A szóvivő közlése szerint a migránsokat szállító hajó felborult az erős szélben. Az EU határvédelmi ügynöksége, a Frontex egyik hajója 56 embert mentett ki a vízből, és három holttestet talált.
A görög parti őrség közölte, hogy további eltűntek utáni kutatás is zajlik, mivel nem kizárt, hogy mások is életüket vesztették a balesetben.
