A fiatal pásztor halála ismét ráirányította a figyelmet arra, hogy a háború sebei három évtized múltán sem gyógyultak be teljesen, és a mindennapi életet még mindig halálos veszélyek árnyékolják be.
A fiú édesanyja a helyi sajtónak nyilatkozva könnyeivel küszködve idézte fel fia mindennapjait: „Sokat dolgozott, szorgalmas volt. Küzdöttünk a betevő falatért” – mondta, majd hozzátette, hogy fia kecskékre vigyázott, és amikor az állatok betévedtek az elaknásított területre, ő utánuk ment, hogy visszaterelje őket. Ez a döntés azonban végzetesnek bizonyult.
A család Hodzici faluban élt, ahonnan a háború idején a bosnyák lakosságot elűzték, ám a békeévekben sokan – köztük ők is – úgy döntöttek, hogy visszatérnek szülőfalujukba. A település azonban nem mentes a veszélyektől: korábban több helyi lakos is életét vesztette vagy súlyosan megsérült aknarobbanás következtében.
Bosznia-Hercegovina ma is a világ egyik leginkább aknaveszélyes országának számít. Az aknamentesítési központ legfrissebb adatai szerint valamivel több mint 800 négyzetkilométernyi területen körülbelül 170 ezer, máig rejtve maradt vagy elfeledett akna található. Ezek közvetlen közelében még mindig mintegy 132 ezer ember él. A legnagyobb kiterjedésű aknamező az ország két entitása, a boszniai Szerb Köztársaság és a Bosznia-hercegovinai Föderáció határán húzódik.
A háború befejezése óta 1781 ember vált aknarobbanás áldozatává Boszniában, közülük 624-en életüket vesztették. A veszély nemcsak a civileket fenyegeti: az aknamentesítés során 53 tűzszerész is meghalt, miközben a területek megtisztításán dolgozott.

A helyi rendőrség beszámolója szerint a támadó egy férfitól néhány nappal ezelőtt birkát lopott, hétfőn pedig visszatért, hogy ismét lopjon, majd rátámadt a férfira. A helyi gazda értesítette a rendőrséget, a férfi pedig egy közeli elhagyatott házba menekült. Tűzpárbaj alakult ki a rendőrök és a migráns között, a bevándorló automata lőfegyverből lőtt rá a rendőrökre, majd két kézigránátot is feléjük hajított. A rendőrök nem sérültek meg, és néhány órával később, nem sokkal éjfél előtt lelőtték a támadót.

Az EUFOR közleménye szerint két békefenntartó katona a szabadidejében Vlašić térségébe ment hegyet mászni, amikor a baleset történt – számolt be a Szabad Magyar Szó az N1 nyomán.
A helyszínre mentőhelikoptert küldtek.
– Mentőhelikopter ment a nehezen megközelíthető terepre, de a kiérkező orvos már csak a halál beálltát tudta megállapítani – olvasható az EUFOR közleményében.
A másik katona sérülések nélkül megúszta a balesetet, őt biztonságos helyre menekítették. Az EUFOR részvétét fejezte ki az elhunyt katona hozzátartozóinak.

Félbeszakadt a Velez Mostar–Borac Banja Luka bosnyák bajnoki a 81. percben, amikor a címvédő vendégcsapat megszerezte a második gólját. A hazai szurkolók ezt nehezen viselték, mert úgy érezték, hogy a játékvezető korábban nem adott meg csapatuknak egy jogos tizenegyest – írja az Origo.
A feldühödött drukkerek a pályára tódultak, és kergetni kezdték az ellenfél játékosait és a bírókat, akik az öltözőbe menekültek. Állítólag a Velez elnöke azt kiabálta a sporiknak: „Nem fogtok ebből innen élve kijönni.”
Később a csapatnak ugyan sikerült elhagynia a stadiont és környékét, a játékvezetők viszont nem jártak ilyen sikerrel. Sabrija Topalovic játékvezető és asszisztense autóját ugyanis a Mostar szurkolói a Szarajevóba vezető úton, a Lendeva alagútban megállásra kényszerítették. Baseball-ütőkkel szétverték az autót, bántalmazták a focibírókat – egyikük könnyebb sérüléseket szenvedett –, majd felgyújtották a járművet. A tetteseket még keresi a rendőrség.
A Bosznia-Hercegovinai Labdarúgó Szövetség elnöke, Vico Zeljkovic elítélte a meccsen történteket és a huligántámadást a játékvezetők ellen. A lehető legkeményebb szankciókat helyezte kilátásba a találkozó szervezői, valamint a hazai csapat elnöke, Semsudin Hasic ellen, akit a leginkább felelősnek tart a történtekért.
A bajnoki három pontját 3-0-s gólkülönbséggel a Borac kapta meg.
