Két hajós az Atlanti-óceánba zuhant, amikor egy bálna kitört a vízből és a hajójuk hátuljának csapódott. A parti őrség szerint önzetlen segítőknek köszönhetik az életüket. A két csónakos életben maradt, a majdnem katasztrófával végződő szokatlan eseményt a hajósok megmentői lekamerázták. A felvételen az látszik, hogy a tengeri állat kitör a vízből, a hajó megborul és két ember az óceánba repül.
Az incidens az USA-ban, a New Hampshire állambeli Rye-ban található Odiorne Point State Park közelében történt – írta a parti őrség az X-en, akik megnyugtatásul közölték, hogy nem történt sérülés.
Colin Yager, aki a videót rögzítette, kedden azt mondta az NBC Newsnak, hogy miután a bálna kitört, testvérével együtt kimentették a pórul járt hajósokat.
„Hálásak vagyunk a jó szamaritánusoknak, hogy ilyen gyorsan cselekedtek a két személy megmentése érdekében” – áll a parti őrség közleményében.
A parti őrség portsmouthi állomásának legénysége azt jelentette, hogy a bálna sértetlennek tűnt és a csónakot is sikerült megmenteni.

Június 24-én a mentőszolgálat munkatársai bejelentést kaptak, miszerint Ókemencén segítségre van szüksége egy csapatnak, akik csónakázás közben felborultak.
A gyerekek táboroztak a településen, s felnőttek kíséretében indultak el csónakázni. Azonban az egyik pillanatban a sodrás felborította a csónakokat. Szerencsére a gyerekek mentőmellényt viseltek, a legtöbbjük egyedül a partra úszott. Három hétéves gyereket a mentőszolgálat munkatársai mentettek ki, továbbá egy 65 éves férfin is segítettek, aki megpróbálta kimenekíteni a gyerekeket.

Szombaton felborult egy hajó Észak-Kína Hopej tartományában, ami 12 ember halálát okozta.
A szombat délután, Taolinkou település közelében történt hajóbaleset idején összesen 31 ember tartózkodott a fedélzeten. A jelentések szerint a vízi jármű egy illegálisan átalakított turistahajó volt.
Tulajdonosát és a személyzetet őrizetbe vette a rendőrség, a baleset okának kivizsgálása folyamatban van. Az English News arról írt, hogy a baleset után hat embernek is nyoma veszett, ám a hatóságok vasárnap közölték, hogy megtalálták őket épségben.
A Global Times beszámolója szerint a turisták többsége idős volt, mentőmellény nem volt rajtuk. A baleset után a helyszínre összesen 31 tűzoltóautót, 144 tűzoltót, négy mentőcsónakot és 13 gumicsónakot küldtek.
Mint írták, Taolinkou település 2008 óta népszerű turisztikai célpont. Állítólag a faluban szinte minden családnak van egy csónakja, amelyet a csúcsidőszakokban bérbe adnak a turistáknak.

A La Manche csatornán, Franciaország partjainál történt hajóbalesetben legkevesebb hat ember meghalt, és több mint ötven embert kellett kimenteni a vízből. A hajó Franciaországból Nagy-Britanniába próbált átkelni a La Manche csatornán illegális bevándorlókkal a fedélzetén – írja az MTI.
Franck Dhersin, Sangatte tengerparti város polgármestere elmondta, reggel 6 óra körül mentőakció indult, mivel több tucatnyi csónak próbált meg egyszerre átkelni a csatornán.
„Ötvennégy embert kimentettünk, köztük egy nőt” – mondta Anne Thorel, az egyik mentőhajón tartózkodó önkéntes.
A brit parti őrség közölte, hogy Doverből egy mentőhajót küldött a művelethez, továbbá a parti őrség mentőcsapatát és a mentőszolgálat munkatársait.

Bya Latt, a Shwe Yaung Matta Alapítvány mentőcsoportjának szóvivője megosztotta, a halálos áldozatok között 10 nő és 7 férfi volt, mindannyian rohingya muszlimok. A tragédia Rakhine állam fővárosa, Sittwe közelében történt.
Nyolc túlélőt találtak életben, akiket jelenleg is a helyi rendőrőrsön tartanak fogva. Egy helyi rendőrségi tisztviselő a CNN-nek elmondta, hogy a csónakban 58 ember utazott, ám a tengeren egy viharba kerültek, a csónak pedig nem bírta a hatalmas hullámokat.
A helyi rendőrség és a mentőalapítvány közös mentési műveletei azonban jelenleg is folyamatban vannak, hiszen legkevesebb 33 embert még mindig nem találnak. Egy rendőrségi tisztviselő a tragédia kapcsán hozzátette, az áldozatok különböző településekről, köztük Rathedaungból, Maungdawból és Buthidaungból származnak.

Az újabb földközi-tengeri tragédiáról az a négy túlélő – három férfi és egy nő – számolt be, akiket a Rimona nevű, máltai zászló alatt közlekedő kereskedelmi hajó mentett ki a tengerből. A túlélőket szerda reggel adták át az olasz partiőrség egyik járőrhajójának, ezután Lampedusára szállították őket.
Az Elefántcsontpartról és Guineából érkező túlélők azt mondták a parti őrség tisztjeinek, hogy a csónakjuk csütörtök délelőtt 10 órakor hagyta el a tunéziai Szfaksz kikötőjét, és Olaszország felé tartottak. Körülbelül hat órája voltak úton, amikor egy nagy hullám felborította a hétméteres csónakot, amiben összesen 45-en utaztak, köztük volt három gyerek is. A túlélők elmondása szerint csak 15-en viseltek mentőmellényt. A három férfi és a sokkos állapotban lévő nő vallomása szerint rajtuk kívül mindenki más meghalt, így az áldozatok száma negyvenegy.
Mivel a túlélőket több órával a hajótörés után, a tragédia helyszínétől távolabb mentették ki, így sem a Rimona, sem az olasz parti őrség járőrhajói nem észleltek holttesteket a tengerben.
Ferenc pápa néhány nappal ezelőtt, a Portugáliából hazafelé tartó repülőjáraton beszélt arról újságíróknak, hogy a Földközi-tenger a menekültek temetőjévé vált. A katolikus egyházfő arra szólította fel Európa és a világ vezetőit, hogy tenni kell azért, hogy minél több életet mentsenek meg a tengeren és az észak-afrikai sivatagokban.

A Srí Lanka-i haditengerészet közölte, miszerint 14 holttestet találtak, miután felborult egy kínai halászhajó az ausztráliai Perth-től nyugatra, amelynek fedélzetén 39 személy (17 kínai, 17 indonéz és öt Fülöp-szigeteki állampolgár) tartózkodott -számol be róla a Liner.hu.
A rendelkezésre álló információk alapján a Lupeng Yuanyu 028 névre keresztelt hajó május 16-án borult fel, amelyet követően kereső- és mentőegységeket, továbbá három repülőgépet és négy hajót küldtek a helyszínre.
A búvárok kedden két holttestet találtak, majd további tizenkettőt fedeztek fel. Ezt követően a kínai közlekedési minisztérium közölte, hogy a szakemberek csaknem 64 ezer négyzetkilométernyi területet vizsgáltak át, de nem találtak túlélőket.
Az SCMP beszámolója alapján a halászhajó azután küldött vészjelzést, hogy a Fabian ciklon hét méter magas hullámokat generált és 120 km/órát meghaladó széllökéseket hozott magával a térségbe, amelyek jelentős mértékben hátráltatták a mentési munkálatokat.
