A National Trust brit kulturális és természeti örökségvédelmi jótékonysági alapítvány közlése szerint tengeri madarak tízezrei pusztulhatnak el az Egyesült Királyság egyik legjelentősebb természetes élőhelyén, az északi-tengeri Farne-szigeteken madárinfluenza miatt. Az alapítvány a kialakult helyzetet példátlan természeti tragédiának nevezte.
Természetvédelmi szakemberek már több mint 3000 madártetemet gyűjtöttek össze, hogy elégetésükkel elejét vegyék a fertőzés továbbterjedésének, de attól tartanak, hogy további sok ezer legyengült, beteg madár a sziklákról közvetlenül a tengerbe potyoghatott.
Az Anglia északkeleti része, Northumberland grófság partjai mentén elterülő, a National Trust felügyelete alatt álló, nemzetközileg is jelentős madárélőhely 23 fajnak, 200 ezer madárnak ad otthont. A ragály leginkább a sziklákon fészkelő fajokat sújtja, a vegyvédelmi öltözetet viselő vadőrök által összeszedett tetemek között különösen sok a lumma, a lunda és a csüllő.
Az elpusztult madarak között találtak több meggyűrűzöttet, köztük egy nyolcéves sarki csért, amely nyolcszor tehette meg az utat az Antarktiszra és vissza, összesen 230 ezer kilométert repülve. Megtalálták a tetemét egy 16 éves csüllőnek (sirályféle) is, amelyet 2006-ban gyűrűztek meg a szigeteken.
A szigetek már csaknem száz éve vannak a National Trust kezelésében, de nincs feljegyzés arról, hogy valaha is ki lettek volna téve ilyen nagy veszélynek az ott élő tengerimadár-kolóniák – közölte Simon Lee, a rezervátum igazgatója.
A National Trust a kormány segítségét kérte a járvány leküzdéséhez. Évente 45 ezer ember látogat a Farne-szigetekre, amelyek azonban július eleje óta le vannak zárva a turisták elől a madárinfluenza-járvány miatt.

Felfüggesztette a működést London egyik reptere, a Luton, mert a példátlan hőség miatt hibák keletkeztek a kifutópályán – közölte a Sky News. A kifutópályán jelenleg is dolgoznak, hogy a reptér mihamarabb újra működni tudjon.
Nagy-Britanniában az extrém hőség miatt vészhelyzetet hirdettek ki, a meteorológiai szolgálat pedig története során először kényszerült vörös riasztást kiadni. Ugyanakkor a hőhullám még nem is tetőzött, azt keddre várják, 39 fok körüli hőmérséklettel.
A brit légierő számára is problémát okoz a hőség; a Sky tudósítása szerint az egyik legnagyobb bázison, a Brize Nortonon megolvadt a kifutópálya.
A hőhullám miatt a vonatközlekedés is akadozik: komoly esélye van, hogy a hőség miatt meghajlanak a sínek, így a vonatok csak csökkentett sebességgel közlekedhetnek, így például Leeds és London között a megszokott két és fél óra alatt most öt órán át tart a vonatút.
A briteket arra biztatják, hogy tekintsenek el a nem létfontosságú utazásoktól.
Londonban több, a felszínen is közlekedő metrójárat működése szünetel, és van olyan vonattársaság, amely egyelőre nem ad ki újabb menetjegyeket. Vannak olyan kórházak is Angliában, amelyek lemondták a rutinvizsgálatokat és a halasztható műtéteket is a hőség miatt, és vannak iskolák is, amelyek bezártak, a tanári szakszervezet pedig közölte, támogatják azokat az igazgatókat, akik a bezárás mellett döntenek.

„Zelenszkij elnök a jelenlegi ukrajnai helyzetről és Oroszország legutóbbi lépéséről beszélt, a miniszterelnök pedig a brit haditechnikai eszközök újabb, köztük tíz önjáró löveg és lőszerek szállításáról tájékoztatott, amelyek a következő napokban, hetekben érkeznek meg Ukrajnába” – idézett a hírportál Johnson hivatalának közleményéből. Hozzáfűzte, hogy London a közleményben nem tért ki arra, hogy milyen típusú tüzérségi rendszerek szállításáról van szó.
Johnson azt is hangsúlyozta, hogy a világ támogatja Ukrajnát, és az ukrán fegyveres erők képesek visszafoglalni az orosz erők által megszállt területeket. Ukrajna és Nagy-Britannia vezetői megbeszélésének témái között szerepelt többek között az ukrán élelmiszerexport kérdése, az Oroszország által elfogott brit önkéntesek sorsa, az Ukrajna helyreállításáról tartott luganói konferencia eredményei és az Eurovízió 2023 megrendezése.
Ez utóbbival kapcsolatban a brit miniszterelnök azt mondta, hogy országa felkérte a Műsorszolgáltatók Európai Szövetségét (EBU), hogy „fontolja meg Ukrajna javaslatait erre az eseményre”. Korábban ukrán híradások beszámoltak arról, hogy noha ukrán együttes nyerte meg az idei versenyt, a háború elhúzódása miatt az EBU a második helyezettnek, azaz Nagy-Britanniának ajánlja fel a jövő évi dalfesztivál megrendezését.
Közben Vjacseszlav Csausz, az észak-ukrajnai Csernyihiv megye kormányzója a Telegram üzenetküldőn arról számolt be, hogy az orosz erők kedden is ágyúzták a régió közigazgatási határa mentén lévő területet. A hatóságok negyven robbanásról számoltak be, az orosz erők minden bizonnyal rakéta-sorozatvetőkkel és tüzérségi rendszerekkel vették tűz alá a téréséget. A kormányzó szavai szerint áldozatokról, károkról nem érkezett jelentés.
Vadim Ljax, a stratégiai jelentűségű, Donyeck megyei Szlovjanszk polgármestere a Facebookon úgyszintén arról adott hírt, hogy az orosz erők masszív tűz alá vették a várost. A helyi piac is az ágyúzás zónájába esett. Legalább egy halálesetet jelentettek – közölte a városvezető.
Valerij Zaluzsnij, az ukrán fegyveres erők főparancsnoka a Facebookon tájékoztatta az ország állampolgárait, hogy a hadköteleseknek az Ukrajnán belüli utazásokhoz is engedélyt kell kérniük a területileg illetékes toborzóközponttól. Zaluzsnij emellett felszólította az embereket, hogy akiket még nem vettek katonai nyilvántartásba, ezt haladéktalanul rendezzék. Biztosított egyúttal afelől, hogy a katonai vezetés a közeli napokban nem akarja korlátozni az állampolgárok szabad mozgását.
Az Ukrajinszka Pravda hírportál az ukrán különleges műveleti erők honlapján megjelent közleményre hivatkozva arról számolt be, hogy az oroszok által megszállt zaporizzsjai atomerőműben az ukrán alkalmazottak többsége nem hajlandó együttműködni a megszállókkal, ezért a Roszenergoatom orosz vállalat dolgozóit szállítják oda. Hírszerzési információk szerint ezen még az sem segített, hogy fizetésemelést és ingyenes nyaralást kínáltak fel nekik az Oroszország által 2014-ben önkényesen elcsatolt Krím félszigeten.
Közben az ukrán hírportál a RIA Novosztyi orosz hírportálra hivatkozva arról is beszámolt, hogy a Krím-félszigetet az Oroszország területével összekötő híd védelmét megerősítették az orosz erők, tartva az ukrán hadsereg esetleges támadásától.

Történik mindez annak ellenére, hogy a rendvédelmi erők nagymértékben támaszkodnak ezekre az adatokra, amikor trendkutatásokat végeznek vagy jövőbeli eljárásokat dolgoznak ki, és egyes szakértők arra figyelmeztetnek, hogy az efféle nyilvántartás veszélyeztetheti az információgyűjtést.
„Ha a rendőrség megállít valakit, aki 150 kilométer/órás sebességgel halad egy 80 kilométer/órás zónában, de ez a személy ragaszkodik hozzá, hogy a 150-et 75-ként azonosítsa, azt nevetségesnek találnánk” – mondja Lisa Townsend, Surrey rendőrségi biztosa.
„Mindez azzal a veszéllyel jár, hogy ahelyett, hogy az áldozat és a nyilvánosság érdekében végezzük a munkánkat, inkább a potenciális bűnöző érdekeit tartjuk szem előtt” – folytatta.
Bár a brit rendőrség eljárása szélsőségesnek tűnhet, mégis léteznek ennél is elképesztőbb gyakorlatok.
Kiszivárgott információkból nemrégiben derült ki, hogy a brit kormány állítólag több mint 100 különböző gendert ismer el, és azt is elfogadhatónak tartják, ha az emberek naponta változtatják meg a nemüket.
A:gender néven külön belső csoportot is létrehoztak azon közhivatalnokok számára, akik „transzneműnek, transzszexuálisnak, nembinárisnak, nemi szempontból változónak, genderqueernek, nemváltoztatónak, ellenkező nemű ruhát viselőnek, gendertelennek, harmadik neműnek vagy bigendernek, illetve interszexuálisnak” vallják magukat.

A tiltakozók színes füstgyertyákat gyújtva csendben tiltakoztak. Az AJP szóvivője szerint „békés tiltakozás, csendes tiltakozás volt, de több száz feldühödött földműves lerohant minket”. Az egyik felháborodott gazdálkodó slaggal híg trágyát szórt a tiltakozókra, vagy ahogy az AJP szóvivője fogalmazott, tehénkakit spriccelt ránk egy eszközhasználó földműves”.
A rendőrség beszámolója szerint igyekeztek biztosítani, hogy a tüntetés békés legyen.

Kigyulladt és lényegében porig égett egy 26 méter hosszú szuperjacht Torquay kikötőjében. A tűz a BBC beszámolója szerint szombat keletkezett a kikötőben lehorgonyzott jachton, amely később a tűz miatt elszabadult, és a kikötő mólójának ütközött.
A tűzoltók itt, a mólónál tudták biztosítani, de a tüzet már nem sikerült megfékezniük, a hajó roncsai elsüllyedtek.
A jachtból áradó füstre tekintettel a helyi hatóságok evakuálták a kikötő környékét, a közelben élőket pedig figyelmeztették, hogy tartsák zárva lakásaik ablakait. A jacht felépítménye sok műanyagot tartalmaz, az üzemanyagtartályában pedig 9 tonna dízelolaj lehetett.
Egy szemtanú beszámolója szerint a tűz keletkezése előtt hangos robaj hallatszott. „Puskalövés szerű durranásra figyeltem fel a kikötő felől, amit sűrű fekete füst követett” – mesélte Joseph Barlow, aki szerint ezután már látszott, hogy egy jachtból csapnak ki a lángok.

A kormányzó Konzervatív Párt már a bűnösség megállapítása után kizárta soraiból a képviselőt, aki nem sokkal később bejelentette, hogy lemond parlamenti mandátumáról.
Khan támadásának jelenleg 29 éves áldozata a bírósági tárgyaláson elmondta, hogy az incidens után sokáig öngyilkosságot fontolgatott, és a támadás súlyos hatással volt későbbi mentális fejlődésére, kapcsolatépítő képességére és munkájára is.
A volt képviselő fellebbezést nyújtott be az ítélet ellen.

Becker ellen az angol-walesi ügyészség húsz vádpontban kezdeményezett büntetőeljárást. A londoni Southwark kerület koronabíróságának esküdtszéke végül négy vádpontban állapította meg a 2012 óta Nagy-Britanniában élő Becker bűnösségét.
A bíróság pénteken az esküdtek végzése alapján két év és hat hónap börtönre ítélte az 54 esztendős, négygyermekes volt teniszsztárt.
Az adósságokban úszó Becker 2017-ben jelentett csődöt, miután hátralékba került egy 3 millió fontos (több mint 1,3 milliárd forintos) jelzáloghitel törlesztésével. A hitel a spanyolországi Mallorcán lévő luxusingatlanát terheli.
Beckert a londoni bíróság esküdtszéke kétheti tárgyalás után fedezetként felhasználható vagyoneszközök elvonásában, ingatlanvagyon bevallásának kétrendbeli elmulasztásában és adósságkötelezettségek eltitkolásában mondta ki bűnösnek.
Az első vádpont szerint Boris Becker – aki az elmúlt években szakkommentátorként vett részt nemzetközi teniszversenyek közvetítésében – 390 ezer font értékű tőkét helyezett át üzleti számlájáról kilenc másik betétbe, köztük két volt feleségének számláira.
Becker három évvel ezelőtt trófeáinak elárverezésével próbált kikeveredni a csődből. A díjak több mint 680 ezer fontért (305 millió forintért) keltek el a 2019 júliusában tartott online aukción.
A legtöbb pénzt, 150 250 fontot azért az ezüstkupáért adták, amelyet az egykori sztár Ivan Lendl legyőzésével nyert a 1989-es US Openen.
A hajdani világelső egy ideig arra hivatkozva igyekezett megakadályozni a csődeljárást, hogy diplomatastátusa van, mivel a Közép-afrikai Köztársaság elnöke sport-, kulturális és humanitárius „nagykövetté” nevezte ki az Európai Unióba. A Közép-afrikai Köztársaság külügyminisztere annak idején azonban bejelentette, hogy az útlevél, amelyet Becker mutogat, hamisítvány, egyike azoknak az útleveleknek, amelyeket 2014-ben kitöltetlenül loptak el az országban.
Az eljáró londoni bíró azzal indokolta a letöltendő szabadságvesztés kirovását, hogy Becker nem tanúsított megbánást, nem ismerte el bűnösségét, és nem vonta le a tanulságot abból sem, hogy 2002-ben Németországban már kiszabtak rá egy felfüggesztett börtönbüntetést adóelkerülésért. A bíró szerint az eljáró tanács mindezt komoly súlyosbító körülményként vette figyelembe.

Hét olajterminált vettek blokád alá tiltakozó környezetvédők százai Nagy-Britanniában pénteken, írja a Guardian. A lap szerint a Just Stop Oil fosszilistüzelő-ellenes mozgalom tagjai három olajfinomítónál is demonstráltak, londoni, birminghami és southamptoni egységeknél tankerhajókra másztak, és a komplexumokhoz vezető utakra ragasztották magukat.
A mozgalmárok azt követelik, hogy a brit kormány állítsa le minden új, fosszilis tüzelőanyagot használó projekt engedélyezését a szigetországban. Kijelentették, hogy addig folytatják akcióikat, míg a kormány eleget nem tesz a követeléseiknek.
A Just Stop Oil mozgalom minden bizonnyal legismertebb tagja Louis McKecknie, aki néhány héttel ezelőtt beszaladt a pályára az Everton–Newcastle-focimeccsen, és a nyakánál fogva a kapufához kötözte magát. Úgy fogalmazott, a kormánya tisztában van azzal, hogy az olaj- és gázkitermelés finanszírozása „öngyilkosság”, és hozzájárul a globális felmelegedés súlyosbodásához. Emellett arra is rámutatott, hogy az olajbiznisz „Putyin háborúját” is pénzeli, és saját kormányát „népirtónak” bélyegezte.
