Az Independent jelentése szerint a 19 éves Mackenzie Shirilla-t többrendbeli gyilkosságban találták bűnösnek: az ohiói tinédzsert életfogytiglani börtönbüntetésre ítélték, amiért szándékosan 160 kilométer/órás sebességgel száguldott közúton úgy, hogy mellette ült barátja, mögötte pedig egy ismerőse.
Az ütközés olyan erejű volt, hogy a 20 éves Dominic Russo és a 19 éves Davion Flanagan is életét vesztette. Shirilla, aki a baleset idején 17 éves volt, életfogytiglani börtönbüntetésre számíthat, és legkevesebb 15 évet kell rács mögött töltenie, mielőtt feltételes szabadlábra helyezésért folyamodhatna.
Nancy Margaret Russo, a Cuyahoga megyei Common Pleas Court bírája, aki esküdtszék nélkül tartotta a tárgyalást, egyértelműen kijelentette:

Az autóból megszerzett adatok és a biztonsági kamerák felvételei is alátámasztották, hogy a lány először jobbra, majd balra rántotta a kormányt, mielőtt a jármű letért az útról és az üzlethelyiségbe csapódott. A roncsot egy járókelő fedezte fel mintegy 45 perccel az ütközés után.
Amikor a rendőrség kiérkezett, Russót és Flanagant holtan találták, Shrilla pedig a vezetőülésbe szorulva, a gázpedálra tapadva, egy bolyhos Prada papucsban volt. A bíróságon elhangzott, az incidens utolsó másodpercei bizonyították azt, hogy a lány szándékosan cselekedett.

Az eset Berlin nyugati részének központjában történt, egy bevásárlónegyedben, a Vilmos császár emléktemplom (Gedächtniskirche) és a Ku’damm közelében.
A beszámolók szerint a jármű felhajtott a járdára, elgázolt több embert, aztán visszatért az úttestre, majd nagyjából 100 méter után ismét a járdára hajtott és végül egy parfüméria kirakatát áttörve állt meg.
A jármű egy ezüstszínű Renault kisautó.
A német főváros rendőrségének első közleménye szerint a járművet vezető férfit őrizetbe vették.
Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy baleset történt, vagy szándékos gázolás – írták.
A rendőrség és a mentőszolgálat nagy erőkkel vonult a helyszínre, mentőhelikoptert is bevetettek. A környéket lezárták.
Menczer Tamás, a Külgazdasági és Külügyminisztérium államtitkára az MTI-t arról tájékoztatta, hogy a nagykövetség munkatársai már kapcsolatban vannak a rendőrséggel, egyelőre nincs információjuk arról, hogy lenne magyar érintettje a gázolásnak.
Az eset a Breitscheid tér közvetlen közelében történt, ahol 2016-ban a karácsonyi vásár idején egy tunéziai szélsőséges iszlamista a tömegbe hajtott egy lopott kamionnal, halálra gázolva 11 embert.

A merénylő egy 35 éves férfi volt, akit a rendőrök üldözőbe vettek és két kilométerrel arrébb megsebesítve sikerült elfogni. A támadót a golyó okozta sérülés miatt súlyos, de nem életveszélyes sérüléssel szállították kórházba.
Egyelőre nem derült ki, hogy miért követte el a támadást a Phoenixtől 250 kilométerre lévő Show Low-ban.
Az 55 év felettiekkel megszervezett rendezvény részt vevői egy 93 kilométeres távot tekertek volna le, egy keresztény általános iskolának pénzt gyűjtve.

Az örmény hatóságok büntetőeljárást indítottak Szimon Martiroszjan olimpiai ezüstérmes, világ- és Európa-bajnok súlyemelő ellen, aki Mercedesével halálra gázolt egy gyalogost Jerevánban.
Martiroszjan, aki a nyári tokiói játékok egyik aranyérem-várományosa, a hétvégén ütötte el a 27 éves férfit, aki – az insidethegames.biz beszámolója szerint – nem kijelölt gyalogátkelőhelyen vágott keresztül az úton, amikor a végzetes baleset bekövetkezett. A sportoló mentőt hívott és segített kórházba szállítani az eszméletlen áldozatot, akinek az életét azonban már nem tudták megmenteni. A rendőri jelentést idézve a portál azt írta, hogy nem találtak sem alkoholt, sem drogot Martiroszjan vérében.
A legnépszerűbb örmény élversenyzők közé tartozó 24 esztendős súlyemelő a 2016-os riói olimpián a 105 kilósok kategóriájában szerzett ezüstérmet, emellett kétszeres világ- és kétszeres Európa-bajnok, s ő tartja a 109 kilogrammos súlycsoport összetett világcsúcsát.

Tüntetők közé hajtott szombaton az Egyesült Államok északnyugati nagyvárosában, Seattle-ben egy férfi autójával, életveszélyes és súlyos sérüléseket okozva két nőnek – adta hírül a helyi rendőrség.
A 27 éves férfi – aki seattle-i lakos – tette után elhajtott, ám egy tüntető kocsiba pattant, és másfél kilométeres üldözés után a menekülő elé vágva megállította, a rendőrség pedig őrizetbe vette az illetőt. Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy mi indította tüntetők elgázolására. A rendőrség az elmebetegséget kizárta.
A két nő közül az egyik 24 éves, állapota válságos. A másik 32 esztendős, és súlyos sérülései miatt ő is intenzív osztályon van.
A gázoló olyan útszakaszon hajtott a tüntetők közé, amelyet a rendőrség egy órával korábban lezárt a gépkocsiforgalom elől.
