Az isztambuli rendőrség csütörtökön 124 helyszínen tartott razziát, fegyvereket és dokumentumokat foglalt le, miközben a hatóságok az ünnepi időszakra tervezett támadásokra figyelmeztetnek.
A török rendőrség csütörtökön 115 feltételezett Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet tagját tartóztatta le, miután razziákat tartottak a karácsonyi és újévi merényletekre vonatkozó feltételezett tervek ellen.
Isztambul főügyésze közölte, hogy a hatóságok letartóztatási parancsokat adtak ki 137 gyanúsított ellen, akik állítólag az ünnepi időszakban elkövetett támadásokra készültek.
A rendőrség 124 címen tartott razziát Isztambulban, 115 embert vett őrizetbe, miközben a fennmaradó 22 gyanúsított elfogására irányuló erőfeszítések folytatódnak.
A rendőrök a házkutatások során pisztolyokat, lőszert és szervezeti dokumentumokat foglaltak le. Az ügyészség közölte, hogy egyes gyanúsítottak konfliktusokban való részvétellel hozhatók összefüggésbe, mások ellen pedig nemzeti és nemzetközi szintű terrorcselekmények miatt elfogatóparancs van érvényben.
Ankara tartományi csendőrparancsnoksága december 19-én figyelmeztetett, hogy az ISIS szilveszter előtt támadásokat hajthat végre Ankarában és Isztambulban.
A figyelmeztetés szerint a csoport egyidejű támadásokat tervezett bevásárlóközpontok és piacok ellen, potenciálisan fegyveres támadásokkal, öngyilkos merényletekkel, autóba rejtett pokolgépekkel, dróntámadásokkal vagy járművel történő gázolással.
A hatóságok kedden közölték, hogy a hét elején az ankarai főügyészség letartóztatási parancsokat adott ki tíz gyanúsított ellen az ISIS terrorszervezet pénzügyi struktúrájának kivizsgálásában.
A Terrorista Bűncselekményeket Nyomozó Iroda által végzett, a Pénzügyi Bűncselekményeket Nyomozó Testület jelentései és a közösségi média elemzései alapján végzett vizsgálat feltárta a szervezet ankarai felépítését.
A nyomozók szerint a gyanúsítottak bankszámlákon keresztül készpénzzel juttatták el az ISIS tagjait és családtagjaikat Szíria konfliktusövezeteiben, olyan magyarázatokkal, mint „egységre, vezeklésre és a fogságban tartott nővérek megsegítésére való felhívás”.
Az ISIS korábban több halálos merényletet hajtott végre Törökország-szerte.
2015. október 10-én az ISIS öngyilkos merénylői egy béketüntetést támadtak az ankarai vasútállomás előtt, legalább 102 ember halálát okozva és több mint 400-at megsebesítve a török történelem legvéresebb terrortámadásában. A támadással kapcsolatos tárgyalások továbbra is folyamatban vannak.
2015. január 1-jén egy fegyveres támadt az isztambuli Reina éjszakai klubra az újévi ünnepség alatt, 39 embert megölve.
Ezenkívül több száz civil vesztette életét az IS 2015 és 2017 közötti támadásaiban az Atatürk repülőtéren, Suruçban és Diyarbakırban.

A legsúlyosabb felelősségre vonást ígérte Kash Patel, az amerikai Szövetségi Nyomozó Iroda (FBI) igazgatója annak a katonának az ügyében, akit az Iszlám Állam nemzetközi terrorhálózat nevében tervezett terrortámadás gyanújával tartóztattak le.
Kash Patel arra reagált, hogy a szövetségi hatóságok kedden őrizetbe vették a Michigani Nemzeti Gárda egy 19 éves tagját, Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Saidot, aki a feltételezés szerint az Iszlám Állam nevében készített elő fegyveres támadást az amerikai hadsereg harckocsizó irányítási központjánál Warren városban.
A Szövetségi Nyomozó Iroda igazgatója a Fox News hírtelevízió digitális kiadásának csütörtökön adott interjúban úgy fogalmazott, hogy „bárkit, aki a katonaságunkat veszi célba, vagy összejátszik külföldi terrorszervezetekkel, megtaláljuk, megállítjuk, és a törvény teljes súlyát alkalmazva felelősségre vonjuk”.
Az amerikai állampolgárságú Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said tervét az FBI fedett ügynökeinek segítségével leplezték le. A nyomozásban részt vevő illetékesek beszámolója szerint a 19 éves gyanúsított többi között tanácsokkal látta el a fedett ügynököket arról, hogy a támadáshoz hány fegyvertárat használjanak, valamint drónnal felmérte a kiszemelt helyszínt.

Mohammed asz-Szudáni iraki miniszterelnök közleményében azt írta, „az irakiak folytatják nagyszerű győzelmeiket a sötétség és a terrorizmus erői felett”, hozzátéve, hogy az „Abu Kadidzsa” mozgalmi néven is ismert Abdallah Maki Mosle al-Rifáj nemcsak a terrorszervezet „helyettes kalifája”, hanem
Irak és a világ egyik legveszélyesebb terroristája is volt.
Az iraki biztonsági erők két névtelenséget kérő tisztségviselője arról tájékoztatta az AP amerikai hírügynökséget, hogy Abu Kadidzsa ellen csütörtök éjjel egy légicsapással hajtották végre a likvidálási műveletet a nyugat-iraki el-Anbár tartományban, de a vezető halálát csak pénteken erősítették meg.
Az iraki miniszterelnök bejelentésével egy időben látogatott első ízben Irakba a szír átmeneti kormány vezető diplomatája, aki iraki kollégájával folytatott tárgyalásai után arra tett ígéretet, hogy a két ország együtt fog működni az Iszlám Állam elleni küzdelemben.
Fuád Mohamed Huszein iraki külügyminiszter pénteki sajtótájékoztatóján ezzel kapcsolatban megerősítette, hogy „a szíriai és az iraki társadalmat érintő közös kihívások között az Iszlám Állam terroristáit” is meg kell nevezni. Hozzátette, hogy a tárgyaláson „az Iszlám Állam Irakon és Szírián belüli, valamint a szíriai-iraki határövezetben való csapatmozgásait is részletesen áttekintették”.
A külügyminiszter azt is elmondta, hogy hamarosan megkezdi munkáját az a hadműveleti központ, melynek létrehozásáról egy közelmúltban megtartott ammáni csúcstalálkozón állapodtak meg Szíria, Irak, Törökország, Jordánia és Libanon képviselői.

Oroszország „terrorellenes akciót” hajtott végre vasárnap az ország déli részén található Dagesztánban, három embert őrizetbe vettek. Az ország magas szintű készültségben van a március 22-én Moszkvában elkövetett tömeggyilkosság után, amelyben legalább 144 embert vesztette életét. Ez volt a legsúlyosabb oroszországi merénylet az elmúlt húsz évben.
A Crocus City Hall koncerttermében elkövetett támadást az Iszlám Állam egyik tagszervezete vállalta magára.
A Nemzeti Terrorelhárító Bizottság jelentése szerint, amelyet a Reuters ismertetett, a három őrizettbe vett személy egy sor merényletet tervezett.

Az Iszlám Állam vállalta magára a mai moszkvai terrortámadás elkövetését. Az orosz hatóságok még nem erősítették meg, hogy valóban az iszlamista radikális szervezet fegyveresei gyilkoltak.
Közleményt adott ki az Iszlám Állam, melyben magukra vállalták a moszkvai Crocus City ellen elkövetett terrormerényletet. Az Iszlám Állam szerint az összes elkövető el tudott menekülni.
Az orosz hatóságok nem erősítették meg, hogy valóban ők követték el a támadást, a gyanúsítottakról továbbra sincs hivatalosan kiadott információ.
Helyszíni beszámolók alapján szakállas, kaukázusi kinézetű férfiak gyilkoltak a koncertteremben, de erről még szintén nincs hiteles bizonyíték. Eddig nagyon kevés hiteles, vagy legalább annak tűnő információ jelent meg a terrortámadás gyanúsítottjairól.
Korábban látható volt egy felvétel arról, hogy az orosz rendőrök bilincsbe verve visznek el egy férfit, de frissebb hírek szerint ő nem a lövöldözők közé tartozott, hanem más oka volt annak, hogy őrizetbe vették.
Az Iszlám Államhoz köthető sejtek és az orosz hatóságok közt több, kisebb összetűzés is volt az elmúlt napokban.
