Hondurasban, Roatán közelében hétfőn egy repülőgép 17 emberrel a fedélzetén a tengerbe zuhant a helyi tisztviselők szerint.
A hondurasi polgári légiközlekedési hatóság (Honduras Civil Aviation) megerősítette, hogy a baleset éjjel történt a Juan Manuel Gálvez Nemzetközi Repülőtéren. A fedélzeten 15 utas és a kétfős személyzet tartózkodott, akik közül hatan biztosan meghaltak, a többiek után még folyik a kutatás – számolt be róla a BBC.
A Jetstream 32 típusú repülőgép Roatánból indult La Ceiba felé, amely Honduras északi partvidékén található.
Az előzetes jelentések szerint a repülőgép másodpercekkel a felszállás után lezuhant.
A hondurasi rendőrség közölte, hogy jelen voltak a helyszínen, és próbálták kimenteni a baleset érintettjeit.

Kényszerleszállást hajtott végre a Xiomara Castro hondurasi elnököt szállító helikopter a dzsungelben, az ország középső vidékén.

Elítélték az Egyesült Államoknak kiadott és kábítószer-kereskedelemmel vádolt Juan Orlando Hernández volt hondurasi elnököt pénteken.
Az ügyben eljáró manhattani szövetségi bíróság esküdtszéke két hetes pert és két nap tanácskozást követően mondta ki bűnösnek a terhére rótt vádpontokban a volt elnököt. A bíróság a büntetési tételt később fogja megállapítani. Hernández akár életfogytiglani börtönbüntetést is kaphat.
Hernándezt azzal vádolják, hogy hivatali ideje alatt, 2014 és 2022 januárja között az ő megvesztegetése révén több tonna kokain érkezett Hondurasba légi és tengeri úton Kolumbiából és Venezuelából. Köze lehetett ahhoz is, hogy az Egyesült Államokba mintegy 500 tonna kokaint szállítottak Hondurasból.
Ugyanakkor a közép-amerikai ország ebben az időben több mint 50 millió dollár amerikai támogatást kapott a kábítószerbűnözés megfékezésére és további dollár tízmilliókat biztonsági és katonai támogatás formájában.
A korábbi elnök tagadta az ellene felhozott vádakat. Ugyanakkor több elítélt kábítószerkereskedő terhelő tanúvallomást tett a volt elnökre, azt állítva, hogy kenőpénzt fogadott el tőlük.
Az amerikai vádhatóság szerint az így befolyt összegeket Hernández tisztségviselők lefizetésére, illetve saját megválasztására használta fel a 2013-as és 2017-es választások alkalmával.
Juan Orlando Hernándezt, aki a kábítószer-kereskedelem elleni harc bajnokaként tüntette fel magát, az Egyesült Államok kezdetben szövetségesének tekintette ebben a küzdelemben.
Az 53 éves Hernández testvérét, Juan Antonio Hernándezt, aki hondurasi kongresszusi képviselő is volt, 2021-ben az Egyesült Államokban már bűnösnek találták kábítószer- és fegyverkereskedelemben, és életfogytiglani börtönbüntetésre ítélték.

Legkevesebb 17 ember életét vesztette, tizennégyen pedig megsérültek szerdán egy nyugat-hondurasi faluban, amikor két busz frontálisan ütközött – közölték a helyi hatóságok csütörtökön.

Az intézkedés hatálya egyelőre 15 napra szól San Pedro Sula és Choloma városokban, ahol az államfői bejelentés szerint a következő 24 órában számos razziát, ellenőrzést és letartóztatást fognak végrehajtani a hatóságok.
Xiomara Castro a Twitter-oldalán közölte azt is, hogy 800 ezer argentin lempira nyomravezetői díjat tűznek ki „a vérengzések elkövetőinek” elfogására.
Cholomában a helyi sajtó beszámolója szerint legkevesebb tizenegy embert gyilkoltak meg szombaton egy billiárdszalonban. Az El Heraldo című helyi lap úgy tudja, a régióban 21 embert öltek meg aznap, köztük egy nőt és csecsemőjét egy lakásban. Choloma és San Pedro Sula két, egymáshoz közel fekvő város az ország északnyugati felében található Sula-völgyben.
Kedden 46 fegyenc vesztette életét a fővárostól, Tegucigalpától mintegy 35 kilométerre északnyugatra található Támara női fegyintézetében rivális bandatagok között kitört véres börtönlázadásban. A történtekre válaszul a kormány elrendelte, hogy a hondurasi katonai rendőrség vegye át a közép-amerikai ország börtöneinek irányítását.

Legalább 41 áldozata van annak a börtönlázadásnak Hondursaban, amely egy női fegyházban tört ki kedden.
A BBC úgy tudja, hogy rivális bandák estek egymásnak, majd az egyik cellát is felgyújtották. A hatóságok szerint a legtöbben a tűznek estek áldozatul, de vannak olyanok is, akiket fegyverrel lőttek le. Azt egyelőre nem tudni, hogy a hondurasi főváros Tegucigalpától 20 kilométerre lévő, 900 fős börtönben csak rabok haltak-e meg.
Delma Ordonez, A fogvatartottak családtagjait képviselő Delma Ordonez a helyi médiának azt mondta, hogy a börtön egy része teljesen megsemmisült az erőszakos cselekmények során.
Az ország biztonsági miniszterhelyettese, Julissa Villanueva szükségállapotot hirdetett, engedélyezte a tűzoltók, a rendőrség és a katonaság azonnali beavatkozását is. Villanueva azt ígérte, hogy vizsgálatot indítanak mindazon börtönben lévő személyek ellen, akik összejátszanak a szervezett bűnözéssel.
Xiomara Castro elnöknő a közösségi médiában közölte, hogy megdöbbentette a nők szörnyű gyilkossága, és drasztikus intézkedéseket fog hozni válaszul.
Néhány más közép-amerikai országhoz hasonlóan Hondurasban is súlyos problémát jelent a szervezett bűnözés, rengeteg az erőszakos bűncselekmény és kiugróan magas a gyilkosságok száma is. A bűnözés jó része a kábítószerkereskedelemhez kötődik, hiszen Honduras is az Egyesült Államokba tartó kokain tranziországának számít.

Honduras két városában rendeltek el rendkívüli állapotot a fiatalokból álló bandák okozta erőszakhullám miatt – közölték kedden a közép-amerikai ország hatóságai.
Az elkövetkező harminc napban a rendőrség a főváros, Tegucigalpa egyes részein és az északnyugati fekvésű San Pedro Sulában különleges felhatalmazást kap gyanúsítottak őrizetbe vételére.
Xiomara Castro államfő indoklása szerint a rendkívüli állapot bevezetése segíthet 160 városrészben javítani a biztonsági helyzetet. Ennek érdekében a különleges jogrend idejére korlátoztak egy sor szabadságjogot, így a többi között a gyülekezési jogot.
A tízmillió lakosú Hondurast az erőszak által leginkább sújtott országok között tartják számon a világon.
Tavaly a százezer lakosra jutó gyilkosságok száma 41,7 volt,. naponta hozzávetőleg tizenegy emberöléssel.
Az erőszakhullámért és a magas bűnözési arányokért mindenekelőtt a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) és a Pandilla 18 nevű bandákat teszik felelőssé. A szomszédos Salvador márciusban rendkívüli állapotot vezetett be az egész országban a bűnszervezetek elleni küzdelemért.

Újabb újságírót öltek meg Hondurasban, így már ötre emelkedett a 2022-ben meggyilkolt újságírók száma a közép-amerikai országban – jelentette kedden a Bizottság a Sajtószabadságért (C-Libre) hondurasi civil szervezet.
Amada Ponce, a C-Libre vezetője azt mondta, a 23 éves Edwin Josué Andinót helyi idő szerint hétfőn, közvetlen közelről lőtték agyon fényes nappal. Raúl Morazan, az LVT helyi televízió igazgatója azt mondta, az elkövetők Andinóra az újságíró villafrancai otthonában törtek rá, ahonnan az apjával együtt az utcára vitték, majd közvetlen közelről agyonlőtték, s az apjával is végeztek. Kiemelte, hogy Andino – aki egy ideig az LVT-nek is dolgozott – korábban több halálos fenyegetést kapott.
Ponce elmondta, hogy mielőtt agyonlőtték, Andino száját szigetelőszalaggal leragasztották. Az áldozat „elhallgattatását” szimbolizáló aktus gyakori a Mexikóban elkövetett újságíró-gyilkosságoknál is – tette hozzá.
Hondurasban 2001 óta 98 újságírót gyilkoltak meg, sajtószabadságért küzdő szervezetek szerint az ország az egyik legveszélyesebb hely a sajtómunkások számára. Hondurasban a közbiztonság egyébként is nagyon rossz: a statisztikák szerint minden 100 ezer lakosra 39 gyilkosság jut, így ez a világ egyik legveszélyesebb országa.

Még pénteken áttörte a guatemalai határt több ezer, az Egyesült Államokba igyekvő hondurasi migráns. A guatemalai biztonsági erők össze is csaptak a karaván több száz tagjával.
Noha a határ közelében lévő El Florido város hatóságai eleinte még azt mondták, a körülbelül 4500 fős tömegben sok a nő és a gyerek, ezért nem alkalmaznak erőszakot velük szemben, szombatra úgy határozott az ország vezetése, hogy semmiképpen nem engedi tovább a tömeget. Ráadásul a guatemalai bevándorlási hivatal kiadott egy olyan figyelmeztetést, miszerint egy újabb, csaknem háromezer emberből álló csoport is elindult Hondurasból.
Egy jelentés szerint már ez a csoport is átjutott a határon, a guatemalai biztonsági erők Vado Hondo határfalunál összecsaptak közülük több százzal. Egy másik jelentés arról szól, hogy csak egy kisebb csoport jutott át, mintegy ezer embert visszatoloncoltak a határon, sokakat pedig őrizetbe vettek a hatóságok. Akik átjutottak, a hírek szerint tovább menetelnek Mexikó felé. Azonban Mexikó sem fogadja tárt karokkal őket, mivel még érvényben van az USA-val kötött migrációs megállapodás. A karaván nagy valószínűséggel tovább fog forgácsolódni. Mexikónak egyébként a szabályozott bevándorlás nincs ellenére, csak az engedély nélküli belépéseknek venné elejét. Még tegnapelőtt este a mexikói külügyminisztérium nyomatékosan felszólította a helyi hatóságokat az áradat megfékezésére, már csak a Covid–19 terjedésének megakadályozása érdekében is.
A szaktárca dicsérte a guatemalai rendőrség tettrekészségét, ugyanakkor felszólította Hondurast, hogy ne engedje ki a migránsait.
Idén ez az első közép-amerikai migránskaraván, amely elindult az Egyesült Államok felé, és feltehetőleg amiatt, hogy reménykednek a majdani új amerikai kormány engedékenyebb hozzáállásában a bevándorlás ügyében. A szerdán beiktatandó Joe Biden azt ígérte, amint hivatalba kerül, azonnal rendezi a bevándorlók helyzetét, állampolgárságot adva 11 millió, jelenleg az USA-ban illegálisan élő idegennek.
A Pueblo Sin Fronteras, Soros György milliárdos által finanszírozott, migránskaravánokat szervező aktivista szervezet felszólította a leendő Biden-adminisztrációt, hogy váltsa be az ügyben tett ígéretét, és hasson oda, hogy Mexikó és a közép-amerikai államok olyan bevándorlási politikát folytassanak, amely tiszteletben tartja és támogatja a népesség szabad mozgásához fűződő emberi jogait.
Sajtóhírek szerint jóllehet Joe Biden megválasztott elnök az elődjénél humánusabb megközelítést ígért, az Egyesült Államok és Honduras között fekvő országok – Guatemala és Mexikó – kormányai fenn szeretnék tartani szigorú határvédelmi intézkedéseiket. Ez valószínűleg Washingtonnak sem lesz ellenére, minthogy Biden egyes tanácsadói név nélkül nyilatkozva aggodalmukat fejezték ki a bevándorlási hullám esetleges erősödése miatt.
Guatemala és Honduras – Salvadorral együtt – Közép-Amerika úgynevezett északi háromszögében található. A régiót az erőszak által leginkább sújtott térségek között tartják számon a világon. A helyzetet tovább rontja a koronavírus-járvány és a tavaly novemberi hurrikánok pusztítása. Nemzetközi szervezetek szerint a három országból évente átlagosan legalább félmillió ember emigrál illegálisan az Egyesült Államokba.
