Moszkvában két hónapra előzetes letartóztatásba került egy ötvenegy éves amerikai férfi, akit a kokainhoz és az MDMA-hoz hasonló hatású mefedron árusításával vádolnak az orosz hatóságok, írja a Guardian.



Michael Travis Leake-ről az orosz Interfax hírügynökség jelentésében azt írják, hogy zenészként tevékenykedett Oroszországban, és fotói valóban megtalálhatók a Lovi Noch zenekar Facebook-oldalán, más hírek szerint 2010-óta Moszkvában élő férfi korábban az amerikai hadsereg ejtőernyőse volt. A hatóságok azzal is gyanúsítják Leake-t, hogy fiatalokból álló kábítószerterjesztő-hálózatot szervezett.



Az AP hírügynökség megkereste az Egyesült Államok külügyminisztériumát, ahol szűkszavúan azt válaszolták az ügyben feltett kérdésekre, hogy tudnak Leake letartóztatásának híréről, és ilyen esetekben a lehető legrövidebb időn belül konzuli segítséget nyújtanak az érintettnek, ahogy ezt ezúttal is tették.



A közelmúlt emlékezetes túszdiplomáciai esete volt, amikor tavaly februárban, az orosz–ukrán háború kitörését követően Oroszországban letartóztatták Brittney Griner kosárlabázót, miután a Seremetyjevói repülőtéren hasisolajat tartalmazó fiolákat találtak a poggyászában. Grinert később kilenc év börtönbüntetésre ítélték a rendkívül szigorú orosz drogtörvények alapján, ám decemberben szabadon engedték egy Amerikában bebörtönzött, és 2012-ben huszonöt évre elítélt orosz fegyverkereskedő, Viktor But szabadon bocsátásáért cserébe.
