Ötvenhárom embert vett őrizetbe a londoni rendőrség a Wembley Stadionban rendezett szombat esti labdarúgó Bajnokok Ligája-döntő idején elkövetett rendbontások miatt.
A Scotland Yard vasárnap hajnali tájékoztatása szerint öt ember a Real Madrid–Borussia Dortmund-mérkőzés elején berohant a pályára, a többiek pedig a stadion környékén akartak áthatolni a biztonsági kordonokon és jegy nélkül próbáltak bejutni a meccsre, amely a madridi együttes 2–0 arányú győzelmével végződött.
A londoni rendőrség bizonyos abban, hogy „a szabálytalan bejutási kísérletek túlnyomó többsége sikertelen volt”.
A kiemelkedő sporteseményeken gyakran próbálnak áthatolni a kerítéseken vagy egyéb módon bejutni a rendezvény helyszínére olyanok, akiknek nincs belépőjegyük – áll a Scotland Yard közleményében.
A hatóság szerint az online felületeken megjelent videófelvételek – amelyek azt mutatják, hogy emberek csoportosan rohannak neki bejáratoknak – „nem feltétlenül ábrázolnak sikeres bejutási kísérleteket”, mivel az első beléptetőpontok után rendszerint további többrétegű biztonsági szűrés következik.
A Scotland Yard már a BL-döntő előtt kétezer rendőrt vezényelt a brit főváros utcáira, különösen annak a tüntetésnek a helyszínére, amelyet az English Defence League (Angol Védelmi Liga) nevű szélsőséges jobboldali szerveződés alapítója, Tommy Robinson hívott össze London központjába.
A demonstráción több ezren vettek részt, a Scotland Yard szerint köztük sokan olyanok is, akiknek futballhuliganizmus miatt már volt dolguk a rendőrséggel.
