A Dél-afrikai Köztársaságban kampány indult az illegális bányászat felszámolására. Az akció során járőrözés közben négy férfit találtak, akik arról számoltak be, hogy több mint száz ember rekedt egy elhagyatott bányában – írja az Origo.
A Dél-afrikai Köztársaságban található Sabie-ben járőrözött az egyik biztonsági társaság csapata, amikor találkoztak négy férfival. Látszott rajtuk, hogy az életükért menekülnek. Kiderült róluk, hogy illegális bányászok, és elmondták az őröknek, hogy az egyik elhagyatott bányában több mint 100 ember ragadt bent.
A helyi rendőrség szóvivője szerint az elhagyatott bányában 150 ember rekedt bent, hatan kijutottak, hárman pedig meghaltak – írja a Power987.
42 egymást követő életfogytiglan tartó börtönbüntetésre ítélte egy dél-afrikai bíróság Nkosinathi Phakathit, akit 90 rendbeli nemi erőszak miatt ítéletek el.
A férfi 2012 és 2021 között követte el bűntetteit, több esetben gyerekek ellen, legfiatalabb áldozata 9, legidősebb 44 éves volt.
Phakathi több alkalommal a saját otthonukban támadta meg áldozatait, villanyszerelőnek kiadva magát, és olyan is előfordult, hogy az áldozatait kényszerítette arra, hogy erőszakoskodjanak egymással. Az ügyész szerint a 40 éves férfi az eljárás során a megbánás semmi jelét nem mutatta és nem rehabilitálható. Dél-Afrikában több életfogytig tartó büntetést csak a legsúlyosabb esetekben ítélnek. Több mint ötszáz bányászt tartanak fogva kollégáik a föld alatt már második napja Dél-Afrikában, egy Johannesburg melletti aranybányában, egy elfajult szakszervezeti vita miatt – közölte a bánya vezetője kedden.
A létesítményt üzemeltető New Kleynfontein Gold Mine vezérigazgatója azt mondta, az incidens hétfőn kora reggel kezdődött, mikor egy nyilvántartásba nem vett szakszervezet bányászai több száz embert megakadályoztak abban, hogy az éjjeli műszak befejeztével elhagyják a bányát. A vezérigazgató figyelmeztetett: a helyszínen kalapácsok, csákányok, lapátok és más egyéb olyan bányászati felszerelések is találhatók, amelyek akár fegyverként is használhatók.
A vezérigazgató tudomása szerint 543 alkalmazottja tartózkodhat a föld alatt a bánya különböző pontjain, a „túszejtőkkel” pedig hétfőn kora reggel vették fel a kapcsolatot. Beszámolója alapján a dulakodás során egy férfi súlyos fejsérülést szenvedett, azonban az érte küldött mentőt és biztonsági tisztet az irányítást átvevő rivális szakszervezet bányászai szintén túszul ejtették. A bányába vezényelt rendőröknek nem sikerült a bányászokkal kapcsolatba lépniük vezetékes telefonon és rádión sem.
A Bányászok Országos Szakszervezete (NUM), a bánya által elismert hivatalos szakszervezet közlése szerint több mint ötszáz tagjukat „huligánok tartják fogva a föld alatt”, illetve a fogva tartott bányászok között nők is vannak.
A bányát irányító cég az AMCU nevű rivális szakszervezet tagjait hibáztatja a kialakult helyzetért, és azzal vádolta meg az AMCU bányászait, hogy saját szakszervezetüket akarják a bánya hivatalos szakszervezetévé tenni. Az AMCU tagjai azonban tagadták a cég információit: állításuk szerint tagjaik ülve tüntettek szakszervezetük érdekében.
