A belga hatóságok őrizetbe vettek tizenhárom embert kedd reggel Antwerpenben egy terroristacsoport elleni nyomozás keretében – számolt be az MTI a belga szövetségi ügyészségre hivatkozva.
A házkutatásokkal járó akció folyamán, amelyben a szövetségi igazságügyi rendészet mintegy száz ügynöke vett részt, nem történt incidens. Az ügyészség szerint a művelet célja az volt, „hogy jobban be tudják azonosítani egy, a városban kialakult dzsihadista szalafista csoport tevékenységét”.
A gyanúsítottaknak kedden kell megjelenniük az ügyészség előtt, amely még a nap folyamán dönt letartóztatásba helyezésükről. A flandriai Antwerpen már korábban is a nemzetközi iszlamizmus egyik európai bázisa volt. Ebben a kikötővárosban alakult meg a Sharia4Belgium csoport, amelyet 2015-ben terrorista szervezetnek minősítettek az illetékes hatóságok.
Korábbi szellemi vezetőjét, a marokkói származású Fouad Belkacemet ugyanebben az évben a belga bíróság 12 év börtönbüntetésre ítélte, egyebek között amiatt, hogy Belgiumban harcosokat toborzott a Szíriában küzdő dzsihadisták soraiba. A férfit 2018-ban megfosztották belga állampolgárságtól.

Egy marokkói imámot októberben, nemzetbiztonsági fenyegetésre hivatkozva, kitiltottak Belgiumból, mert egy videófelvételen „zsidók elégetésére” szólított fel – számolt be az MTI csütörtökön a belga sajtóra hivatkozva.
A VRT flamand közszolgálati televízió által nyilvánosságra hozott információkat Sammy Mahdi, a belga menekültügyi és migrációs államtitkár is megerősítette.
Az államtitkár a sajtónak elmondta, hogy három hónappal ezelőtt döntött a tilalom elrendeléséről „a biztonsági szolgálatoktól kapott információk alapján”, és „a nemzetbiztonságot fenyegető súlyos veszélyre utaló jelek miatt”. A tilalom tíz évre szól.
Az imám, Mohamed Toujgani, korábban a molenbeeki Al-Khalil mecsetben, Belgium egyik legnagyobb muszlim imahelyén prédikált. A VRT szerint 2009-ben a zsidók elégetésére szólította fel híveit, az erről készült videó 2019-ben bukkant fel a világhálón. A televíziós csatorna közölte, hogy Toujgani bocsánatot kért a beszédért, és arra hivatkozott, hogy Izraelnek a Gázai övezetben élő palesztinok elleni „háborúja” miatt ragadtatta magát az uszításra.
Az imám, aki többek között a belgiumi Marokkói Imámok Ligájának vezetője, az állambiztonság, a belga polgári hírszerző szolgálat megfigyelése alatt állt. Jelenleg ugyan nem tartózkodik Belgiumban, de ügyvédjén keresztül fellebbezést nyújtott be a kiutasító határozat ellen.
A flamand televíziós csatorna szerint a vallási vezető 40 éve él Belgiumban a családjával együtt.

A hírportál a karácsony napján a nyugat-belgiumi Genkben késeléssel végződött összetűzésről tudósított. A késelés után egy afgán gyanúsítottat letartóztattak, egy 18 éves helyi férfi pedig kórházban lábadozik. Az összecsapások résztvevői gyakran kiskorú menekültek, akik életkoruk miatt nem toloncolhatók ki az országból – emlékeztetett a brüsszeli lap, de leszögezte, hogy a legutóbbi késelésnél – bár a gyanúsítottat hivatalosan kiskorúként regisztrálták – a nyomozás során kiderült, hogy valójában felnőtt.
A hírlap rámutatott, hogy Belgiumba legnagyobb számban afgánok érkeznek, akiknek 60 százaléka kísérő nélküli kiskorú. Ugyanakkor egyre többször fordul elő, hogy felnőtt afgánok különböző előnyök megszerzése végett kiskorúként regisztráltatják magukat, ezért a hatóságok több esetben csontvizsgálatot végeznek.
Sammy Mahdi migrációért és menekültügyéért felelős belga kereszténydemokrata miniszter e vizsgálatok felgyorsítását kezdeményezte minap a belga parlamentben. Mahdi szerint az embercsempészeket többször a kiskorú menekülteknek járó, mintegy 3500 eurós évi támogatásból fizetik ki, ezért a miniszter bejelentette, hogy jövő évtől csak az összeg egynegyedét folyósítják, a többit a gyermekgondozás költségeinek fedezésére fordítják.
Marino Keulen a limburgi tartományban található Lanaken polgármestere azt nyilatkozta a De Standaard napilapnak, hogy a helyi menekültközpontban „az afgánok sok gondot okoznak”. „Időről időre betörnek egy ablakot vagy összezúznak néhány bútort. Ez elbátortalanítja a személyzetet, akik közül néhányan már fel is mondtak” – mondta Keulen.
Sammy Mahdi a napilapnak adott nyilatkozatában ezt azzal magyarázta, hogy „az afgánok kevésbé iskolázottak, mint iraki vagy szír menekülttársaik, ráadásul ezek a közösségek nem is jönnek ki jól egymással”. A miniszter az is kijelentette, hogy „jobb lenne, ha a menedékkérők, beleértve a kiskorúakat is, addig várakoznának a határnál, amíg hivatalosan menekültstátuszt nem kapnak”. „A menedékkérők mintegy kétharmada nem jogosult a nemzetközi védelemre. De ha egyszer már az európai határokon belül vannak, nem lehet őket eltávolítani” – tette hozzá. Mahdi.

A frissen megfertőzöttek 41 százaléka esetében mutatták ki a koronavírus új, omikron variánsát Belgiumban, miközben továbbra csökkenő tendenciát mutatnak a főbb járványügyi mutatók az országban – közölte a helyi média pénteken.
A The Brussels Times című, angol nyelvű belga internetes hírportál pénteki jelentése szerint az omikron továbbra is gyorsan terjed, az új variánssal megfertőzöttek száma az elmúlt három napban megkétszereződött, egy hét alatt megnégyszereződött Belgiumban.
A portál Steven Van Gucht virológust idézte, aki szerint ez a dinamika folytatódni fog, napokon belül komoly fellendülést okozva a főbb járványügyi mutatók esetében. A frissen megfertőzötteknél jelenleg naponta körülbelül háromezer esetben mutatják ki az omikront, szemben az egy héttel ezelőtti mintegy hétszáz esettel. Elmondta: várhatóan még az év vége előtt az új variáns lesz a domináns törzs Belgiumban, az összes fertőzés több mint felét teheti ki. Noha a kórházi ápolás kockázata a korábbi variánsokhoz képest lényegesen alacsonyabb az omikronnál, a szükséges kezelések továbbra is nagy nyomást helyezhetnek az ápolókra – mondta.
A La Libre Belgique című, francia nyelvű napilap arról tájékoztatott pénteken, hogy továbbra is csökkenő tendenciát mutat a koronavírussal újonnan fertőzöttek napi átlagos száma Belgiumban.
Az illetékes belga közegészségügyi intézet jelentése szerint a hét folyamán naponta átlagosan 7472 új fertőzöttet vettek nyilvántartásba, ami 36 százalékos csökkenést jelent az előző héthez képest. Naponta átlagosan 159 embert szállítanak kórházba koronavírus-fertőzés miatt, ami 33 százalékkal marad el az előző időszak adataitól. A múlt heti jelentéshez képest 26 százalékkal kevesebb, jelenleg 2205 embert ápolnak kórházban a járvánnyal összefüggésben, közülük 16 százalékkal kevesebben, 660-an szorulnak intenzív ellátásra. Naponta átlagosan 36-an haltak meg a vírus következtében Belgiumban, ez a mutató 22 százalékkal marad el az előző hétnapos időszak adataitól.
A járvány kezdete óta 2 millió 30 ezer 878-an fertőződtek meg az új típusú koronavírussal, és 28 110-en haltak meg a szövődményekben Belgiumban.

A Brussels Airlines belga légitársaság utaskísérőinek hétfői, egynapos sztrájkja miatt a légitársaság törölte Brüsszelből induló járatainak mintegy felét, 116-ból 57-et.
Kim Daenen, a légitársaság szóvivője a sajtónak elmondta, hogy a járattörlésekről már a múlt héten döntöttek, így az utasokat tájékoztatták a változásról. A vállalat az érinettek számára a jegyek átfoglalását ajánlotta fel, illetve a jegy árának visszatérítését.
A belga sajtó szerint a légiutas-kísérők szakszervezete már korábban felhívta a figyelmet, hogy a dolgozók élni fognak a sztrájk lehetőségével, a túlzott munkaterhelés, a koronavírus-járványhoz köthető munkaerőhiány, illetve a kollektív szerződések be nem tartása miatt.
A szakszervezet azt is kiemelte, hogy a légitársaságok személyzetének többször kellett már szembenéznie a járványügyi szabályozások miatti nehézségekkel. A maszkok járaton történő kötelező viselésének érvényesítse többször azt a helyzetet idézte elő, hogy a szabályok betartani nem hajlandó utasok a személyzetre támadtak. A szakszervezeti képviselők hozzátették, hogy a légitársaság „zaklatást és megfélemlítő módszereket alkalmazott munkatársaival szemben, ami csak az elégedetlenségüket növelte.”
A sztrájk hétfőn reggel 5.00 órakor kezdődött és kedd reggel 5.00 óráig tart.

A menedékkérők számára fenntartott szálláshelyek megteltek, így több száz menedékkérő kényszerült arra, hogy az utcán töltse az éjszakát.
Belgium fővárosában már leesett az első hó, ami miatt a hőmérséklet is gyorsan fagypont alá csökkent, ennek ellenére megannyi menedékkérő töltötte az utcán az éjszakát. Az alapvető probléma abban rejlik, hogy a bevándorlók számára fenntartott szálláshelyek megteltek, ezért a bevándorlók az utcán várakoztak.
A Petit-Chateau szálláshely, mely a fővárosban található, eredetileg 800 fő befogadására alkalmas, ebből azonban 200 ágy csak vészhelyzet esetére van fenntartva. A szállás azonban megtelt, így azok, akiknek nem maradt hely, kénytelen az utcán várakozni az épület előtt a további ügyintézésre.
A nyilvántartása vétel Petit-Chateau-ban történik, a menedékkérelmeket tehát itt lehet benyújtani, ez pedig az első lépés ahhoz, hogy a leadott kérelem elbírálásáig ideiglenesen elhelyezzék őket. Az EUobserver értesülései szerint a szálláshely dolgozói kijelentették, hogy a hatóságokat felkészületlenül érte az újabb menekülthullám.
A dolgozók szerint az USA afganisztáni kivonulása is nagy szerepet játszott a legújabb menekülthullámban, ezen felül pedig a logisztikával is vannak problémák: a szálláshely 1500 férőhelyet tart fenn a koronavírusos betegeknek, valamint több ezret a nyári áradások károsultjainak.

A koronavírus-járvány negyedik hullámával együtt a korlátozások elleni tüntetések is felerősödtek Európában. Az óvintézkedésekhez és a védőoltáshoz való hozzáállás egyre inkább megosztja a társadalmakat. Belgiumban is vannak, akik szerint kötelezővé kéne tenni a vakcinát, de mások ezt hevesen ellenzik.
A hétvégén Brüsszelben, Bécsben és Rotterdamban is feldühödött emberekkel találták szembe magukat a rendőrök a koronavírus-járvánnyal kapcsolatos korlátozások miatt szervezett tüntetéseken. A belga fővárosban tapasztalt erőszakot elítélte a kormányfő.
„Természetesen egy szabad országban élünk, ahol gondolati szabadság van és mindenkinek joga van tüntetni. Ha azonban egy demonstráció erőszakba torkollik, az elfogadhatatlan, ahogy az is, ha az erőszak a rendőrök ellen irányul” – mondta Alexander de Croo.
Legyen kötelező az oltás, vagy ne?
Az Euronews stábja egy brüsszeli oltóközpontban járt, ahol jelenleg 65 év felettiek kaphatják meg a harmadik számú koronavírus elleni vakcinájukat. A sorban állók között nem volt egyetértés azt illetően, hogy osztrák mintára legyen-e kötelező a védőoltás felvétele.
„Ez egy világjárvány, és szerintem ha azt akarjuk, hogy vége legyen, akkor szükség van erre. Ha nem sikerül máshogy, kötelezővé kell tenni a vakcinákat” – mondta egy nő, egy férfi viszont úgy vélte, erre nincs szükség, de mindenkinek érdemes beoltatnia magát, hogy véget érjen ez a nehéz időszak.
A vakcinához való hozzáállás egyre inkább megosztja a társadalmat. A Brüsszeli Szabadegyetem epidemiológus professzora szerint a szkeptikusokat inkább meggyőzni kéne, mint kényszeríteni:
„Kettéosztjuk a társadalmat, oltottakra és oltatlanokra. De közben tudjuk, hogy az összes óvintézkedés együtt számít, és az, ahogy a lakosság betartja ezeket. Újabb áradások sodornak el gépkocsikat, változtatnak mocsárrá területeket Belgiumban a szombati heves esőzések nyomán. Az ország válságközpontja arra figyelmeztetett, hogy az időjárás napokig változatlan maradhat.
A szombati felhőszakadások Dinant városát sújtották leginkább, ahol autók egész sorát sodorta el az ár, és épületekben is komoly károk keletkeztek. Újabb halálesetekről ugyanakkor nem érkezett hír.
Belgiumban és a vele szomszédos országokban a múlt heti áradások halálos áldozatainak megerősített száma 210-re emelkedett a héten, az anyagi kár pedig milliárdokra rúg.
Szakértők szerint a múlt hetihez hasonló, katasztrofális áradások gyakoribbá válnak a jövőben a klímaváltozás miatt, és az országoknak fel kell készülniük erre egyebek közt riasztórendszerek kiépítésével a lakosság mielőbbi figyelmeztetése végett.

Egészségi állapotának romlása miatt már hatvan migráns szorult kórházi kezelésre abból a 475 fős bevándorló-csoportból, amely május vége óta folytat éhségsztrájkot Brüsszelben. Az éhező migránsok célja, hogy a belga kormányt sarokba szorítva elérjék belgiumi státuszuk legalizálását, és azt, hogy mindannyian belgiumi letelepedési és munkavállalási engedélyt kapjanak. A belga kormány nem enged a zsarolásnak, és a belgiumi életre vágyó migránsokat a hivatalos bevándorlási kérelmek benyújtására biztatja, és ebben minden segítséget meg is ad számukra.
A hatályos törvényeket követő államvezetés szigorát látva azonban a sztrájkolók egy része múlt héten bejelentette, hogy már folyadékot sem hajlandó magához venni. Állapotuk vészes leromlása miatt ugyanakkor az éhségsztrájkolók engedélyt adtak az egészségi személyzetnek arra, hogy brüsszeli kórházakba szállítsák őket, ahol a migránsok engedélyezték az orvosoknak is, hogy infúzióval akadályozzák meg állapotuk további romlását és halálukat. A kórházi ápolás után erőre kapott éhségsztrájkolók visszatértek a tiltakozás eredeti helyszínére, hogy ott várják ki, amíg az éleződő politikai botrány miatt fordulat állhat be követeléseik teljesítésében.

A szombat reggeli összesítések szerint meghaladta a 150 főt a Németország északnyugati részét és a Benelux államokat sújtó áradások halálos áldozatainak a száma.
Németországban a koblenzi rendőrség közlése szerint eddig 90 ember halt meg a természeti katasztrófában Rajna-vidék-Pfalz tartományban. Előzőleg 43 halálos áldozatot jelentettek Észak-Rajna-Vesztfália tartományból. Az érintett tartományokban péntek délután még száz fölötti halálos áldozatról tudtak.
A helyi hatóságok közlése szerint bizonyosan tovább emelkedik még a halálos áldozatok száma, mert várhatóan további holttesteket találnak, ahogy folytatódnak a mentési munkálatok. Sok embert eltűntként tartanak nyilván.
Szombat reggel Észak-Rajna-Vesztfália tartomány kormánya közölte: csak ebben a német tartományban 19 ezer ember vesz részt a mentésben.
Mint írták, a válságstáb a nap 24 órájában figyelemmel kíséri a helyzetet, és koordinálja a mentést. Belgiumban péntek délutánig 23 halálos áldozatról tudtak Alexander De Croo miniszterelnök szombaton az egész napot az áradás sújtotta kelet-belgiumi régióban tölti. Vele utazik a katasztrófa sújtotta térségbe Ursula von der Leyen, az Európai Bizottság elnöke is. Belgiumban összesen 120 településen okozott károkat a napokon át tartó esőzés és az áradások.
Az áradások a Bernd nevű ciklonra vezethetők vissza, amely meleg és nedves levegőt szállított a térségbe, és sok helyütt napokig tartó esőzést okozott.
