A York-i Egyetem kutatása szerint a brit háztartások kétharmadában télre beáll az energiaszegénység, amennyiben a brit kormány a tervei szerint megvonja az energiaár-támogatást.
A York-i Egyetem tanulmánya szerint jelenleg 18 millió család fordítja jövedelmének több mint 10 százalékát energiára. A gáz- és villamosenergia-szabályozó Ofgem februárban lehetővé tette beszállítói számára, hogy a gázárak emelkedésére reagálva 54 százalékkal emeljék a maximális összeget, amelyet évente kiszámlázhatnak az ügyfeleknek – írja az Euronews.
A jelenlegi ársapkát októberben módosíthatják további 70 százalékos áremeléssel.
Megállíthatatlanul nőnek az energiaárak
Az áremelés után háztartásonként 4100 euróba (1 685 592 forint) kerülhet az átlagos éves energiaköltség, amire még soha nem volt példa, és januárban még tovább növekedhet a számlákon szereplő összeg.
A kis-, illetve mikrovállalkozások sínylik meg az áremelkedést a leginkább, amelyek az Egyesült Királyságban a vállalkozások 99 százalékát teszik ki. Ezek jobbára 50 főnél kevesebbet foglalkoztatnak és 75 százalékukban kizárólag a tulajdonos dolgozik. A kisvállalkozások fele attól tart, hogy be kell zárnia az energiaszámlák miatt.
Az alulról szerveződő Don’t Pay UK mozgalom a résztvevői szerint a szolidaritásról szól, különösen azokkal, akik kénytelenek választani otthonuk fűtése és családjuk élelmezése között. Elégedetlenségüket fokozta, hogy az energiacégek bevétele növekszik.
A mozgalom jelmondata: „Ne fizesd ki a számlád!”
A mozgalom fő üzenete a „Ne fizesd ki a számlád!” felkiáltás. Október 1-ig bővítenék a támogatói kört akkora létszámúra, hogy a kormányt az energiacégekkel együtt rákényszerítsék a terhek újragondolására. Eddig több mint 113 ezren csatlakoztak, és a szám valószínűleg tovább emelkedik a pénteki nemzeti akciónap után.
A National Energy Action jótékonysági szervezet szerint évente tízezer ember halálához vezet a hideg, fűtetlen háztartás, mert szívrohamot, szélütést, hörghurutot és más súlyos betegségeket kapnak.
Valószínűsítik az egészségügyi kockázatok súlyosbodását, mivel a brit családoknak közel háromszor magasabb gáz- és villanyszámlát kell fizetniük, mint bármikor az 1970-es évek óta.

A bukaresti kormány székháza előtt tüntettek a romániai alumíniumipari szakszervezetek, amelyek az elszabadult energiaárak korlátozását követelik a munkahelyek védelmében.
A tiltakozó megmozdulásra – a hatályos járványügyi létszámkorlátozást betartva – a dél-romániai Slatinán működő Alro alumíniumgyár és a Duna torkolatvidékén, Tulceán üzemelő Alum timföldgyár mintegy száz alkalmazottja érkezett Bukarestbe. Az Alro az ország legnagyobb energiafelhasználójának számít, a magas energiaárak miatt azonban csökkenteni kényszerült a termelést, ezért Slatinán és Tuceán is munkások ezreit küldik kényszerszabadságra. A szakszervezetek szerint az Alrótól függő beszállítók mintegy 12 ezer alkalmazottja is munka nélkül maradt és további 30 ezer munkahely került veszélybe.
A tüntetők azt kifogásolták, hogy a bukaresti kormány csak a lakossági fogyasztók és kisvállalkozások számára vezetett be – egyelőre március végéig tartó – energiaár-korlátozást. Azt követelik, hogy a kormány a nagy energiafogyasztók esetében is a 2020 decemberi szinten fagyassza be a villamosenergia és a gáz árát. A szakszervezetek azt szeretnék elérni, hogy a villanyáram árát megawattóránként 750 lejre korlátozzák.
Az Alro dolgozói korábban Slatinán is tüntettek, a bukaresti kormány pedig múlt pénteki ülésén memorandumban hatalmazta fel az energiaügyi minisztériumot, hogy tárgyalásokat kezdjen az Európai Bizottsággal azoknak a nagy energiafogyasztó vállalatoknak az állami segélyezéséről, amelyeket a karbonkvóták alkalmazása esetén félő, hogy áttelepítenek a – széndioxid-kibocsátási korlátozások nélküli – szabályozatlan országokba. A kormány a munkahelyek védelmére hivatkozva kéri a beavatkozáshoz Brüsszel jóváhagyását. Az intézkedés az alumíniumipari vállalatokon kívül a – magas gázárak miatt – leállt marosvásárhelyi Azomures műtrágyagyárat is érintené.
Dan Carbunaru kormányszóvivő szerint a 2019-2021 között még engedélyezett állami támogatás bebizonyította hatékonyságát, Romániában a nagy energiaigényű iparágak termelik a GDP 6 százalékát.
