Szerdán több száz ember gyűlt össze a Capitolium épületegyüttese körül és annak belsejében, és az Izrael és a Gázai övezetet irányító Hamász palesztin terrorista csoport közötti háború befejezését követelték. Az eseménnyel összefüggésben rendfenntartókat helyeztek át más kerületekből a Capitoliumhoz.
A Capitolium rendőrségének szóvivője elmondta, hogy összesen mintegy 300 tüntetőt vettek őrizetbe a Capitolium komplexumában.
Néhány tüntető, a baloldali zsidó csoport, a Jewish Voice for Peace koordinálásával különböző bejáratokon keresztül bejutott az Cannon House irodaházába.
A rendőrség kifejtette, hogy a tüntetők, a látogatókhoz hasonlóan beléphetnek a Capitolium épületegyüttesébe, és csak akkor lehetnek problémáik, ha rendbontásra kerül sor. A hét elején hasonló demonstrációra került sor a Fehér Ház közelében, ahol szintén több tucat tüntetőt vettek őrizetbe.

Az amerikai esküdtszék bűnösnek találta zendülésre való szervezkedés vádjában a 2021-es capitoliumi ostrom egyik fő vádlottját, Stewart Rhodest, írja az MTI.
A 2009 óta létező, úgynevezett Oath Keepers nevű szélsőséges szervezet öt vezetője állt Washingtonban bíróság elé, öt különböző vádpontban. A zendülésre vonatkozó vádban Rhodes mellett még egy embert, Kelly Meggst is bűnösnek találták. A többi vádlottat felmentették ebben a vádpontban, amelyet a békés hatalomátadás megállítását célzó átfogó terv kidolgozása miatt terjesztett elő az ügyészség.
Két embert bűnösnek találtak a hivatalos eljárás megakadályozására vonatkozó szervezkedés vádjával, Rhodest és két társát ugyanakkor felmentették ebben a vádpontban. Rhodest egyébként a zendülésre vonatkozó vádponton kívül mindenben felmentették.
Négy vádlottat bűnösnek találtak dokumentumok illetéktelen eltulajdonítása miatt, három embert pedig azért, mert hivatalos személyt akadályoztak kötelességének teljesítésében.
- január 6-án az Egyesült Államokat megrázó, a világot pedig megdöbbentő szürreális jelenetek játszódtak le Washingtonban. A tömeg Trump nagygyűléséről a törvényhozás épülete elé vonult, ahol a volt elnök alaptalan vádjait ismételgették, miszerint a 2020-as választást elcsalták. Sokan azt is skandálták, hogy „akasszátok fel Mike Pence-t!”.
A Capitolium elleni támadás kivizsgálására létrehozott kongresszusi különbizottság többek között a volt elnök és tanácsadói felelősségét is vizsgálja az ügyben. A vizsgálat következményeinek óriási tétje lehet, ugyanis a republikánusok több államban nem is titkolják, hogy a 2024-es elnökválasztási eredmények adminisztratív befolyásolására készülnek.
A Capitolium elleni támadásban vagy annak következtében összesen öt ember halt meg, a tömeg mintegy 140 rendőrtisztet bántalmazott.

Lezárták az utat az amerikai törvényhozás épülete, a Capitolium és a Kongresszusi Könyvtár környékén Washingtonban, miután a könyvtár közelében parkoló járművek egyikében ülő férfi azt állította, hogy robbanóanyag van nála.
homas Manger, a capitoliumi rendőrség főkapitánya azt mondta, azonnal kiürítették a közeli épületeket. Bár a képviselőház és a szenátus tagjai jelenleg a nyári szabadságukat töltik, a rendőrfőkapitány elmondta, hogy „a helyszín közelében lévő épületekben továbbra is dolgoznak emberek”. Korábbi sajtótájékoztatóján a főkapitány úgy fogalmazott:
A tárgyalók keményen dolgoznak, hogy békés megoldást találjanak az esetre.
Korábban az amerikai Szövetségi Nyomozó Iroda (FBI) Washington DC-ben található irodája a Twitteren közölte, hogy fővárosi egységük, a capitoliumi rendőrséggel és más partnereikkel közösen reagálnak a Kongresszusi Könyvtár közelében történt esetre.
Órákon át tartó tárgyalás után a gyanúsított végül megadta magát. A rendőrség tájékoztatója szerint az észak-karolinai származású, 49 éves Floyd Ray Roseberry helyi idő szerint délután fél három körül kiszállt a járművéből, majd őrizetbe vették.
Manger a letartóztatást követően tartott újabb sajtótájékoztatóján elmondta, hogy a tárgyalás során a rendőrök átadtak a gyanúsítottnak egy telefont, hogy kommunikálni tudjanak. A férfiról kiderült, hogy a közelmúltban elvesztette egy családtagját. A főkapitány tájékoztatása szerint kollégái folyamatosan tartották a kapcsolatot a férfi szeretteivel is.

Egy férfi azt állította, hogy bombát helyezett el a teherautójában a washingtoni Capitolium könyvtárának közelében – közölte a CNN.
A hírportál azt írja, hogy a férfi egy fekete teherautóval hajtott a járdára a Kongresszusi Könyvtár előtt helyi idő szerint reggel 9 óra 15 perckor. Ekkor szólt, hogy bombája van, a rendőrök a fenyegetés után kiürítették a környéket.
A rendőrök tárgyaltak a férfivel, de nem sikerült sok információt megtudni róla. A CNN szerint a férfi egy videót is közzétett a Facebookon, amelyben elmondta, hogy tart egy bombát az autójában, és hogy „forradalomra” készül.
Az érintett épületekben tartózkodókat e-mailben figyelmeztették, hogy hagyják el a helyszínt, a legfelsőbb bíróság épületét is kiürítették. A Szenátus és a Képviselőház egyébként most nem ülésezik.

Már négyen követtek el öngyilkosságot azon rendőrök közül, akik az amerikai törvényhozás, a Capitolium épületét védték annak januári ostromakor – erről számolt be kedden a Washington Times című amerikai konzervatív napilap.
A WUSA9 nevű televíziós csatorna szerint a fővárosi rendőrség hétfőn erősítette meg, hogy véget vetett életének egy 26 éves rendőr, Kyle DeFreytag.
DeFreytag az ostrom után elrendelt kijárási tilalom betartásáért felelt, amelyet azután vezettek be, hogy tüntetők rendőrökkel csaptak össze, és betörtek a kongresszus épületébe, azt követően, hogy Donald Trump előző amerikai elnök az elektori szavazatok hitelesítésének leállítására szólított fel.
A rendőrség nem sokkal azután tudatta DeFreytag halálhírét, hogy megerősítette: a múlt csütörtökön szintén öngyilkosságot követett el Gunther Hashida rendőr. „Hashida rendőr hős volt, aki életét kockáztatta a Capitoliumunk, a kongresszusi közösség és demokráciánk védelméért” – fogalmazott Nancy Pelosi demokrata párti házelnök. „Minden amerikai hálával tartozik neki a január 6-án és az egész, önzetlen szolgálata során tanúsított nagyfokú bátorságáért és hazafiasságáért” – tette hozzá.
A Capitoliumot védő rendőrök közül elsőként Howard Liebengood követett el öngyilkosságot, 51 éves korában. Halálának hírét a capitoliumi rendőrség januárban erősítette meg. Néhány héttel később önkezével vetett véget életének Jeffrey Smith washingtoni rendőr is.
A Capitolium január 6-i ostromának kivizsgálásával megbízott kongresszusi bizottság a múlt héten kezdte meg munkáját. A első, múlt keddi ülésen az egyik rendőr, Michael Fanone – akit az ostrom során összevertek – bírálta a Republikánus Párt egyes tagjait. „A kollégáimmal szembeni közöny szégyenteljes” – fogalmazott Fanone. A bizottság tagja, Adam Kinzinger illinois-i republikánus képviselő közölte: a vizsgálat során alaposan szemügyre veszik, hogy mit csinált és milyen beszélgetéseket folytatott a republikánus hívekkel Trump.
Az amerikai törvényhozás épületét január 6-án ostromolták meg, Trump gyújtó hatású beszéde után. Az előző elnök nem ismerte el vereségét, és arról írt a közösségi oldalain, hogy a választást elcsalták. A Capitoliumban a szenátus épp a demokrata párti Joe Biden győzelmét hozó novemberi elnökválasztás eredményeit készült hitelesíteni.
Az összecsapásokban öten életüket vesztették, köztük a biztonsági erők egyik tagja. Brian Sicknick összeesett, amikor összetűzésbe került a támadókkal, és meghalt. Az igazságügyi orvos szakértő később megállapította, hogy halálát természetes ok idézte elő.

Alig több mint fél évvel a történtek után elítélték az első embert a Capitolium ostroma miatt: a CNN beszámolója szerint 8 hónapot kapott a floridai Paul Hodgkins, a vádirat szerint kongresszusi folyamatok, egészen pontosan az elektori szavazatok megszámlálásának akadályozása miatt.
Hodgkins büntetése előrevetítheti, mi vár arra a legalább 230 emberre, akik ugyanezzel a váddal kerülnek a bíróság elé. A következő hónapokban rajtuk kívül még több száz ember ellen indulhatnak jogi eljárások.
2021.január 6-án, miközben a Joe Biden választási győzelmét megpecsételő elektori szavazatok számlálása tartott volna a washingtoni Capitoliumban, egy Trump-szimpátiatüntetést követően erőszakos demonstrálók százai rohamozták meg a törvényhozás épületét. Az ostrom miatt ki kellett menekíteni az ülésteremben ülőket, egy tüntető pedig meghalt az ütközetben. A most elítélt Paul Hodgkins egy Trumpot ábrázoló pólóban, hasonló zászlóval tört be a Capitoliumba.
Az ügyben döntő bíró, Randolph Moss szerint az elítélt egy nagyszabású, demokráciaellenes bűntettben vett részt. Ahogy fogalmaz, amikor egy tömeg megtámadja a Capitoliumot, hogy megakadályozzon egy alkotmányos folyamatot, a demokrácia hatalmas bajban van. A kár, amit okoztak, jócskán túlnyúlik azon az egy napon, és évtizedekig nyoma lesz még az országban.

Nem a tüntetők, hanem szélütések okozta Brian Sicknick rendőrtiszt halálát, amikor a Capitoliumot védte januárban a tüntetőktől – jelentette a washingtoni orvosszakértői hivatal.
Sicknick a január 6-i zavargások másnapján vesztette életét, s a capitoliumi rendőrség által akkor kiadott jelentések szerint tüntetők vegyszerrel fújták le, mire a 42 éves rendőrtiszt összeesett és másnap elhunyt.
A hónapokig tartó részletes nyomozás nem igazolta ezt a feltételezést. A washingtoni orvosszakértői hivatal munkatársa, Francisco Diaz igazságügyi orvosszakértő – a The Washington Post című lapnak nyilatkozva – közölte, hogy a rendőrtiszt halálát nem külső beavatkozás okozta, hanem két, egymást követő szélütés (sztrók).
Hozzátette: a rendőrtiszt boncolása során nem találtak bizonyítékot arra, hogy vegyszerek váltottak volna ki nála végzetes reakciót.
Öt ember halt meg a Capitolium ostromakor Diaz ugyanakkor azt is megjegyezte, hogy a január 6-i események „szerepet játszottak (Sicknick) állapotának alakulásában”.
Az adatvédelmi jogszabályok miatt azonban arról nem adhatott tájékoztatást, hogy a rendőrnek voltak-e már korábban is egészségi problémái.
Brian Sicknick egyike volt annak az öt embernek, akik életüket vesztették, amikor Donald Trump volt amerikai elnök szimpatizánsai január 6-án megrohamozták a Capitoliumot, azt követően, hogy Trump nagygyűlést tartott a közelben. A törvényhozásban a novemberi elnökválasztás eredményét készültek hitelesíteni. A volt elnök ellen a demokrata többségű képviselőház lázadás szítása miatt alkotmányos felelősségre vonási eljárást (impeachment) indított, a Capitolium megtámadása előtti nagygyűlésen mondott, gyújtó hangú beszédére hivatkozva.
Trumpot végül – az eljárás végén – a szenátus felmentette.
Két embert tartóztattak le Sicknick halála miatt
A múlt hónapban két férfit tartóztattak le azzal a gyanúval, hogy ők támadták meg Sicknick rendőrtisztet és ártalmas vegyszerrel fújták le. Az ügyészek és az igazságügyi orvosszakértő azonban nem bizonyította az összefüggést a rendőr halála és a ráfújt szer között. Ennek megfelelően a 32 éves Julian Elie Khatert és a 39 éves George Pierre Taniost a rendőrtiszt halálával nem vádolják, de más vádpontokban (például szövetségi tisztségviselő megtámadásában, fizikai erőszakban, majd a nyomozás akadályozásában) továbbra is büntető eljárás folyik ellenük.
A Capitolium elleni támadás miatt egyébként eddig több mint 400 ember ellen emeltek vádat.

Ismét lezárták az amerikai törvényhozás épületének környékét, miután helyi idő szerint péntek délután egy autós elgázolt két rendőrtisztet egy ellenőrzőpontnál, majd autójával egy beton úttorlasznak rohant.
A capitoliumi rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint a gyanúsítottat lelőtték, miután az ütközést követően kiszállt az autójából és kést rántott. A támadót kritikus állapotban vitték kórházba, később belehalt sebesülésébe. Az egyik rendőrtiszt szintén életét vesztette. A capitoliumi rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint az elhunyt kollégájukat William Evansnek hívták, aki 18 éve volt az állomány tagja. A másik rendőrt a sürgősségi orvosi személyzet szállította kórházba.
Az amerikai sajtó értesülései szerint a támadót Noah Greennek hívták. Az illető az Iszlám Nemzet nevű szélsőséges, elsősorban afro-amerikaiakat vonzó szervezettel rokonszenvezett.
A 25 éves férfi, aki valószínűleg Virginiában élt, Facebook-oldalán „Farrakhan követőjeként” jellemezte magát. Louis Farrakhan az Iszlám Nemzet vezetője, aki 1978-tól szervezte újjá a mozgalmat, visszatérve a korábbi rasszista szemlélethez.
A Capitoliumot a lövöldözés után lezárták, és a személyzetnek megtiltották, hogy elhagyja az épületet, de néhány órával a történtek után feloldották a zárlatot. Yogananda Pittman, a capitoliumi rendőrség megbízott vezetője elmondta, hogy a gyanúsított a Capitolium északi oldalán elütött két tisztet, majd az egyik beton úttorlasznak ütközött. A gépkocsivezető egy késsel a kezében szállt ki az autóból, és nem reagált a rendőrök felszólításaira. Akkor lőtték le, amikor elindult a rendőrök felé. „Ez rendkívül nehéz időszak a capitoliumi rendőrség életében. Azt kérem mindenkitől, hogy imádkozzanak értünk és a családtagokért” – fogalmazott Pittman.
„Úgy tűnik, hogy nem terrorcselekményről van szó” – erről beszélt sajtótájékoztatóján Robert Contee, a fővárosi rendőrség megbízott vezetője. Hozzátette, hogy jelenleg is zajlik a nyomozás, és megvizsgálják, hogy a lelőtt gépkocsivezetőnek volt-e köze valamilyen terrorszervezethez. Contee azt is elmondta, hogy az első információk szerint az elkövető korábban nem került a rendőrség látókörébe.
A Nemzeti Gárda helyszínen lévő katonái azonnal a rendőrség segítségére siettek, úgynevezett elhárító gyorsreagálású erőket vezényeltek a Capitolium közelébe. Sajtóinformációk szerint közülük senkinek sem esett baja. Wasington DC-ben továbbra is a Nemzeti Gárda nagyjából 2300 katonája támogatja a hatóságokat.
Nancy Pelosi, a képviselőház demokrata elnöke az eset után elrendelte, hogy engedjék félárbócra a Capitolium zászlaját.
Joe Biden amerikai elnök nincs a törvényhozás épületének közelében fekvő Fehér Házban, ugyanis a húsvéti ünnepeket a marylandi Camp Davidben lévő elnöki rezidencián tölti. Az elnök közleményében azt írta: ő és felesége, Jill Biden is fájdalommal értesült a történtekről.

Akkor Donald Trump leköszönő amerikai elnök nagygyűlését követően hívei megrohamozták a törvényhozás épületét, ahol a szenátus éppen a novemberi elnökválasztás eredményét készült hitelesíteni. A támadásban öten életüket vesztették, köztük egy rendőr is.

Lezárták az amerikai törvényhozás épületének környékét, miután helyi idő szerint péntek délután egy autós elgázolt két rendőrtisztet egy ellenőrzőpontnál, majd autójával egy betonbarikádba rohant, majd a gépjárműből kiszállva késsel hadonászott.
A capitoliumi rendőrség jelentése szerint a gyanúsítottat meglőtték, amikor az ütközést követően kiszállt az autójából, és kést rántott. A sofőrt kritikus állapotban vitték kórházba. A helyszínre kivonult a nemzeti gárda és az FBI is.
Az egyik rendőrt, aki súlyosabban megsérült, rendőrautóval vitték kórházba, a másikat a sürgősségi orvosi személyzet szállította el. A Capitoliumot a lövöldözés után lezárták, és mindenkinek megtiltották, hogy elhagyja az épületet.
A capitoliumi rendőrség sajtótájékoztatót tartott a támadás után, ahol közölték, hogy meghalt az egyik rendőrtiszt és a támadó – olvasható a CNN-en.
