A rendőrök vasárnap hajnali 3:30 előtt kaptak bejelentést lövöldözésről a Taste of the City Lounge nevű szórakozóhelyről, a Franklin Avenue 903. szám alatt, a Crown Heights negyedben – közölte Jessica Tisch, a New York-i rendőrség (NYPD) rendőrbiztosa egy sajtótájékoztatón.
A halálos áldozatok három férfi volt, 27 és 35 évesek, valamint egy ismeretlen korú személy.
A lövöldözéssel kapcsolatban eddig senkit sem tartóztattak le, a tetteseket még nem azonosították.
A helyszínen legalább 36 töltényhüvelyt találtak.
„New York városában idén hét hónap alatt a valaha mért legalacsonyabb számú lövöldözéses eset és sebesült szerepel a statisztikákban. Egy ilyen eset, hála Istennek, ritkaság, de természetesen szörnyű, ami ma reggel történt” – mondta Tisch.
Az NYPD nyomozást indított a hajnalban történt lövöldözés ügyében. Az X-re feltöltött videók szerint rendőrök álltak a helyszínen, vértócsák és betört üvegdarabok mellett.

Ritkán látható jelenetek zajlottak le hétfőn egy brooklyni zsinagógában, ahol egy illegálisan ásott alagutat akartak felszámolni, de ezt a járatot kiásó ortodox zsidó fiatalok nem hagyták – írja a Daily Mail.
A Crown Heights negyedben található épület alatt húzódó alagutat decemberben fedezte fel a zsinagóga vezetése, amely évtizedek óta konfliktusban áll a gyülekezet egy részével. A járat egy közeli, használaton kívüli mikvéhez, vagyis fürdőházhoz vezet, de nem világos, hogy pontosan milyen céllal ásták ki.
A zsinagógához hétfőn betonkeverők és munkások érkeztek, hogy betömjék az alagutakat, de a fiatalok beugrottak a járatba, és megakadályozták a munkát. Végül a rendőrségnek kellett közbeavatkoznia. Komoly dulakodás tört ki, amely miatt tíz embert vettek őrizetbe.
A közösségi médiában terjedő videókon az látható, amint a több tucatnyi New York-i rendőr megpróbálja visszaszorítani a feldühödött tömeget az alagút bejáratától.
A zsinagógát vezető rabbi, Yosef Braun elítélte az incidenst, szerinte a fiatalok tettei „borzalmasak”, és szégyent hoztak a szent helyre. A zsinagóga vezetése és az alagutat ásók közötti konfliktus arra vezethető vissza, hogy a két fél nem ért egyet abban, jogilag kié a százéves épület, amely egyben a Chábád Lubavics mozgalom központja is.
