Január 19-én tartottak bikaviadalt Mexikó fővárosában, Mexikóvárosban. Először egy spanyol matador, a 32 éves Borja Jimenez küzdött meg egy hatalmas bikával. Eleinte úgy tűnt, hogy az irányítása alatt tartja az állatot, azonban az egyszer csak a nézők felé kezdett futni, majd kis híján átugrotta a kerítést, elérve az embereket.
A közel ülő nézők megijedtek, volt, aki felpattant a helyéről és gyorsan menekülni kezdett.
A bika végül nem jutott fel a nézőtérre, leesett a kerítésről. A viadal később tovább folytatódott – írja az Origo a People-re hivatkozva.

A francia nemzetgyűlés jövő csütörtökön vitázik a bikaviadalok betiltásáról. A képviselők is megosztottak a kérdésben, akárcsak a lakosság, de most az tűnik valószínűbbnek, hogy marad az állatvédők által gyűlölt tradíció.
A bikaviadalok ellenzői és támogatói is tüntettek Franciaország több városában, miután a törvényhozás jövő héten tárgyalja a bikaviadalok betiltásáról szóló törvényjavaslatot. Ez lesz az első alkalom, hogy a nemzetgyűlés egy tradíció gyakorlatának eltörléséről dönthet.
A bikaviadalok ellenzői felhívták a figyelmet, hogy a francia törvények akár öt év börtönbüntetéssel sújthatják az állatkínzást.

Legalább négy ember meghalt és több százan megsérültek, miután egy kolumbiai bikaviadalon összeomlott egy lelátó.
Az eset az ország középső régiójában található El Espinal településen történt helyi idő szerint vasárnap délután 1 óra körül egy helyi fesztiválon. A bikaviadal összeomlott lelátója alatt holtan találtak között két nő, egy férfit és egy 18 hónapos csecsemő volt.
Felvételek készültek arról, hogy a stadionban összeomlott egy nézőkkel teli, fából készült lelátó.
Juan Carlos Tamayo polgármester szerint 800 néző ült az összeomlott részeken. A lelátó előrebukott a ringbe, ahol az emberek a Szent Péter és Pál ünnepéhez kötődő bikafuttatáson vettek részt – írja a Sky News.
Luis Fernando Velez őrnagy, a tartományi polgári védelem igazgatója szerint senki sem maradt a roncsok között. Az El Espinal-i kórház túlterhelt, ezért a sebesülteket másik városokba szállították, és hozzátette, hogy nem tudja, miből készült az állvány, de úgy tűnik, hogy fadeszkákból.
A megválasztott elnök, Gustavo Petro sürgette a tisztviselőket, hogy tiltsák be az ilyen rendezvényeket. A kulturális fesztivált minden évben június 29-én tartják, és az esemény a Jézus Krisztus apostolai és keresztény vértanúk, Szent Péter és Pál tiszteletére rendezett ünnepnap.
