Az izraeli hadsereg vasárnapra időkeretet szabott meg a Gázai övezetben élő civileknek a tengerparti régió déli részére való meneküléshez, az izraeli erők helyi idő szerint 10 és 14 óra között (közép-európai idő szerint 9 és 13 óra között) engedélyeznék a forgalmat egy kijelölt útvonalon – írta az izraeli hadsereg szóvivője az X platformon (korábban Twitter) szombat este.
A hadsereg egy térképet is közzétett a kijelölt útvonalról. A szóvivő felszólította az embereket, hogy saját biztonságuk érdekében használják ki az alkalmat és induljanak dél felé.
Az izraeli hadsereg a múlt hét végén terjesztette ki szárazföldi hadműveletét a Gázai övezetben, felszólítva a lezárt tengerparti sáv északi részén élőket, hogy húzódjanak délebbre. A sűrűn lakott Gázai övezet 2,2 millió lakosából az izraeli hadsereg szerint legalább 700 ezren tettek eleget a felszólításnak, az ENSZ szerint pedig mintegy kétszer annyian, 1,4 millióan.
Az izraeli hadsereg a polgári lakosság számára kijelölt déli területeken is intéz célzott támadásokat, légicsapásokat a Hamász ellen, közleményében hangsúlyozva, hogy a terület nem biztonságos övezet, de biztonságosabb, mint bármely más hely Gázában.
