A Black Lives Matter mozgalom aktivistája, Sasha Johnson súlyos sérülésekkel került kórházba, miután a fején érte lövés London déli részén vasárnap hajnalban.
Ezt a BLM-mel együttműködő brit szervezet, a Taking the Initiative Party (TTIP) jelentette be. Johnson aktív tagja volt a TTIP-nek, Nagy-Britannia első feketék vezette politikai pártjának. A fiatal nő az Oxford Brookes Egyetemen végzett, a George Floyd meggyilkolása után zajló BLM tüntetések egyik szervezőjeként vált ismertté, ekkor kezdett el aktívan politizálni.
A Taking the Initiative Party saját meghatározása szerint olyan politikai szervezet, amelyet üzleti hátterű, de „politikai szempontból hajléktalan” alapítók hoztak létre. A párt az ismertetés szerint úgy tartja, hogy az üzleti szektor pozitív közösségi szerepet tölt be a vállalkozói tevékenység, a foglalkoztatás és a felelősségteremtés révén.
Instagram-oldalán a párt megerősítette, hogy a támadás áldozata Sasha Johnson. A szervezet beszámolója szerint Johnsont – akinek két gyermeke van – a fején érte a lövés, és jelenleg válságos állapotban, intenzív osztályon kezelik. A 27 éves aktivista a BLM-nek és a Taking the Initiative pártnak egyaránt tagja, tevőlegesen küzd a fekete közösségeket érő igazságtalanságok ellen, és tevékenységéért számos halálos fenyegetést kapott – áll a párt beszámolójában.
A Scotland Yard hétfői ismertetése szerint ugyanakkor – jóllehet a vizsgálat még korai szakaszában jár – nincs semmilyen arra utaló jel, hogy a sértett célzott támadás célpontja lett volna, és nincsenek olyan adatok sem, hogy a fiatal nő az incidens előtt bármilyen hitelt érdemlő fenyegetést kapott.
A londoni rendőrség szerint a támadás egy olyan épület közelében történt, amelyben éppen egy partit rendeztek, és a környéken nagyon sokan tartózkodtak. A felhívásban a Scotland Yard kéri a rendezvény résztvevőit, hogy ha bármilyen információ birtokában vannak az incidensről, vegyék fel a kapcsolatot a rendőrséggel.

Minden évben ünnepélyes keretek között emlékeznek meg a rendőrök szolgálat teljesítése közben elhunyt bajtársaikra az egyesült államokbeli Wisconsinban. Az idei alkalom rendhagyóra sikerült: a békés megemlékezést BLM-tüntetők zavarták meg, akik skandálással, pfújolással, kiabálással, megafonok használatával próbálták meg megakadályozni a beszédek elhangzását.
A megemlékezés becsületlistáján ez alkalommal hat hős rendőr neve szerepelt.
A hősi emlékművön szereplő 285 rendőrünknek azt tudjuk ígérni, hogy nem felejtjük el sem őket, sem azt, hogy feláldozták életüket a közért – mondta el beszédében Jo Ann Mignon rendőrfőnök. Beszédét a tüntetők többször félbeszakították, és az egyperces tiszteletadást sem tartották tiszteletben. A megemlékezésen a rendőrség tisztjei mellett politikusok is részt vettek, többek között Wisconsin állam kormányzója is, de később az esettel kapcsolatban egyik hivatalos személy sem fejezte ki tiltakozását.

Szemtanúk egyébként arról számoltak be, hogy a magukat BLM-aktivistáknak hívó bűnözők (forradalmi hevületükben) kiraboltak egy utcai gofri-árust is. A pénzt ellopták, a gofrikat megették.
