Több tucat halálos áldozata volt az elmúlt napokban Újdelhiben az India északi részén hőmérsékleti rekordokat döntő hőhullámnak – közölte csütörtökön a Times of India a helyi hatóságok tájékoztatása alapján.
A lap beszámolója szerint az elmúlt két napban 52 holttestet szállítottak az újdelhi kórházakba. Az áldozatok főként a szabad ég alatt élő és dolgozó szegény emberek voltak.
Idén nyáron Indiában már több mint 40 ezer hőgutagyanús esetet regisztráltak; március 1. és június 18. között legkevesebb 110 halálesetnél megerősítették, hogy hőguta okozta.
A The Hindu című napilap csütörtökön a vízhiányra és a rekord mértékű áramfogyasztásra utalva arról írt vezércikkében, hogy „az elhúzódó nyarat természeti katasztrófának kellene nyilvánítani”.
Az egészségügyi minisztérium arra utasította a kórházakat, hogy biztosítsanak több ágyat a beérkező betegeknek, és felszólította az állami és szövetségi intézményeket, hogy gondoskodjanak a páciensek azonnali ellátásáról.
Delhiben az elmúlt fél évszázad legmelegebb éjszakáját élték át szerdán, a legalacsonyabb hőmérséklet is 35,2 Celsius-fok volt a meteorológiai szolgálat adatai alapján. A szakemberek júniusra a megszokott hőmérséklet feletti értékeket jósoltak.
Ázsia-szerte több milliárd ember szenved a rendkívüli hőségtől, amelynek trendjét az emberi tevékenység okozta klímaváltozás súlyosbítja.

Indiában 56 ember vesztette életét és csaknem 25 ezer ember került kórházba hőguta tüneteivel március óta a több napig tartó hőhullámok következtében – jelentette kormányzati adatokra hivatkozva a helyi média hétfőn.
A legnagyobb forróság májusban sújtotta a szubkontinens lakóit. A hőmérséklet a múlt hónapban a főváros Újdelhiben és az észak-nyugati Radzsisztán államban egyes napokon meghaladta az 50 Celsius-fokot, az országos betegségellenőrzési központ pedig 46 hőség okozta haláleset és 19 189 feltételezett napszúrásos esetet regisztrált országszerte.
A The Hindu című helyi lap szerint a hőhullámok következtében március óta elhunytak száma Indiában ennél jóval magasabb lehet 56-nál, és akár a 80-at is elérheti.
A hatóságok tájékoztatása szerint az északi Uttar Prades és Bihár, valamint a keleti Odisa államban pénteken legalább 33 ember – köztük az indiai parlamenti választásokon szolgálatot teljesítő tisztviselők – vesztette életét a hőség miatt. Egyedül Madhja Prades államban több mint ötezer embert ápolnak hőgutára utaló tünetekkel.
Kelet-Indiában ugyanakkor Remal ciklon okozott jelentős pusztítást. Asszamban múlt kedd óta 14 ember halt meg a heves esőzések okozta áradások következtében, míg a szomszédos Bangladesben több tucat halálos áldozatot követelt az extrém időjárás.
Srí Lankán, az Indiától délre fekvő szigetországban legkevesebb 15 ember vesztette életét a heves monszunesők okozta áradások és földcsuszamlások miatt.
Az előrejelzések szerint szerdáig csillapodni fog a hőség Indiában, a déli Kerala államot a múlt héten elérő monszun pedig várhatóan további enyhülést hoz.
Ázsiában több milliárd embert érintenek a rendkívüli hőhullámok, amelyeket a tudósok szerint az emberi tevékenység okozta klímaváltozás hatásai is fokoznak.

Az AP beszámolója szerint már legalább 138 bőgőmajom pusztult el a szélsőséges időjárási körülmények miatt május 16-a óta, sokuk pedig megbetegedett. Egy állatorvos elmondása szerint az állatok hőgutát kapnak, kiszáradnak és belázasodnak, amibe belehalnak, ha nem kapnak időben segítséget.
Egy biológus pedig arról számolt be, hogy a beteg majmok egyes helyeken már almákként potyognak le a fákról, ezután pedig perccel később ki is múlnak.
Mexikó környezetvédelmi minisztériuma elismerte, hogy tömeges pusztulás zajlik az ország két déli államában, ám azt nyilatkozták, hogy ennek oka egyelőre tisztázatlan. Mint közölték, a hőguta és a kiszáradás csak a lehetséges magyarázatok egyike, az is elképzelhető, hogy alultápláltság vagy a földeken használt rovarirtószerek okozzák.
A bőgőmajmok a világ leghangosabb állatai, üvöltéseik akár 4,8 kilométeres távolságból is hallhatóak. Jelenleg legalább 15 fajuk ismert, mindegyik Közép- és Dél-Amerika erdőiben honos. A tömeges pusztulási hullám elsősorban a mellényes bőgőmajmokat (Alouatta palliata) érinti, amelyeket a Természetvédelmi Világszövetség Vörös listája a sebezhető kategóriába sorol.
Ezek az állatok hozzászoktak a trópusi melegekhez, a mostani forróság azonban még az ő számukra is soknak bizonyul. És ezzel nincsenek egyedül: a hőség az embereknek is megterhelő, március közepe óta legalább 26 ember vesztette életét a hőség miatt Mexikóban, ahol a hónap hátralévő részében akár 45 Celsius-fokos hőmérsékletek is várhatóak.

Idén nyáron már a negyedik hőhullámmal kénytelen megbirkózni Spanyolország, a hőség még legalább csütörtökig eltart és növeli az erdőtüzek kockázatát is – közölte hétfőn a spanyol meteorológiai szolgálat (Aemet).
A kánikula csúcspontját szerdára várják, a hőmérő higanyszála aznap akár 44 Celsius fokra is kúszhat a főváros, Madrid térségében, valamint Jaén és Andalúzia tartományokban. Az érintett régiókban vörös riasztást adnak ki.
Hétfőn 42 Celsius fokos hőségre számítottak Andalúziában és a nyugati Extremadura tartományban. Számos helyen a hőhullám miatt „trópusi éjszakákra” kell berendezkedni 20-25 Celsius fokos éjjeli hőmérséklet mellett. Mindemellett a turisták körében kedvelt Baleár-szigeteket, Mallorcát és a földközi-tengeri partvidéket a kánikula úgy tűnik, elkerüli.
Spanyolországban emellett komoly gondot okoznak az erdőtüzek. Az utóbbi napokban két tűzvészt a katalóniai Portbou és a déli Huelva tartományban fekvő Bonares település mellett csak nagy nehezen – több evakuálás, áramkimaradás és útzárlat árán – tudtak megfékezni.
Portugáliában szintén több erdőtűz pusztít. A legsúlyosabb a hétvégén Castelo Branco és Proenca-a-Nova körzetekben mintegy hétezer hektár erdőséget perzselt fel. Ez utóbbit csak hétfőre sikerült megfékezni, de a délnyugati Odemira, a központi fekvésű Ourém és az északi Mangualde területén máris további tűzfészkek ellen küzdenek a katasztrófavédelmi hatóságok.
Spanyolországhoz hasonlóan Portugáliában is erdőtüzek fokozott veszélyére figyelmeztettek a hatóságok az elkövetkezendő napokban.

Több mint 100 ember halálát okozta a Mexikót három hete sújtó, 40 Celsius-foknál is magasabb hőmérsékletekkel járó hőhullám – közölte az ország egészségügyi minisztériuma.
Az elmúlt napokban enyhült a forróság az esős évszak beköszöntével, de egyes észak-mexikói városokban még mindig nagy a hőség, a Sonora állambeli Aconchi városban például szerdán 49 Celsius-fokot mértek.
A legtöbben – hatvankilencen – június 18. és 24. között vesztették életüket. A halálos áldozatok csaknem mindannyian hőgutát kaptak, egyesek kiszáradásban haltak meg.
A halálesetek 64 százaléka az amerikai Texas állammal határos Nuevo Léon államban történt, a többi eset zömét a Mexikói-öböl partja mentén elterülő Tamaulipas és Veracruz államban regisztrálták.
A hőségben rekordot döntött az áramfogyasztás, ami miatt a hatóságok kénytelenek voltak felfüggeszteni az oktatást egyes iskolákban, és áramszünetek is előfordultak.
A hatóságok adatai szerint az év eleje óta Mexikóban 112 ember halt meg a hőséggel összefüggésben, háromszor annyi, mint a múlt év hasonló időszakában. A tragédiában közrejátszott, hogy késett az esős időszak, amely általában már június közepétől enyhülést hoz.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador mexikói elnök a múlt héten még a „szenzációhajhász” sajtót vádolta azzal, hogy eltúlozza a hőhullám következményeit a magas halálozási számokkal. Egyes hírközlő eszközök szerint némelyek azért haltak meg, mert az áramhiány miatt nem működött otthonukban a klímaberendezés. Obrador annak híve, hogy az áramszolgáltatás maradjon szigorúan állami kézben – írja az AP hírügynökség.

Bihár államban 42-en haltak meg az elmúlt két napban. Harmincöt haláleset kórházban történt az állam fővárosában, Patnában, ahol több mint kétszáz beteget ápolnak hasmenéssel és hányással.
