Dulakodás tört ki az ENSZ békefenntartói és a ciprusi török biztonsági erők között pénteken az ENSZ ellenőrzése alá tartozó ütközőzónában engedély nélkül végzett építkezés miatt – közölte a békefenntartó misszió.
Szemtanúk szerint a békefenntartókra a ciprusi török biztonsági erők rendőrei és katonái támadtak rá, majd bulldózerekkel elmozdították az ENSZ teherautóit, a betonoszlopokat és a szögesdrótkerítést is a szigetet kettészelő, az ENSZ ellenőrzése alatt álló területről.
Az eset egy olyan szektorban történt, amely egy szlovák katonai egység irányítása alatt áll, brit békefenntartói megerősítéssel. Az ENSZ szóvivőjének elmondása alapján három békefenntartó súlyosan megsebesült, és kórházi ápolásra szorul. Lőfegyverhasználat nem történt.
Az Egyesült Államok, Nagy-Britannia és Franciaország, az ENSZ Biztonsági Tanácsának öt álladó tagja közül három ország elítélte a pénteki incidenst. „Ezek a tettek elfogadhatatlanok, és aláássák az ENSZ békefenntartó misszióját” – áll a három ENSZ-nagykövet közös közleményében.
A vita középpontjában a ciprusi török hatóságok által tervezett útszakasz megépítése áll, amely összekötné az ütközőzónában lévő Píla (törökül Pile) falut a sziget északi részével, tehát ENSZ-területen létesülne. Még három hasonló falu van a szigeten.
Az ENSZ már korábban aggodalmát fejezte ki ciprusi török hatóságok terve miatt, mert az felborítaná a status quót.
A ciprusi török hatóságokkal megbeszéléseket tartottak a tervekről, ám a munkát már az ENSZ-el való megegyezés előtt megkezdték.
„Az ENSZ békefenntartók felszólítják a ciprusi török felet, hogy tartsa tiszteletben az ENSZ fennhatóságát az ütközőzónában, és tartózkodjon minden olyan cselekedettől, amely tovább fokozhatja a feszültséget, továbbá távolítson el minden személyt és gépezetet az ütközőzónából” – közölték.

Három ENSZ-békefenntartó elhunyt, öt pedig súlyosan megsebesült Mali középső részében, miután konvojuk mellett felrobbant egy pokolgép – közölte a nemzetközi szervezet mali békefenntartó missziója.
A nyugat-afrikai ország a 2012-es puccs óta küzd az ország északi részén megerősödött iszlamista lázadókkal. Nemzetközi becslések szerint a harcok következtében az elmúlt tíz évben millióknak kellett elhagyniuk otthonukat, és több ezren meghaltak.
A lázadók csoportjai közül több is kapcsolatban áll az al-Kaida és az Iszlám Állam nevű terrorszervezettel. Az ENSZ békefenntartó missziójának 2013-as kezdete óta eddig legalább 281 békefenntartó vesztette életét fegyveres támadások következtében, Maliban. Így jelenleg ez az ENSZ-nek ez a legtöbb áldozatot követelő békefenntartó missziója.

Lelőttek egy ír békefenntartót szerdán későn este Libanonban, egy másik pedig súlyosan megsebesült, mikor az ENSZ békefenntartó missziójának (UNIFIL) Bejrútba tartó két páncélozott járművére tüzet nyitottak – közölte az ír védelmi minisztérium.
A súlyos sebesültet a közlemény szerint megoperálták, két további katonát pedig kisebb sérülések miatt láttak el. Két járműben nyolc békefenntartó katona utazott, négyen sértetlenek maradtak.
A minisztérium teljes körű vizsgálatot rendelt el.
Simon Coveney ír védelmi miniszter, aki jelenleg New Yorkban az ENSZ Biztonsági Tanácsának ülésén vesz részt, elmondta, hogy csütörtökön találkozik António Guterres ENSZ-főtitkárral, hogy megbeszéljék a történteket.

A tájékoztatás szerint a Mopti régióban található Douentza településről Sévaréba tartó, műszaki ellátmányt szállító konvoj egyik járműve ráhajtott egy házi készítésű pokolgépre Bandiagara térségében. Az áldozatul esett kéksisakosok állampolgársága egyelőre nem ismert.
Eddig egyetlen, a régióban tevékeny szélsőséges csoport sem jelentkezett elkövetőként.
Maliban és térségében több iszlamista terrorszervezet garázdálkodik, egyesek az Iszlám Állam dzsihadista szervezetnek, mások az al-Kaida nemzetközi terrorhálózatnak fogadtak hűséget. Négy ENSZ-békefenntatartó vesztette életét, többen megsebesültek pénteken a támaszpontjuk elleni terrortámadásban.
A mali ENSZ-misszió (MINUSMA) péntek esti közleménye szerint a támadást mintegy száz állig felfegyverzett terrorista hajtotta végre az Aguelhok városában lévő bázis ellen. Először aknatűz alá vették a támaszpontot, majd robbanóanyaggal megpakolt gépkocsit akartak felrobbantani, és csak ezután indítottak közvetlen támadást. A három órán át tartó összecsapásban a békefenntartók mintegy húsz támadóval végeztek.
Egyelőre senki sem jelentkezett a támadás elkövetőjeként, de az al-Kaida és az Iszlám Állam terroszervezethez köthető iszlamista fegyveresek aktívabbak lettek az utóbbi években a Száhel-övezetben.
Mali középső részén egy katonai őrposzt ellen ugyancsak pénteken elkövetett támadásban három mali katona halt meg, és 17-en megsebesültek. A mali légierő megsemmisítette a támadók négy, fegyverrel megpakolt járművét, és megölt tíz támadót.

Nigériának ezen a részén a Boko Haram nevű terrorszervezet emberei hajtanak végre támadásokat rendszeresen 2009 óta. Több mint 36 ezer embert gyilkoltak meg, és több mint kétmilliót elűztek otthonából. Az ISWAP 2016-ban jött létre azokból a terroristákból, akik kiváltak a Boko Haramból.
