Amr Hanafi vörös-tengeri kormányzó tájékoztatása szerint a hajó fedélzetén 45 ember volt a baleset idején: 31 külföldi állampolgár és 14 tagú legénység. A baleset a búvárparadicsomként ismert Marszá Alam város közelében történt, és több embert már sikerült kimenteni.
Az orvosi ellátásra szorulókat mentőrepülővel szállították el, a többieket pedig hajóval vitték biztonságos helyre – mondta a kormányzó.

A legfrissebb információink szerint a hajó fedélzetén 45 utas tartózkodott, melyek között nem volt magyar állampolgár, így magyar érintettségről jelenleg nincs tudomásunk. Konzuljaink folyamatosan nyomon követik az eseményeket és kapcsolatban állnak a helyi hatóságokkal.
A hatóságok tájékoztatása szerint 28 embert sikerült kimenteni a vízből, 17 utast pedig továbbra is keresnek.
A Sea Story nevű turistahajó vasárnap indult Marszá Alamból hatnapos búvárkörútra. A hatóságokat hétfőn hajnalban riasztották a fedélzetről, a kutató- és mentőakció azonnal elindult.

Elsüllyedt egy palaui felségjelzésű teherhajó a Fekete-tengeren vasárnap, a török Bartin tartomány partjainál, Inkumu falu közelében – jelentette az Anadolu török állami hírügynökség, beszámolva arról is, hogy a 13 fős legénység (közülük 10 ukrán állampolgár) legkevesebb két tagja életét vesztette.
A térségben zord időjárási körülmények uralkodnak. A balesetet követően az Arvin nevű teherhajó legénysége mentőcsónakokba szállt, és a tengeren hánykolódik, mindössze 600–700 méterre a szárazföldtől.
Erős szél és magas hullámzás nehezíti a mentést, ezért a műveletben a török parti őrség és a katasztrófavédelem mellett a haditengerészet is részt vesz. A csapatok eddig öt embert tudtak kimenteni, de kettőnek már csak a holttestére bukkantak rá. A mentési munkálatok folytatódnak.
Sinan Güner, Bartin tartomány kormányzója az Anadolunak azt nyilatkozta, hogy a teherhajó Georgiából Bulgáriába tartott, és a rossz időjárásra tekintettel húzódott közelebb a partvonalhoz, mielőtt a szerencsétlenség történt. A hajó legénységének tagjai ukrán állampolgárok – ismertette Güner.
