Egy túravezető meghalt és több turista megsérült, miután egy föld alatti lift meghibásodott egy coloradói aranybányában. A csütörtöki incidens során a hatóságok közel két tucat embert mentettek ki.
Meghalt egy idegenvezető egy coloradói aranybányában, miután egy lift 150 méteres mélységben meghibásodott és több órára csapdába ejtett egy tucatnyi turistát – közölték a hatóságok. A baleset a Cripple Creek-i Mollie Kathleen aranybányában történt. A halálos áldozatot a 46 éves Patrick Weierként azonosították, aki a bánya egyik idegenvezetője volt. Weier egy 7 éves gyereket hagyott hátra.
Az incidens csütörtök (helyi idő szerint) dél körül történt, körülbelül 150 méter mélyen a föld alatt – mondta Jason Mikesell, seriff.
A liftből 11 embert mentettek ki, közülük 4-en megsérültek. További 12 ember, valamint egy másik idegenvezető – akik már túráztak – körülbelül hat órán át csapdában voltak 300 méteres mélységben. A baleset okát még vizsgálják, Mikesell elmondta:
Tudjuk, hogy 150 méteres mélységben történt a probléma. Tudjuk, hogy valami történt az ajtókkal, és valami elromlott.
A Bányabiztonsági Hivatal is vizsgálja az incidenst. A haláleset egy mechanikai problémával függ össze, nem pedig egészségügyi probléma okozta – mondta Mikesell. A helyi UCHealth kórház közölte, hogy hét beteget fogadtak az incidens miatt, akiket elláttak és azóta már haza is engedtek a kórházból.
A 300 méter mélyen rekedt 12 turista és az idegenvezető kimentéséhez a mérnököknek meg kellett javítaniuk a 150 méteres mélységben elakadt liftet és ellenőrizni kellett a kábeleket. Ezután egy próbautat tettek a felvonóval.
Mikesell szerint a bánya tulajdonosa a felügyelőkkel együtt szállt be a liftbe, hogy megbizonyosodjon arról, hogy a felvonó biztonságosan működik, míg a tulajdonos fia a liftet kezelte.
Az ő segítségük nélkül talán nem tudtuk volna kihozni onnan az embereket – mondta Mikesell, aki hősöknek nevezve őket. A venezuelai Bulla Loca illegális aranybánya kedden beomlott. A katasztrófában legalább 15-en meghaltak és sokan megsérültek. Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy hány túlélő rekedt a föld alatt, de a becslések szerint a bányában kétszázan dolgoztak. A mentést nehezíti, hogy a Bulla Locát csak vízi úton lehet megközelíteni.
Legkevesebb tizenöten meghaltak és sokan megsérültek egy illegálisan működtetett venezuelai külszíni aranybányában történt bányaomlás következtében – közölte szerdán Nicolás Maduro államfő a venezuelai televízióban. Ángel Marcano, Bolívar állam kormányzója elmondta, hogy a helyszínen folyamatban van a mentés.
Helyi illetékesek tájékoztatása szerint a beomlott bányában ismeretlen számú ember lehet még.
A Bolívar állambeli Angostura vezetője, Yorgi Arciniega több tucatnyira tette a halottak számát, de ezt az adatot Maduro televíziós beszédében cáfolta.
A bányaszerencsétlenség kedden történt Angostura körzetében, amikor a Bulla Loca néven ismert bánya egyik fala leomlott. Az aranybányát csak vízi úton lehet megközelíteni.
A bánya közelében lévő La Paraguában gyülekező hozzátartozók arra kérték a kormányt, hogy küldjön helikoptereket a mentés meggyorsítására, a halottak és a sérültek elszállítására.
A bányaomlás egyik túlélője, a 71 éves Carlos Marcano La Paraguában szerdán arról számolt be, hogy a bányában katasztrofális helyzet alakult ki. Mint mondta, sokan lelték halálukat az omlásban, és őket még nem sikerült kihozni.
A sérülteket az állam székhelyére, Ciudad Bolívarba szállították, amely mintegy négyórányira fekszik a Bulla Loca bányától, ahol a kormány becslései szerint mintegy kétszáz ember dolgozott.
Caracasból is a térségbe utazott egy mentőcsapat, hogy segítséget nyújtson a túlélők felkutatásában és a halottak kiemelésben.
Venezuelában 2016-ban jelöltek ki az ország középső részén egy hatalmas bányafejlesztési övezetet új bevételek megteremtésére. Ismeretlen tolvajok mintegy 1 millió dollár értékű aranyat loptak el egy bányászati projekt területéről Argentína déli térségében.
A tolvajok a kanadai Vancouver városában bejegyzett Patagonia Gold nevű vállalathoz törtek be, a cég Cap-Oeste nevű kitermelési helyszínén, Santa Cruz tartományban, Argentínában. Az incidens április 17-én történt, helyi idő szerint a kora reggeli órákban.
A vállalat által kiadott közleményben az áll, hogy a rablók 500 unciányi arannyal távoztak a helyszínről. Ez a mennyiség a cég összesen egyhavi termelésének felel meg a Lomada és a Cap-Oeste kitermelési területeken.
A zsákmány körülbelül 1 millió dollárt ér. Az aranyat ezen a napon unciánként 1995 dollárért kereskedték.
A vállalat az eset kivizsgálásának idejére felfüggesztette a kitermelést, és új, szigorúbb biztonsági intézkedések bevezetését helyezte kilátásba – számol be róla a Mining.com.

Felkelők rohamoztak meg vasárnap egy kínai üzemeltetésű aranybányát a Közép-afrikai Köztársaságban, kilenc kínai állampolgár vesztette életét és ketten megsebesültek – közölték a helyi hatóságok.
A támadás mindössze napokkal azt követően követték el, hogy fegyveresek három kínai állampolgárt hurcoltak el az ország Kamerunnal közös határa közelében. A történtek nyomán Faustin Archange Touadéra elnök Kínába utazott a befektetők megnyugtatására.
A néhány napja megnyitott Chimbolo aranybányát a kora reggeli órákban érte támadás. A fegyveresek gyorsan legyűrték az őrszemélyzetet és tüzet nyitottak – ismertette Abel Matipata, a közeli Bambari település polgármestere.
„A kormánynak nehezére esik bizonyítani, hogy képes megvédeni a közép-afrikai lakosokat és az országban élő külföldieket” – mondta Ange Morel Gbatangue, Bambari egyik lakosa.
Bár eddig egyetlen szervezet sem jelentkezett elkövetőként, sokan a Hazafiak Szövetsége a Változásért nevű, térségben működő lázadószervezetet hibáztatják, amely Francois Bozizé elnökkel áll szövetségben.
A Közép-afrikai Köztársaságban 2012 végén az ország északkeleti, muszlim többségű térségéből származó Séléka milíciaszövetség tagjai elfoglalták Banguit, és megbuktatták a keresztény Francois Bozizé elnököt, polgárháborút robbantva ki az országban.
A Séléka ellen anti-Balaka néven keresztény milíciaszövetség alakult, amely azonban a Sélékához hasonlóan később számtalan fegyveres csoportosulásra töredezett.
A 2019-ben aláírt, történelmi jelentőségű békemegállapodás ellenére az aranyban és gyémántban gazdag ország területének nagy részét továbbra is milíciák uralják, hátráltatva az ásványkincsek kitermelését. 2020-ban két kínai vesztette életét, amikor helyi lakosok fellázadtak egy kínai üzemeltetésű bánya ellen Sosso Nakombóban. 2018-ban pedig három kínait öltek meg feldühödött lakosok, amiért egy helyi vezető életét vesztette egy hajóbalesetben, amikor kínai vájárokat kísért egy bányához. A biztonsági kihívások ellenére az országban több kínai vállalat is működik.

A rendőrség Johannesburgtól délnyugatra egy elhagyatott aranybányában húsz, feltételezhetően illegális bányász holttestére bukkant.
A rendőrség a testeket fehér műanyag zacskókba csomagolva találta meg, a testeken súlyos égési sérülések nyomai látszódtak. A ‘zama zamas’, vagyis azok az illegális bányászok, akik szerencsét próbálnak Zuluban, több ezren működnek az országban a dél-afrikai Emberi Jogi Bizottság szerint.
A legtöbben Johannesburgban, Dél-Afrika kereskedelmi központjában.
Az első öt holttestet hétfőn, a többit kedden fedezték fel – írja a The Guardian.
Az első csoportot egy használaton kívüli bányaaknában találták meg, tizennégy rothadó testet pedig egy vasútvonal közelében.
A legtöbb illegális bányászatot bűnszövetkezetek működtetik, mely évente 753 millió fontjába került Dél-Afrikának. A tevékenység nagyon veszélyes, sérülés vagy halál is lehet a vége a robbanások, a mérgező füst belégzése, bányaomlások vagy bandaháborúk miatt.

A Malival határos Siguiri régióban lévő aranybánya szombaton összeomlott, az ott dolgozó bányászok azonnal életüket vesztették – közölte a terület tanácsosa.
A helyi hatóságok közleménye szerint legalább 15 ember halt meg egy földcsuszamlásban egy aranybányában Guinea északkeleti régiójában, Siguiriben, a mentők pedig vasárnap tovább folytatták a romok között a túlélők keresését.
“A Tatakourou falu közelében lévő kézműves bánya szombaton omlott össze, az ott dolgozó bányászok pedig sajnos azonnal meghaltak”– közölte Sekou Biniou Simagan helyi tanácsos.
A 15 kisipari bányász holttestét – akik mind 14 és 40 év közötti férfiak voltak – szombat estére találták meg, a temetési szertartások elvégzése után pedig tömegsírba temették őket.
Sinaman Traore, a bánya egyik aranyásója elmondta, hogy látta, amint önkéntesek mentették ki két kollégáját a romok alól.

A Jentaj város közigazgatási területén található aranybányában január 10-én történt a robbanás, amelynek következtében 22 bányász rekedt a föld alatt. A helyszínen dolgozó mentőcsapatok több csatornát fúrtak a mélybe, melyeken keresztül először egy héttel a balesetet követően sikerült kapcsolatot létesíteni a lent rekedt bányászok egy csoportjával, nekik élelmet, ruhákat és egyéb felszereléseket juttattak le.
Őket, illetve a mentési munkák során véletlenül előkerült további egy bányászt hozták fel vasárnap, kínai sajtójelentések szerint egy embert súlyos állapotban, további kettőt sérülésekkel szállítottak kórházba.
A bányát tulajdonló Shandong Wucailong befektetési vállalat ellen a tartomány illetékes hatóságai vizsgálatot indítottak az ügyben, a céget pedig nyilvános bírálat érte amiatt, hogy mintegy 30 órás késéssel jelentették a balesetet.
A kínai törvények szerint az ilyen jellegű balesetekről egy órán belül kell értesíteni a helyi kormányzatot. A bánya működtetéséért felelős tisztségviselőket előállították, a robbanás okát még vizsgálják.
