Értesülések szerint a Picsit tartománybeli Vat Nern Por általános iskola foglalkoztató központjának fém tetőszerkezete omlott be a heves széllökések és esőzés kísérte viharban.
A létesítményben számos diák keresett menedéket az ítéletidő elől. Továbbra sem működött az áramszolgáltatás több százezer háztartásban Québecben pénteken, két nappal a Kanada keleti részén átsöprő jégvihar után. A természeti katasztrófa miatt két ember életét vesztette, és jelentős károkat okozott, mindenekelőtt Montrealban.
Az ónos eső által érintettek több mint egyharmadánál visszakapcsolták az áramszolgáltatást, de pénteken még így is mintegy 630 ezer háztartás volt áram nélkül a Hydro-Québec áramszolgáltató közlése szerint.
Montrealban – ahol az áramkimaradások mintegy felét észlelték – hat menedékszállást nyitottak az áram nélkül maradt lakók számára. A szállások napközben is nyitva tartanak a hosszú húsvéti hétvégén.
A hatóságok szerint az ítéletidőnek Kanadában két halálos áldozata van: Ontario keleti részében egy helyi lakosra rádőlt egy fa, egy hatvanéves québeci férfit pedig egy faág sebesített meg halálosan a kertjében.

A powerful storm rumbled through Moscow on Thursday afternoon, carrying heavy rains and winds that ripped scores of trees from the ground and killed at least one person, local authorities said.
Két regionális vonat is kisiklott pénteken Svájcban, egymástól függetlenül – írja az AP hírügynökség. Mindkét baleset azután következett be, hogy hatalmas vihar csapott le az országra, intenzív széllel és esővel.
A balesetek Lüscherz és Büren zum Hof településeken történtek, a nyugati országrészben, a főváros Bern közelében – közölte a rendőrség (a két település egymástól nem egészen 40 kilométerre van).
A Büren zum Hof-i balesetben 12 ember (9 felnőtt és 3 gyermek) sérült meg, egyikük sérülései súlyosak. A rendőrség szerint a Lüscherzben történt kisiklásban szintén többen megsérültek, de a sérültek számáról és állapotuk súlyosságáról nem állt rendelkezésre azonnal további információ – írta az AP.
A vonatokért felelős közlekedési vállalatok, az Aare Seeland Mobil és a Regional Transit Bern-Solothurn megerősítették a kisiklást a saját honlapjukon. A balesetben érintett vasútvonalakat lezárták.

Március 27-én este több bejelentés is érkezett a Rendkívüli Helyzetek Állami Szolgálatának (DSZNSZ) kárpátaljai kirendeltségéhez arról, hogy a szélsőséges időjárási viszonyok miatt 13 fa dőlt ki – a legtöbb az Ungvári, a Huszti és Munkácsi járásokban.
Ezenkívül kilenc településen szünetel az áramszolgáltatás Kárpátalján: Rát, Nagydobrony, Nagygejőc, Kisgejőc, Antalóc, Kövesliget, Gázló, Kisábránka, Bukovec lakói maradtak villanyáram nélkül.
A probléma megoldásán már dolgoznak az oblenerho szakemberei.

„Nagyon jelentős, kiterjedt károk keletkeztek az államban, néhány helyen napokba fog telni, mire az áramszolgáltatás helyreáll” – mondta Andy Beshear kormányzó szombati sajtótájékoztatóján.

New York állam hatóságai hétfő délelőtt közölték, hogy az állam nyugati részén 27-re növekedett a halottak száma. Csak Buffalo városában húszan veszítették életüket. A hatóságok előzetesen arra hívták fel a figyelmet, hogy a korábban közölteknél jóval több halálos áldozattól tartanak, mert sokakról nem tudnak azok közül, akik otthonukban rekedtek, vagy az utakon autójukba szorultak.

Hétfő reggelre az Egyesült Államok szinte teljes területén – Florida déli részét és a nyugati partvidéket kivéve – ismét fagypont alá csökkent a hőmérséklet, a leghidegebbet, mínusz 22 Celsius-fokot Észak-Dakota államban mérték. A következő napokban fokozatos melegedés várható, de az ország nagy részén maradnak az átlag alatti hőmérsékletek.
