A jelentés szerint Hennagyij Lahuta megyevezető szerint a Herszon határában vívott heves harcok után, az ukrán hadsereg kétségbeesett erőfeszítései ellenére elvesztette az irányítást a városba vezető utak fölött. „Az ellenség jelentős erőkkel és súlyos veszteségekkel legyőzte a város védőit” – konstatálta a kormányzó, arra kérve a helyi lakosságot, hogy őrizze meg a higgadtságát és ne essen pánikba.
