák vizének elvezetésében és az emberek evakuálásában.
Az esőzések állítólag majdnem kétszer olyan hevesek, mint az év ezen időszakában általában. Június közepén kezdődtek, ekkor Beludzsisztán délnyugati tartományában okozták a legnagyobb kárt, ott eddig 63 ember halt meg.
Szindh tartományban, aminek Karacsi a főváros, a helyi katasztrófavédelem szerint legalább 26 ember meghalt. Heves esőzés sújtotta Iszlámábádot és Pandzsáb keleti tartományát is.
Szakértők szerint a klímaváltozás az oka az átlagosnál hevesebb pakisztáni felhőszakadásnak.

Egy gyermek meghalt a szíriai Qastal Miqdad városában, amikor a hó súlya alatt összeomlott a nagy katonai sátor.
Az extrém hidegnek több gyermek áldozata is van.
A helyi menekültügyi szervezetek szerint több ezer ember van veszélyben az extrém hideg miatt. Ráadásul az előrejelzések szerint a hőmérséklet akár −14 Celsius-fok alá is csökkenhet, ami 40 éve nem látott hőmérsékleti rekordnak számítana – olvasható az Esőtánc cikkében.
Havazásról számoltak be Irakból is, ahol az északi Kurdzsisztán tartományt borította be a hó. A fővárosban, Bagdadban 1914 után és 2020 után harmadjára észleltek havazást.
Szaúd-Arábia sem úszta meg, január 12-én az északon fekvő Tabuk régióban havazott. A térség nagyjából 400 méterre fekszik a tenger szintje felett. A hideg időjárás ráadásul tartósnak bizonyul, volt olyan térség, ahol −5 Celsius-fokot is mértek.

Az amerikai Colorado államban a múlt hét végén tűzvész és orkán erejű szélvihar pusztított, most azonban a fagyos hideg és a hó miatt hosszú sorokban várakoznak az autósok, hogy hősugárzókat és palackozott vizet kapjanak az Üdvhadseregtől.
Egy nap leforgása alatt csaknem ezer ház vált a lángok martalékává. és csak a hirtelen lehulló félméteres hónak köszönhető, hogy nem több. Az erdőtűzben – amely a rendkívül száraz őszt követően szokatlanul későn tört ki – három embernek veszett nyoma.
Az időjárás drasztikus változása fagyos hideggel is járt, az éjszaka ismét legalább 15 centiméter hó esett az érintett területen, Denver és Boulder között. Sokfelé nincs áram és a gáz.

Az olaszok több felvételt is készítettek a természeti katasztrófáról, amelyeken látszik, hogy valóban súlyos a helyzet az országban. A fotók tanulsága szerint több embert a katasztrófavédők mentettek meg és az autókat is majdnem elnyelte a víz az utakon.

Olaszországot északon árvíz és földcsuszamlás, délen továbbra is erdőtüzek sújtják – jelentette az MTI.
Dél-Tirol tartományban 8,7 centiméternyi eső esett egy nap alatt, elárasztva több utat és a házak alsó szintjeit. Az esőzések miatt Velencében a csatornák vízszintje szombat este elérte a kritikus egyméteres szintet. Ez az az mérték, amikor a lagúnák városának legalacsonyabban fekvő pontját, a Szent Márk teret elönti a víz.
Augusztusban az áradás igen ritka jelenség Velencében, még soha nem történt meg, hogy ebben a nyári hónapban elérje az egy métert a vízszint.
A Comói-tó is kilépett medréből Como városánál, utcákat öntve el. A meteorológiai előrejelzések arról szólnak, hogy a következő napokban is várható sok eső a térségben.
Az ország déli részén ezzel szemben az erdőtüzek egyre inkább fenyegetik a mezőgazdasági és a természetvédelmi területeket, amelyeket a szárazság már egyébként is sújtott. Több ezer hektárnyi erdő, legelő, olaj- és gyümölcsfaültetvény égett már le. A kilátások ebben a térségben sem jók, mert újabb hőhullám várható. Szicília és Szardínia szigetén kedden és szerdán akár 45 Celsius-fokos hőmérsékletre is számítani kell.
