Gorogyilovot különösen nagy értékű sikkasztással vádolják, 10 éves börtönbüntetést kaphat, ha bűnösnek találják. Tárgyalása zárt ajtók mögött, a nyilvánosság mellőzésével zajlik majd.
A 83-as önálló deszantos gárda dandár az ukrajnai hadszíntér aktív résztvevője: harcoltak Bahmutnál és legutóbb Vovcsanszknál is, ahol súlyos veszteségeket szenvedtek és ki kellett őket vonni a harctérről. A 83-asok az alakulat két helyettes parancsnokát is elvesztették már a háború során.
Nem kizárt, hogy Gorogyilov elmozdításának hátterében az áll, hogy az „elit” deszantos dandár a vártnál lényegesen gyengébben teljesít az ukrajnai hadszíntéren.
