A francia hatóságok letartóztattak egy férfit, aki feltehetően az olimpiai láng útjának bordeaux-i állomásán rendezett ceremónia idején tervezett támadást elkövetni – közölte Gérald Darmanin francia belügyminiszter csütörtökön.
A helyi ügyészek hivatalának jelentése szerint azonban a férfi még nem választott helyszínt a támadáshoz, és nem is említette a ceremóniát. A húszas éveiben járó férfit a nyomozók kedden vették őrizetbe, és lefoglaltak egy gumilövedékes fegyvert.
Az ügyészek szerint a gyanúsított érdeklődést mutatott az erőszakos és nőgyűlölő önkéntes cölibátust vállaló közösség iránt, rokonai szerint pedig mentális problémákkal küzdött.
A nyomozók azután figyeltek fel a férfira, hogy az interneten tett közzé bejegyzést egy pontosan tíz évvel ezelőtti kaliforniai gyilkosságról, amelyben egy tanuló hat embert ölt meg nőgyűlöletből. Az ügyészség előzetes nyomozás megkezdését javasolta bűncselekmények dicsőítése és bűnrészesség vádja miatt.
Az olimpiai láng május elején érkezett meg Marseille-be, ahonnan megkezdte a Franciaországon átívelő útját a július 26-án induló 2024-es párizsi ötkarikás játékok kezdete előtt.

Csütörtökön több mint egymillió ember vonult utcára az országban, Párizsban 119 ezren tüntettek a nyugdíjreform miatt a francia belügyminisztérium közlése szerint. A rendőrség a fővárosban könnygázt is bevetett, és országszerte 80 demonstrálót tartóztattak le.
Mint ismert, Emmanuel Macron nemrég emelte meg 62-ről 64-re a nyugdíjkorhatárt. A lépése akkora ellenállást váltott ki, hogy csak rendeletileg tudta bevezetni. Azóta is forrong Franciaország. A szakszervezetek további, átfogó tiltakozásokra szólították fel a lakosságot jövő keddre. Ezen a napon látogat az országba III. Károly brit király – éppen Bordeauxban lenne jelenése.
