Catherine Vautrin francia védelmi miniszter az X-en közzétett bejegyzésében kijelentette, hogy az ország emirátusi haditengerészeti bázisát is eltalálták a támadások, de a károk jelentéktelenek voltak, reagálva a közösségi médiában megjelent számos közleményre az esetről.
Vautrin megerősítette, hogy a francia hadsereg Egyesült Arab Emírségekben található bázisát megrongálta egy dróntámadás a bázis közelében.
„A haditengerészeti bázisunk hangárja, amely az emirátusi bázis mellett található, megrongálódott egy, az Abu Dhabi kikötőjét célzó dróntámadás során” – mondta.
Vautrin hangsúlyozta, hogy nem történt közvetlen támadás azon a területen, ahol a francia kontingens állomásozik, és maguk a katonák sem sérültek meg.
„A kár csak anyagi és korlátozott. Nincsenek áldozatok” – mondta, hozzátéve, hogy a régióban lévő francia hadsereg maximális készültségben van „egy óránként változó helyzetben”.
Mint ismertté vált, a francia katonai bázisok Abu Dhabiban találhatók Franciaország és az Egyesült Arab Emírségek közötti megállapodás alapján. A haditengerészeti bázis Port Zayedben található.
