Az Egyesült Királyságot extrém időjárás sújthatja, ugyanis a Ventusky meteorológiai szolgálat előrejelzése szerint egyes régiókban három óra alatt akár kilenc napnyi eső is lezúdulhat szombaton.
Az előrejelzések szerint mindössze három óra alatt annyi eső eshet le, mint normál esetben kilenc nap alatt – ez helyenként elérheti akár a 22 millimétert is.
A brit meteorológiai hivatal korábban már figyelmeztetett, hogy április végén az időjárás egyre kiszámíthatatlanabbá válik, és „az eső valószínűleg időnként heves lesz”, amelyhez jégeső és mennydörgés is társulhat – közölte a Daily Mirror.
Az érintett régiókban – különösen Cardiff és Newtown környékén, valamint a Conwy és Newport közötti területeken – 15 és 22 mm közötti csapadék várható, miközben a vihar hatása a környező térségeket sem kerüli el. Birminghamben, Northamptonban, Leicesterben és Bristolban 6–8 mm esőre lehet számítani, míg a délnyugati part mentén, Torquay és Exeter között akár 14 mm is lezúdulhat.
A keleti régiókban enyhébb záporok várhatók, Londonban körülbelül 2 mm eső eshet, Essex és Kent tengerparti területein pedig 3 mm-re számítanak.
A hosszabb távú meteorológiai előrejelzés már jóval korábban jelezte a csapadékos idő visszatérését.
A brit meteorológiai hivatal szerint „sokkal vegyesebb időjárási viszonyok”, eső és zápor jellemzik majd az időszakot.
A nyugati országrészekben előforduló záporok gyakran „hevesek és néhol felhősek lesznek, kis jégesővel és zivatarral”, ugyanakkor az esőzések között világosabb, szárazabb időszakok is lehetnek – bár ezeket is sokfelé borult, felhős égbolt kíséri, korlátozott napsütéssel.
Az előrejelzések arra is figyelmeztetnek, hogy az időszak első napjaiban a legvalószínűbb időjárási forgatókönyv a „bizonytalan, nedves és időnként szeles” idő lesz, míg a hónap vége felé haladva fokozódik az esélye annak, hogy északias, hűvösebb légáramlatok érkeznek, amelyek már egy kevésbé változékony, de továbbra is hűvös időszakot hozhatnak el.
Az extrém időjárás nemcsak közlekedési fennakadásokat és programlemondásokat okozhat, de komoly kihívást jelenthet az infrastruktúra és a mezőgazdaság számára is, különösen azokban a régiókban, ahol rövid idő alatt jelentős mennyiségű eső hullhat le.
Az előrejelzések alapján a hatóságok fokozott figyelmet kérnek a lakosságtól, és javasolják az időjárási figyelmeztetések nyomon követését az elkövetkező napokban.

Jacquemain Shabani miniszterelnök-helyettes, belügyminiszter elmondta, hogy a péntekről szombatra virradóra lezúduló özönvízszerű esőzés a főváros több kerületében jelentős károkat okozott, több tucatnyi sérültet hagyott maga után és számos házat rombolt le.
A kormány a fegyveres erőkkel, több minisztériummal és a kinshasai tartományi kormányzattal együttműködve válságkezelő egységet hozott létre az evakuálások végrehajtására és a mentőegységek bevetésére.
Az árvíz megbénította a város infrastruktúrájának nagy részét, elöntötte a főbb utakat, és széles körű fennakadásokat okozott az egész város áram- és vízellátásában.
A közlekedési minisztérium súlyos fennakadásokról számolt be a főváros nemzetközi repülőterére vezető utakon, ami miatt vészhelyzeti szolgáltatást indítottak a bajba jutott utazók megsegítésére.
A meteorológusok az elkövetkező napokra további heves esőzéseket jósolnak. Attól lehet tartani, hogy további károkat fog elszenvedni a 17 milliós város.

A halálos áldozatok száma 194-re emelkedett az India egyik legnépszerűbb turisztikai célpontján, Kerala állam Wayanad körzetének hegyeiben kedden heves monszunesőzések hatására bekövetkezett földcsuszamlásban.
A hatóságok szerdai összesítése szerint 195 a sebesültek száma, további 180 embert eltűntként tartanak nyilván. Az Asianet TV 194 ember haláláról közölt jelentést.
Az indiai hadsereg közel ezer embert mentett ki és megkezdte a sárlavinában lerombolt híd pótlását. Az Asianet TV 350 épület megsemmisüléséről számolt be a katasztrófa által leginkább érintett területen regisztrált 400 épületből. A dpa úgy tudja, hogy 250 turista rekedt egy üdülőhelyen, amelyet körülzárt a sárlavina.
Kedden kora reggel heves esőzések zúdultak a hegyoldalakra, melynek következtében sár-, víz- és sziklalavinák zúdultak a tea- és kardamomültetvényekre, valamint egyes településekre. A térségre két nap alatt 572 milliméter eső hullott az előrejelzett 204 milliméter helyett.
A mostani a legsúlyosabb természeti katasztrófa az államban a 2018-as áradások óta.

Újabb heves esőzések sújtják Dubajt, ezért megint több járatot töröltek, vagy átirányítottak a helyi nemzetközi repülőtérről. A reptér közlése szerint az éjszaka öt érkező járatot irányítottak át, kilenc másik érkező, valamint négy induló járatot pedig töröltek. A hatóságok felszólították a lakosokat, hogy maradjanak otthon.
A csütörtökön mért csapadék mennyisége nem éri el a két héttel korábbiét, a hatóságok bejelentették, hogy az iskolákban távoktatásra álltak át, a lakosokat pedig arra kérték, amennyiben megtehetik, otthonról dolgozzanak – írja a Magyar Nemzet.

Heves esőzések sújtották a hétvégén a kongói Dél-Kivu tartományt, ahol a nagy mennyiségű lezúduló víz miatt beomlott egy aranybánya. A mentőakcióról készült felvételen látható, amint az egyik bányász puszta kézzel próbálja eltakarítani a törmeléket, hogy megtalálja a bánya szűk bejáratát, amikor hirtelen előugrik egy bányász a lyukból.

Heves viharok és esőzések sújtották Kubát a térségen pénteken átvonuló Agatha hurrikán kíséretében, a zord időjárásnak két halálos áldozata van – közölték a kubai katasztrófavédelmi hatóságok.
A szigetország nyugati és középső részében meghaladta a 200 millimétert a lehullott eső mennyisége – közölte a kubai meteorológiai intézet.
A viharok Havannát is elérték, ahol egy 69 éves férfi meghalt egy összedőlő házban, egy másik pedig megsérült. Nem messze a fővárostól még egy halálos áldozatot hagyott maga után a szél és az eső, a nyugati Pinar del Río tartományban pedig eltűnt egy ember.
Havannában 40 ház részben összedőlt, 2500 embernek el kellett hagynia otthonát. A térségben 50 ezer ember ideiglenesen áramszolgáltatás nélkül maradt.
Kubában még szombatra is jelentős esőket jeleznek előre, és a vihar a hétvégén várhatóan eléri az egyesült államokbeli Floridát is.
