Legalább egy ember életét vesztette, miután erős földrengés sújtotta Peru délnyugati térségét. A Perui Geofizikai Intézet (IGP) a rengés erősségét 5,1-es magnitúdójúnak mérte – írja a Canberra Times.
A rengés helyi idő szerint szombat este 21:24-kor következett be. A földmozgás epicentruma mintegy 24 kilométeres mélységben volt, Chupaca városától délre, a Junín régióban.
A földrengés következtében több épület megrongálódott vagy összeomlott az érintett térségben.
A hatóságok eddig legalább egy halálos áldozatról és több sérültről számoltak be, ugyanakkor attól tartanak, hogy a mentési munkálatok előrehaladtával nőhet az áldozatok száma.
