Hatalmas tűz ütött ki Irán hírhedt Evin börtönében, ahol köztörvényes elítéltek mellett politikai foglyokat és kormányellenes aktivistákat tartanak fogva.
A jelentések szerint lövések dördültek el, amikor a fővárosban, Teheránban lévő börtönben a tűz elszabadult – írta meg a Sky News.
Az amerikai székhelyű Iráni Emberi Jogi Központ szerint „fegyveres konfliktus” zajlik a börtön falain belül. Meg nem erősített jelentések szerint először a börtön 7. szárnyában hallottak lövéseket.
Az IRNA állami hírügynökség szerint legalább nyolc ember megsérült a tűzben, de halálos áldozatokról nem érkezett jelentés. A hírügynökség szerint az egyik kórteremben összecsapások voltak a fogvatartottak és a személyzet között.
Egy névtelenséget kérő tisztviselő az iráni Tasnim hírügynökségnek úgy nyilatkozott, hogy egyetlen »biztonsági« (politikai) fogoly sem vett részt a foglyok közötti összecsapásban. A biztonsági foglyok kórterme külön és távol van a tolvajok és a pénzügyi bűncselekményekért elítéltek kórtermétől. A biztonsági foglyok kórterme nem volt érintett a foglyok közötti összecsapásban.
