Százezrek vonultak az utcára Izrael-szerte, hogy folytassák a hónapok óta tartó tiltakozást a kormány igazságügyi reformja ellen, amelynek első megtárgyalására jövő héten kerül sor az izraeli törvényhozásban, a kneszetben – írja a CNN.
Benjámin Netanjahu izraeli miniszterelnök és kormánya újabb erőfeszítéseket tett annak érdekében, hogy a vitatott igazságügyi reformot – ami többek között korlátozná a legfelsőbb bíróság hatáskörét – végre elfogadják. Netanjahu újabb próbálkozásai sokakat felbőszítettek, a tüntetések szervezői úgy becsülik, országszerte körülbelül 365 ezer ember vonult az utcákra, csak Tel-Aviv központjában 180 ezres tiltakozó tömeg gyűlt össze. Szombaton a tüntetők lezártak egy főútvonalat Tel-Avivban, válaszul az izraeli rendőrség vízágyúkat vetett be ellenük.
A mozgalmak egyik szóvivője szerint a demonstráció éjszaka is folytatódik.
Június végén Netanjahu azt mondta, hogy a reform egyik legvitatottabb pontját elvetették, amely lehetővé tette volna, hogy a kneszet hatályon kívül helyezze a legfelsőbb bíróság döntéseit.

Tiltakozók tízezrei vonultak utcára Izrael városaiban tegnap késő este spontán dühkitöréssel, miután Benjámin Netanjahu miniszterelnök váratlanul menesztette védelmi miniszterét, aki megkérdőjelezte igazságszolgáltatási átalakítási tervét.
Joáv Galant a jobboldali kormányzó Likud párt politikusa, szombaton nyíltan felszólította a Netanjahu vezette kormánykoalíciót, hogy függessze fel az igazságügyi reformot. Az erre reagáló Benjámin Netanjahu izraeli kormányfő vasárnap felmentette tisztségéből az igazságügyi reformot ellenző védelmi miniszterét. „Benjámin Netanjahu miniszterelnök úgy döntött, hogy meneszti tisztségéből Joáv Galant védelmi minisztert” – közölte a kormányfő hivatala.
A tel-avivi tüntetők vasárnap késő este elzárták a főutat, és nagy máglyákat gyújtottak, miközben a rendőrség összeverekedett a Netanjahu jeruzsálemi magánháza előtt összegyűlt tüntetőkkel. A zavargások elmélyítették Netanjahu igazságszolgáltatás átalakítására irányuló terve miatti hónapok óta tartó válságot.
