Az ausztrál rendőrség bejelentése szerint Hongkongban lefoglaltak egy 1 milliárd dollár értékű metamfetamint, amit Ausztráliába készültek éppen elhajózni. Az akcióban az ausztrál és a hongkongi hatóságok közösen vettek részt. Az 1,8 tonnányi folyékony methfogás rekordnak számít az országban, írja a Reuters.
A szállítmányról a hatóságok szerint az ausztrál rendőröknek Mexikóban sikerült információkat megszerezniük. Október 23-án csaptak le a szállítmányra, a folyékony metamfetamint kókuszvizes kartonok közé rejtve tárolták.
A kábítószert Ausztrália legnépesebb államába, Új-Dél-Walesbe tervezték áthajózni, ahol az utcai értéke egymilliárd dollár lett volna, és a mennyiség 18 millió adagnyi értékesítésre lett volna elegendő.
A rendőrök most nemzetközi együttműködés során a kereskedő bűnszervezetet igyekeznek felfedni.
