Emberi maradványokkal a szájában talált rá egy járókelő egy négy méter hosszú aligátorra a Florida állambeli Largóban.
Jamarcus Bullard azt nyilatkozta a sajtónak, hogy péntek este arra lett figyelmes, hogy egy aligátort lát az út menti csatornába. Megdobta egy kővel, az állat megmozdult, akkor látta, hogy egy ember testének részét húzza a víz alá.
A hatóságok az állatot „humánusan” elpusztították, a holttestet pedig azonosították: a 41 éves Sabrina Peckham volt az. Az még nem biztos, hogy az állat okozta a nő halálát. Bírósági papírok szerint a hajléktalan Peckhamet korábban letartóztatták, amiért tiltott területen gázolt át a közeli mocsárnál.
A halálos aligátortámadások elég ritkák az Egyesült Államokban, évente átlagosan hatot jegyeznek fel a hatóságok. Csak Floridában volt már idén kettő, legutóbb egy kétéves gyereket ragadott el egy állat, egyébként nem messze Largótól.
Becslések szerint Floridában 1,3 millió aligátor él.

Az Egyesült Államokban, Texas államban egy négyméteres aligátor támadt rá a cserkészlányokra, akik egy természeti park víztározójában úsztak.
A KPRC-TV szerint az eset a Huntsville State Parkban történt. A helyi cserkészlányok csapata a Raven Lake-hez ment. A gyerekeknek fel kellett fedezniük a park természetét, megtanulniuk horgászni és az erdőben sátrakban éjszakázni.
Megjegyezték, hogy a lányok egy speciálisan elkerített, hálóval ellátott úszóterületen úsztak, amikor hirtelen egy nagy aligátor ugrott ki a vízből. Mint a videóból is látszik, a parton lévő felnőttek kiabálni kezdtek, és felszólították a gyerekeket, hogy sürgősen jöjjenek ki a vízből. A csoport vezetője, Nicole Glenn az aligátor elé rohant, hogy megvédje a lányokat.

Csatornába esett hétfőn egy ötven éves amerikai nő, pechére ott tanyázott egy több mint három méteres aligátor, aki rátámadt a nőre – írta az ABC News.
Az állat a nő karját kapta el, de az néhány sérüléssel megúszta a termetes aligátorral való találkozót. A kiáltására a környéken lévők figyeltek fel, ők hívták a 911-et, a tűzoltók pedig kiszabadították a nőt.
A sérültről annyit tudni, hogy 50 éves és hajléktalan, a partfalon pihent, amikor belecsúszott a csatornába. Kórházba szállították, az állapota stabil.
Az állatot befogták, az aligátor 3,3 méter hosszú volt, úgy tudni elaltatták, de ezt az információt nem erősítették meg. A cikk kitér arra is, hogy az 1,2 méternél nagyobb aligátorok veszélyesek főként az emberekere.

Aligátor ragadott el egy 71 éves férfit New Orleans közelében, az Ida hurrikán által elárasztott területen.
A 71 éves férfi saját háza közelében ment át éjfél körül a 60-70 centiméter mély vízen, amikor a támadás érte. Felesége szemtanúja volt a tragédiának. A férfi előbb a karját vesztette el a támadásban, ám ekkor még fel tudott kapaszkodni háza lépcsőjére.
Felesége ekkor csónakkal segítségért ment, mire azonban visszatért, a férfi nyomtalanul eltűnt. Az aligátortámadás tényét a helyi rendőrség is megerősítette.
A hatóságok korábban is felhívták a figyelmet arra, hogy az áradások miatt a lakott részekre is eljuthatnak az aligátorok, így akár a sekély vízen is kockázatos átgázolni.
Az Ida hurrikán miatt egymillió háztartás és üzlet maradt áram nélkül Louisianában és Mississippiben. Az energiaellátó rendszer helyreállítása heteket vehet igénybe.
A hurrikán vasárnapra érte el legerősebb, negyedik fokozatát. A kormányzó, John Bel Edwards szerint ez a legnagyobb erejű hurrikán, amely Louisianát az 1850-es évek óta sújtotta.
A hét elejére a hurrikán trópusi viharrá enyhült, ám az áradások még így is veszélyt jelentenek a térségre. Hétfő este a Mississippi és Louisiana közötti legforgalmasabb autópályán hatalmas kráter keletkezett, mert az eső miatti áradások alámosták.
A 15 méter széles, hét méter mély kráterbe hét autó zuhant bele, két ember meghalt, tizen megsérültek – írta a CNN.
