Egyetemi előadótermeket foglaltak el klímaaktivista diákok Ausztria nagyvárosaiban, így például Bécsben, Grazban és Salzburgban is hétfőn. A megmozdulás-sorozatot az Ég a Föld elnevezésű környezetvédő csoport szervezte, szimpatizánsaik „a politikai rendszer radikális megváltoztatását” követelik – számoltak be osztrák hírportálok. Linzben és Grazban klímaaktivisták autópálya-felhajtókat torlaszoltak el, néhányan pedig odaragasztották magukat az aszfalthoz.
A szervezettnek tűnő megmozdulások hétfő reggel kezdődtek Salzburgban és Innsbruckban, majd délben a bécsi Természeti Erőforrások és Alkalmazott Élettudományok Egyetemének (BOKU) diákjai is teremfoglalásba kezdtek. Kora délután a Grazi Egyetem aktivistái is csatlakoztak a megmozduláshoz – jelentette a Kronen Zeitung honlapja.
Az Ég a Föld elnevezésű klímaaktivista csoport támogatói „a rendszer radikális megváltoztatását” követelik „a társadalmi válság, az oktatási válság és az éghajlati válság leküzdése” érdekében.
Az érintett egyetemek vezetése kinyilvánította, hogy készek a „nyílt diskurzusra” a hallgatókkal. A Kronen Zeitung szerint hétfő délután panelbeszélgetést tartanak a diákönkormányzatok képviselőinek, valamint klímakutatóknak és a rektor vagy helyettesének részvételével.

A klímaaktivisták korábban számos módon – leginkább művészeti alkotások elcsúfításával: levessel, olajjal történő leöntésével, illetve kezük vagy más testrészüknek a festményekhez ragasztásával – fejezték ki elégedetlenségüket, amiért az európai kormányok „nem tesznek eleget” a klímakatasztrófa megelőzéséért.
A kiállított festményeket és egyéb műalkotásokat megkárosító aktivisták miatt várhatóan emelkedni fog a múzeumi belépők ára is.
Az akciók ugyanis arra késztetik az intézmények fenntartóit, hogy növeljék a biztonsági személyzet létszámát, amelynek ezentúl át kell kutatniuk a múzeumokba érkező látogatókat is, hogy ne vihessenek be festékszórót vagy ragasztót a termekbe.
Berlinben a helyi klímaaktivisták november eleji utcai tüntetése során megtörtént, hogy egy balesetet szenvedett kerékpáros nő maradandó agykárosodást szenvedett, mivel az útlezárások miatt a mentők csak jelentős késéssel értek ki a baleset helyszínére.
