„Észak-Korea tegnap (pénteken) és ma (szombaton) Hedzsu és Keszong város felől provokatív GPS-zavarást hajtott végre” – számolt be közleményében a szöuli vezérkar, hozzátéve, hogy hajók és több tucat polgári repülőgép „bizonyos működési zavarokat tapasztalt”. A hadsereg óvatosságra szólította fel a Kína és a Koreai-félsziget közötti Sárga-tengeren és a Sárga-tenger felett közlekedő dél-koreai hajókat és polgári repülőgépeket.
„Nyomatékosan felszólítjuk Észak-Koreát, hogy azonnal hagyjon fel a GPS-provokációkkal, és figyelmeztetjük, hogy felelősségre fogjuk vonni az ebből eredő problémákért” – derült ki a dokumentumból. A GPS-zavarás olyan ismeretlen jelek továbbításából áll, amelyek telítik a GPS-vevőket, és használhatatlanná teszik azokat a navigációra. Dél-Korea az elmúlt években számos alkalommal vádolta meg Észak-Koreát ezzel.
