Idasisa Nograng, az északkeleti Megalaja állam rendőrfőparancsnoka a sajtónak azt mondta, az áldozattal – akinek a testét június 2-án találták meg – a három férfi végzett.






A hatóság szerint először a férfiakat sikerült elfogni, akik azonnal vallomást tettek, ezt követően pedig a nő is feladta magát a rendőrségen – írja az MTI.



Konrad K. Szangma, Megalaja államminisztere azt mondta, az ügyben egy negyedik embert is keresnek.



Az őrizetbe vett nő apja az ANI indiai hírügynökségnek lánya ártatlanságát hangoztatta, leszögezve: „(a lánya) sosem lett volna képes ilyesmire”. Hozzátette, hogy a lánya és az áldozat nem találkoztak a házasság előtt.



Indiában ma is gyakori az előre elrendezett házasság, amelyről a családok kaszt, gazdasági helyzet és társadalmi státusz alapján döntenek, ritkán véve figyelembe a fiatalok érzéseit.
