Késsel nyakon szúrta egy ismeretlen férfi Li Dzse Mjung dél-koreai ellenzéki vezetőt, aki kedden Puszanban tett látogatást – közölte a helyi rendőrség.
Li Dzse Mjungot, az ellenzéki Demokrata Párt vezetőjét egy közeli kórházba szállították. A rendőrség és a mentők közlése szerint erősen vérzett, de eszméleténél volt, és állapota nem volt kritikus.
Li a puszani új repülőtér építési helyszínén tett látogatást.
A támadó férfi, aki autogramkérőként férkőzött a közelébe, miután Li befejezte a szemlét, egy késsel sebesítette meg a nyakán.
A közösségi médiára felkerült videókon látható, hogy a támadót, aki papírkoronát viselt „Li Dzse Mjung vagyok” felirattal, többen üldözőbe vették és elfogták, majd a rendőrség a helyszínen letartóztatta.
A merénylő a rendőröknek nem volt hajlandó elárulni a nevét és azt sem, hogy miért követte el a támadást – írta a Yonhap hírügynökség.
A Demokrata Párt közleményében „Li elleni terrorista támadásnak” nevezte a történteket, hozzátéve, hogy az „súlyos fenyegetést jelent a demokráciára”, és felszólította a rendőrséget, hogy az incidenst gyorsan és alaposan vizsgálja ki.
A párt szóvivője elmondta, hogy miután ellátták Li sebesülését, a pártvezetőt Szöulba szállították, ahol megoperálják.
Jun Szok Jol dél-koreai elnök, aki hangsúlyozta, hogy nem tűrik az ilyen erőszakot, mély aggodalmát fejezte ki Li állapota miatt, és a hatóságokat az ügy kivizsgálására utasította.
Li, aki a liberális Demokrata Párt jelöltjeként indult a 2022-es dél-koreai elnökválasztáson, csak kis különbséggel maradt le a győztes Jun Szok Jol mögött.
