Már nem csak a környéket elpusztító óriási detonáció okára kíváncsiak, de az igazságszolgáltatást is bírálják, hiszen a tiltakozók szerint alig történt előrelépés a felelősség megállapításában.
Emmanuel Macron francia elnök a tragédia után Bejrútba látogatott, ismerve a borzalmakat, tweetjében Franciaország szolidaritásáról biztosította a libanoni népet.
2020-ban szinte a teljes bejrúti kikötő és környéke felrobbant, miután egy vegyi raktárban tűz keletkezett. A szabálytalanul kezelt ammónium-nitrát óriási robbanások sorozatát okozta: 220-an meghaltak, 6500-an megsebesültek. Az azóta eltelt három év alatt senkit nem vontak felelősségre, erős politikai nyomás nehezíti az eljárást a demonstrálók szerint. Libanon gazdasági összeomlása nehezíti az újjáépítést.

Kosztyin szavai szerint folyamatban van az összes érintett bíróság elé állítása. Azt mondta, hogy a megszállás alatt az orosz hadsereg több mint kilencezer háborús bűncselekményt követett el a kijevi régió bucsai járásában, aminek következtében több mint 1700 civil halt meg, ebből mintegy hétszázan Bucsában.
A főügyész sajtótájékoztatóján kifejezte meggyőződését, hogy még az idén kihirdetik a Nemzetközi Büntetőbíróság (ICC) ügyészi hivatala által kezdeményezett, az ukrajnai orosz háborús bűnök ügyében indult nyomozás első eredményeit. Hozzátette, hogy az oroszok által Ukrajnában elkövetett háborús bűntettek döntő többségét – mintegy 99 százalékát – ukrán bíróságok fogják megvizsgálni, a nemzetközi intézmények „kiegészítő szerepet töltenek be”.
Emellett Kosztyin bejelentette, hogy néhány héten belül megnyílik a Nemzetközi Büntetőbíróság ügyészi hivatalának kirendeltsége Kijevben, és valamivel később részlegeket nyitnak a frontvonalhoz közeli városokban is.
A főügyész szerint az orosz hadsereg céltudatosan rombolja Ukrajnában a létfontosságú polgári infrastruktúrát, mint mondta, eddig 112 – főként energetikai – objektumra 255 csapást mértek. Szavai szerint az Ukrajna elleni teljes körű orosz invázió kezdete óta több mint 81 ezer polgári létesítmény pusztult el vagy rongálódott meg, köztük 62 ezer lakóépület, több mint 2300 oktatási és nevelési, valamint legalább 450 egészségügyi intézmény. Hangsúlyozta: a főügyészség úgy tekinti, hogy ezeknek a támadásoknak a célja lakhatatlan körülmények szándékos megteremtése, és ez megfelel a népirtás egyik, az ENSZ által meghatározott formájának.

Tízezrek tüntettek szerdán a libanoni fővárosban, Bejrútban, igazságszolgáltatást és felelősségre vonást követelve a város kikötőjében egy éve bekövetkezett több mint kétszáz ember halálát és mérhetetlenül nagy anyagi károkat okozó robbanás miatt.
Az EFE spanyol hírügynökség tudósítása szerint ezrek gyűltek össze a bejrúti tűzoltóságnál, hogy onnan induljanak a kikötő irányába, ahol további két menet résztvevőivel találkoznak.
Az áldozatok képeit kezükben tartó tüntetők a többi között „forradalmat” sürgettek.
