Nagy kiterjedésű bozóttűz lángol napok óta a bolgár–görög határon a nehezen megközelíthető Rodope hegység térségében.
Szergej Szaimov, a bolgár tűzoltóság vezetője vasárnap közölte a közszolgálati rádióban, hogy a délről érkező erős szél miatt a lángok a hétvégén erősebben átcsaptak bolgár területre.
Bár az égő terület a bolgár oldalon önmagában nem nagy, a tűz 20 kilométer hosszú sávban lángol. Szaimov szerint a bolgár tűzoltóság munkáját a rossz időjárási körülmények hátráltatják, ami miatt helikoptereket nem tudnak bevetni.
Csak péntekig több mint 850 hektár erdő és bozótos vált a lángok martalékává a görög oldalon. A meteorológusok szerint a térségben az évszakhoz képest hetek óta szokatlanul meleg van, és nagy a szárazság – számolt be az MTI.
