Lelőttek egy férfit, miután megpróbált bejutni egy általános iskolába az Egyesült Államokban. A kiérkező rendőröktől megpróbálta elvenni a fegyvert, ezért lelőtték. Az eset során egy tiszt könnyebb sérüléseket szenvedett.
Az alabamai rendőrség lelőtt egy potenciális behatolót, aki csütörtök reggel megpróbált bejutni egy alabamai általános iskolába – írta a New York Post a hatóságok közleményére hivatkozva.
Tony Reddick, Gadsden város iskoláinak a főfelügyelője közölte, hogy a 32 éves Robert White csütörtök reggel megpróbált bejutni a Walnut Park általános iskolába. Több külső ajtón is megpróbált behatolni, de mindegyik zárva volt.
Az iskola igazgatója észrevette a férfit és riasztotta az iskolaőröket, akik intézkedtek. A helyszínen parkolt egy rendőrautó, amit megpróbált feltörni. A férfi ellenállt a helyszínre érkező gadsdeni rendőrségnek, és megpróbálta elvenni az egyik segédtiszt fegyverét. A dulakodás során halálos lövést kapott.
Bár az iskolában már kitört a nyári szünet, egy nyári program miatt 34 gyerek tartózkodott az intézményben.
„A legfontosabb az volt, hogy akinek nincs engedélye bejönni az épületbe, az ne léphessen be, és a gyerekek biztonságban legyenek” – mondta Reddick, hozzátéve, hogy a legtöbb gyerek szerencsére észre sem vette a kinti káoszt.
Az incidens során egy tiszt könnyebb sérüléseket szenvedett, a diákok közül senki sem sérült meg. White-ot a helyszínen halottnak nyilvánították. A nyomozás folyamatban van, egyelőre nem tudni, hogy White mit keresett a környéken, és miért próbált meg bejutni az iskolába.
Az iskolákban országszerte feszült a helyzet a két héttel ezelőtt történt uvalde-i iskolai lövöldözés miatt, ahol 19 diákot és két tanárt gyilkolt meg egy 18 éves fegyveres.
