Egyelőre sok a kérdés az ügyben, nem tudni, hogy támadás történhetett, vagy egy félresikerült szilveszteri tűzijátékozásról van szó.
A Bild értesülései szerint robbanás történt este Berlin-Wittenauban, a 12-es rendőrőrs területén. Az incidens során két rendőr megsérült: egy férfi súlyos arc- és szemsérüléseket, míg egy rendőrnő robbanás okozta traumát szenvedett. A berlini rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint egyikük állapota sem életveszélyes.
A detonáció körülbelül 20:20-kor történt, amikor a rendőrök a szokásos biztonsági járőrözést végezték a rendőrőrs kerítése mentén. Az eset kivizsgálásába a Készenléti Rendőrség is bekapcsolódott, a helyszínen jelenleg is tart a nyomozás.
Egyelőre nem világos, hogy mi okozta a robbanást, ahogy az sem, hogy szándékos támadásról van-e szó. Egy rendőrségi szóvivő rámutatott, jelenleg nem lehet egyértelműen megállapítani, hogy támadás történt-e.
Nincs hivatalos információ arról sem, hogy az esetnek köze lenne a szilveszteri tűzijátékokhoz. Az ügyben a törvényszéki intézet is vizsgálódik, azonban jelenleg sem hajtóvadászat, sem gyanúsítottak keresése nincs folyamatban.
Stephan Weh, a berlini rendőrszakszervezet vezetője megdöbbenését fejezte ki az eset kapcsán, és sürgette a rendőrségi létesítmények védelmének megerősítését. Hozzátette, a biztonsági kamerarendszer kiterjesztése a rendőrőrsök környékén fontos lépés lenne az ehhez hasonló esetek megelőzésére.
