A számokat az Oryx nevű, nyílt forrású hírszerzési és hadászati elemzőintézet tette közzé, és csak azokat a járműveket tartalmazza, amelyek pusztulásáról vagy sérüléséről vizuális megerősítés is elérhető. A honlapon minden egyes, a számításba bekerült eszközről látható fotó vagy videó.
Az elveszített harcjárművek között 2541 tank van. A harckocsik közül 1668 megsemmisült, emellett 141 megsérült, 185-öt magára hagytak a harctéren, 547-et pedig az ukránok zsákmányul ejtettek.
Mivel a honlapon csak a hitelesen megerősített esetek szerepelnek, a megsemmisült berendezések mennyisége valószínűleg lényegesen nagyobb, mint ami a listán szerepel
