 A kétperces, arab nyelvű, olasz feliratozású videót az amerikai konzulátus előtt vették fel éjszaka. A felvételen végig a konzulátus épülete látszik, az alámondott szöveg szerint pedig „Isten segítségével megindul az első akció, amellyel halál vár a cionistákra Európában”. Az üzenet hangoztatja, hogy az amerikai konzulátus elleni támadás puszta figyelmeztetés volt, „de ha Európa és Olaszország továbbra is támogatja Izrael és az Egyesült Államok bűncselekményeit, elindítjuk az első igazi akciót, és tudjátok, hogy a célpontok több mint fele nem izraeli és nem amerikai lesz”. A videó szerint 49 célpontot érhet támadás.
 Az üzenet konkrét fenyegetésként értékelendő, nem szabad alábecsülni – hangsúlyozta Filippo Spiezia firenzei államügyész. Hatósági források nem zárták ki, hogy „magányos farkasról” van szó, vagyis a merénylet és az üzenet mögött egyetlen személy áll. A videón hallható szöveg palesztinai arab nyelvű, ennek alapján igyekeznek azonosítani az elkövetőt.
 A belügyminisztérium terrorkészültséget rendelt el, amely valójában már a Hamász október 7-i támadása óta érvényben van az országban. Több mint 28 ezer veszélyeztetett helyszínen, többek között az Egyesült Államok és Izrael olaszországi intézményeinek, képviseleteinek erősítették meg a védelmet.

 Több órán keresztül zajlott a harc a tüntetők és a rohamrendőrök között Firenze utcáin. A hatóságok a város több pontján igyekeztek oszlatni és feltartóztatni a demonstrálók csoportjait.
 Az este kilencre meghirdetett megmozdulást közösségi oldalakon szervezték a központ különböző terein. A plakáton a firenzei dóm kupolája látszott lángoktól körülvéve. A hatóságok nem engedélyezték a tüntetést, és a városközpontot több pontot lezárták. Az üzletek kirakatait már délután bedeszkázták.
 Dario Nardella polgármester kijelentette, nem hagyja, hogy újfasiszta csoportok szétverjék a várost.
 Ennek ellenére a hatszáz főre becsült tiltakozók csoportjai áttörték a kordonokat. Füstbombákkal, kövekkel, üvegekkel támadtak a rendőrökre. A tüntetők között fiatalok, idősek, munkahely nélkül maradtak is voltak, akik békés demonstrációra készültek, de a zavargások láttán elhagyták a menetet.
 „Nem vagyunk fasiszták, éhezünk!” – kiabálták.
 Hatósági információk szerint szélsőjobboldali csoportok, ultra futballszurkolók keresték a rendőrséggel való összecsapást. Más csoportok szélsőbaloldaliakból álltak, akik „gyilkost” kiabáltak a rendőrökre.
 
 Bolognában is több százan vonultak utcára a kormány korlátozó intézkedései ellen. Célpontok voltak az újságírók is, akiket egyebek közt terroristáknak neveztek.
 Az országban több mint egy hete mindennapossá váltak a demonstrációk: napközben a szakmai ágazatok vonulnak utcára békés megmozdulásokkal, esténként viszont zavargások robbannak ki. Eddig már a többi közt Nápolyban, Torinóban, Milánóban, Rómában és a szicíliai Palermóban csaptak össze tüntetők és rendőrök.
 Október közepétől szigorították a korlátozásokat, hétfőtől a vendéglátóhelyeknek este hat órakor be kell zárniuk, bezárták a mozikat, színházakat, uszodákat, edzőtermeket. Kilenc tartományban éjszakai kijárási tilalom lépett életbe. A kormány márciusig befagyasztotta az elbocsátásokat, de a felmérések szerint így is mintegy háromszázezer dolgozó veszítette már el állását. Egy nap alatt több mint 31 ezer fertőzöttet szűrtek Olaszországban, a húszból nyolc tartományban a kórházak már nem tudnak több Covid-19 beteget fogadni. Sajtóértesülések szerint a Conte-kormány a napi 40 ezres küszöbnél rendelhet el újabb korlátozásokat.
