Huszonkét bányász halt meg földcsuszamlás következtében egy észak-tanzániai bányában – közölték vasárnap a mentők.
A tragédia Simuyu régió Bariadi körzetében történt, a fővárostól, Dodomától 500 kilométerre északra.
Faustine Mtitu, a régió mentőszolgálatának illetékese elmondta, hogy a mentési munkálatok végéig huszonkét áldozatot találtak, valamennyien férfiak. Hozzátette: meggyőződésük, hogy sokkal többen rekedtek a törmelék alatt. Mint mondta, a bányában nem tartották be a biztonsági előírásokat, de további részleteket nem árult el.
A mentők vezetője nem közölte a baleset pontos körülményeit, a tragédia időpontja sem ismert.
Tanzánia a világ negyedik legnagyobb aranytermelője. A bányákban gyakran előfordulnak balesetek, a bányászokat nem látják el megfelelő védőfelszereléssel.
Tanzániában, Kenyában, Etiópiában és Szomáliában több hete tart a viharos esőzés az El Nino időjárási jelenség miatt. Szomáliában egymillióan hagyták el otthonukat, a térségben több mint háromszázan haltak meg.
Decemberben hetvenhatan haltak meg földcsuszamlások miatt Tanzánia északi részében, Katesh régióban.
Az árvizek miatt 5600-an kényszerültek elhagyni az otthonaikat.
A világ egyes térségeiben magas hőmérséklettel és aszályokkal járó, másokban heves esőzéseket előidéző El Nino jelenség várhatóan áprilisig tart.

A második legnagyobb kolumbiai várost, Medellint Chocó megye székhelyével, Quibdóval összekötő utat átmenetileg lezárták, mert több földcsuszamlás megrongálta – közölte a kormányzó hivatala.
Korábban úgy vélték, hogy mintegy harmincan rekedtek a sártömegek alatt.
A közösségi portálokon és a televíziókon sugárzott felvételeken látni lehetett, amint a hegyoldalról az útra zúduló föld autókat temet be. A katasztrófavédelem szerint harmincöt sérültet szállítottak kórházba.
Egy helyi vezető elmondta, hogy sokaknak sikerült kiszállni a gépkocsijukból és egy házba menekülniük Carmen de Atrato település közelében, de ott egy újabb földcsuszamlás betemette őket. A Csendes-óceán partján fekvő, trópusi erdő borította Chocó megyében nagy mennyiségű csapadék hullott le az elmúlt huszonnégy órában.
A rendőrség közölte: a mentésben együtt dolgoznak a mentőkkel és a katasztrófavédelemmel. Mintegy ötven katona is a helyszínre érkezett, hogy részt vegyen az eltűntek utáni kutatásban. Gustavo Petro elnök minden rendelkezésre álló segítséget megígért az X-en Chocó megyének.

A Jambo TV helyi televízió beszámolója szerint Tanzánia negyedik legmagasabb hegyének, a 3420 méter magas Hanang lejtőjén történt a földcsuszamlás, amely házakat sodort el a fővárostól, Dodomától 300 kilométerre északra található Katesh városában a kora reggeli órákban.

A szerencsétlenség a Göteborgot Oslóval összekötő autópályán történt, az ország nyugati partvidékén, mintegy 50 kilométerre északra a svéd nagyvárostól.
A földcsuszamlás egy 700 méter hosszú és 200 méter széles területet érint, a legsúlyosabb a helyzet egy 150 méter széles és 100 méter hosszú területen – tudatta közleményben a göteborgi mentőszolgálat.
Közölték azt is, hogy a tűzoltók több embert kimentettek az autójukból, és helikopteres mentésre is szükség volt. A TT svéd hírügynökség híradása szerint több autó és teherautó a földcsuszamlás miatt keletkezett gödrökbe zuhant. A mentők nem zárják ki további földcsuszamlások lehetőségét a környéken, a területet pedig kutyákkal vizsgálják át.

Fölcsuszamlás rombolt le több lakóépületet csütörtökön Indiában. A katasztrófa az ország északnyugati részén fekvő Himácsal Prades államban történt, a hírek szerint nem voltak halálos áldozatai. A több napon át tartó özönvízszerű esőzések hidakat és épületeket romboltak le, valamint járműveket sodortak el az északi Uttarakhand és Himácsal Prades államokban.
A rendkívüli időjárás miatt az utóbbi államban vasárnap óta már legalább 52 ember halt meg – vált ismertté az állam miniszterelnökének tájékoztatójából. Szuhvinder Szingh Szuhu figyelmeztette a lakosokat, maradjanak otthon, távol a vizektől. Tájékoztatása szerint az iskolák továbbra is zárva maradnak.
Tizenegy áldozat halt meg, amikor a helyi székvárosban, Szimlában összeomlott egy Siva hindu istenségnek szentelt templom. Aditja Negi, a kerület katasztrófavédelmének vezetője elmondta, hogy a mentési munkálatok folytatódnak, és attól tartanak, hogy legalább 10 ember rekedt még a romok alatt. A legsúlyosabban érintett területeken a főutak és az elektromos vezetékek súlyosan megrongálódtak, és emberek ezrei szigetelődtek el a külvilágtól. A vasúthálózat is súlyos károkat szenvedett. Uttarakhand államban mentőcsapatok próbálták kiszabadítani az embereket a földcsuszamlások alól. Összesen legalább 13 ember vesztette életét péntek óta a rossz időjárás miatt ebben az államban a hatóságok szerint.
