Csattiszgarhban gyakran alakul ki összecsapás a maoista naxaliták és a biztonsági erők között.
A naxaliták – akik Nyugat-Bengál állam Naxalbari nevű településéről kapták nevüket – több évtizede folytatnak fegyveres támadásokat a kormányerők ellen,
mint állítják, a legszegényebbek érdekében. Fegyvereseik sűrű erdőkben rejtőzködnek, ezekből indítják a támadásokat, de a szomszédos indiai államokban is jelen vannak.
A naxalita lázadásnak az utóbbi két évtizedben több mint 3300 halálos áldozata volt a régiós terrorizmussal foglalkozó South Asia Terrorism Portal szerint.

Egy házi készítésű bombát robbantottak fel egy Kína déli részi található falu kormányirodája előtt, miután egy hivatali döntés értelmében 110 hektárnyi földet adtak át egy ingatlanfejlesztőnek, amely a földön dolgozó farmerek távozását is jelenti.
Nagyon ritka, amikor erőszakos demonstráló akciót hajtanak végre Kínában, ám most pont erre került sor, miután egy 59 éves férfi felrobbantott egy házi készítésű bombát – írja a The Guardian. A detonációban a merénylő és még négy másik személy is életét vesztette, valamint még öt ember megsérült.
Az eset még hétfőn történt Kuangcsou közelében, a 3000 lakost számláló Mingcsing falujában, a helyi települései kormányiroda előtt, amely a földügyek kérdésében hoz döntéseket. A férfit feltehetően az háborította fel, hogy egy nemrégiben meghozott döntés értelmében átadtak egy 110 hektáros földterületet egy sanghaji ingatlanfejlesztőnek.
A nyolc milliárd jüan (mintegy 360 milliárd forint) értékű projekt célja, hogy a helyi turizmus felpörgetése érdekében egy archaikus falut sikerüljön megalkotni, amiben a látogatók láthatják a kínai történelmet. A projekt miatt azonban több farmernek ki kell költöznie a földterületről, amely többeknek nehézséget okoz.
A támadást követően számos online beszámolóban fogalmaztak úgy, hogy a férfi elsősorban azért követte el a merényletet, mert nem sikerült a kompenzációban megegyeznie a kormánnyal, ám mint az AFP is megjegyzi, ezt még nem sikerült megerősíteni, valamint azt sem, hogy hány családot érint a kiköltöztetés.
A kínai farmerek számára nem ismeretlen, hogy az állam erőszakkal kilakoltatja őket földjükről, a városiasodás egyik hozadéka volt, hogy minél több területet próbált a központi hatalom az épülő városoknak felszabadítani.
A Hongkongi Egyetem korábbi tanulmánya például arról számolt be, hogy 2005 és 2015 között ez a gyakorlat évente 1 és 5 millió fő közötti mezőgazdasági dolgozót érintett, és a földjüket gyakran az állami földtörvényeket megsértve vagy kompenzáció nélkül vették el.
