Két ember, köztük egy 18 éves érettségiző fiatal meghalt, öt másik pedig megsebesült egy lövöldözésben kedden. Az eset a Virginia Commonwealth Egyetem kampuszán tartott érettségi ünnepség után történt – közölte a richmondi rendőrség.
A lövöldözést követően két embert őrizetbe vettek, közülük a rendőrség egy 19 éves férfit gyanúsított a lövöldözéssel – mondta Richmond ideiglenes rendőrfőnöke egy sajtótájékoztatón. Hozzátette a hatóságok úgy vélik, hogy a gyanúsított legalább az egyik áldozatot ismerte.
Az áldozatok között azonosítottak egy 18 éves diákot, aki nemrég érettségizett, és egy 36 éves férfit, aki az ünnepségen vett részt – mondta a rendőrfőnök.
Az öt sérült áldozat – mind férfi – 14 és 58 év közöttiek.
Az egyik 31 éves áldozatot, életveszélyes sérülésekkel kezelik kórházban – közölte a rendőrség.
A lövöldözés a Monroe Parkban, 17 óra 13 perckor történt, a ballagási ünnepség után – közölték a hatóságok.
A rendőrfőnök szerint négy lőfegyvert találtak a helyszínen.
A hatóságok közölték, hogy szerdán a kerület összes iskolája zárva marad, és hogy minden középiskolai ballagást törölnek, amit a héten tartanának – írja az NBC News.
