Az indiai gazdák az új agrártörvény ellen szerveztek demonstrációt. A kormány azt állítja, a mobilinternet tiltása fokozza a közbiztonságot.
Lekapcsolta a mobilinternetet az indiai kormány Delhi azon részén, ahol a gazdák tüntetni akartak az új agrártörvények ellen vasárnap – jelentette a BBC.
A gazdák azért nem fogadják el a törvényeket, mert azok szerintük lazább szabályokat hoznak, amelyek veszélyeztetik a megélhetésüket. (Az 1,3 milliárd lakosú Indiában a lakosság közel fele mezőgazdasággal foglalkozik.)
India más részein már korábban is tüntettek az új rendelkezés ellen, most pedig éhségsztrájkot hirdettek. Ezt igyekezett már csírájában elfojtani az indiai kormány azzal, hogy még a demonstráció előtt kikapcsolta a mobilinternetet. A résztvevők ezáltal nem használhatták a népszerű csevegőprogramokat, nem tudnak képeket megosztani a tüntetésről.
Az indiai kormány azt állítja, hogy az internet letiltása egy szükséges óvintézkedés, amellyel a közbiztonságot erősítik. A tüntetők mindezt nem így látják, a kormány szerintük ezzel próbálja megfélemlíteni őket és szimpatizánsaikat.
